why is the discuss button gone?
Because it has a worser filter and it’s harder to moderate, so they removed it so less people would spam it.
This is my signature (it goes automatically under every post I make)! Here is a bit of advice on foruming, by the way. Don't do SAND. SAND means four words.
SAND means Spam, Advertising, Necroposting, and Derailing.
Spam is when a irrelevant message is sent to many places. Wiki Article: Spam
Advertising is when you promote your studios and projects. Wiki Article: Advertising
Necroposting is when you post on a old topic. It distracts other helpers! Wiki Article: Necroposting
Derailing is when you post something that is irrelevant to the topic, like minimodding. It is called thread hijacking. Wiki Article: Derailing(Derailing idea comes from this guy),
in the process of leaving scratch.

why is the discuss button gone?
Here is a pretty detailed analysis by Za-Chary. I'm not going to quote the whole thing due to length but it's worth a look if you want to know the reasoning.

why is the discuss button gone?
That is rejected, according to the TOLOPS (The Official List of Pre-jected Suggestions)*:
9.1 Bring back the “Discuss” tab*Just an April Fools' Day prank.
The Discuss tab was removed for reasons that may not 100% clear to some users, but it will not be coming back. In general, the forums are not as restricted as the main website is, in terms of post content. For instance, users can post images on the forums, write Scratch blocks on the forums, and write and edit posts of up to 200,000 characters, none of which is possible on the main website. These options allow for more spam and misuse, especially for new forum users who are not aware of how the forums work. It is suggested that Scratchers learn of the forums through other Scratchers, who direct them to the correct forums as needed.
A very good detailed analysis for why the Discuss button may have been removed can be found on this post.
Some rules that aren't mentioned or clarified in the Community Guidelines or the Terms of Use:
- 'The Browser Extension/Userscript Policy' (why you can't say the name of a certain browser extension that lots of Scratchers use)
- '“Art theft” and our remixing policy' (why people are allowed to recolour your OCs with credit)
- 'Shops, Points, and Pretend Currency Systems' (why you technically aren't allowed to use follows as a prize in contests)
- '“Music Sharing” Projects' (why that Imagine Dragons music project from 2021 was taken down)
- “Face Reveal” Projects (why you're not allowed to share your face on Scratch, even if someone wants to draw a portrait of you)
- “Five Nights at Freddy's” (why that fangame you spent a month working on, complete with jumpscares and a traumatising backstory, is not allowed)
