Candara
Written by Wari
437 words

This story takes place in the kingdom of Candara. This small country is far to the north, and possesses a frigid climate. Its southern border is made up of a large mountain range, blocking it off from the rest of the world. A half-frozen sea is located to the north; its surface thickens and thaws with the cycle of the seasons.

To the east and west, Great Forests provide a source of wood and other resources. However, the Forests seem to have a spirit of their own, especially in the winter months. Sometimes explorers travel inside, searching for a way out of the kingdom. However, they often emerge days, weeks, or sometimes even months later, disoriented and confused. Others never return.

Between the Forests, the kingdom is dotted with small farms and villages, clustered particularly around rivers and lakes. The inhabitants of these villages are sustained by crops, livestock, and the fish that can be caught from nearby bodies of water. The population decreases as one travels farther north, due to the cold and less fertile soil. The only settlements that far north tend to be small fishing villages on the coast of the Northern Sea.

In the southeast, nestled in the foothills of the Southern Peaks, lies the capital city of the kingdom: Crystalis. This is where the rulers of the country live, and functions as a center of learning and commerce.

In the spring, when this story takes place, rivers engorge with the melting snowfall of the Southern Peaks, causing widespread floods. Spring showers are common, and usually consist of a mixture of snow, sleet, and hail. Even though the weather is getting warmer, most of the snow won’t melt until the beginning of summer. Around this time, the floods signal the beginning of the crop season, and the river water nourishes and irrigates the farmers’ fields.

Explorers are warned to stay home during this time, since it makes nearly every corner of the kingdom more dangerous than usual. The mountains experience shifting in the snow layers, which can cause avalanches. The Forests are also particularly agitated, with new growths obstructing paths and even creating new ones. Wild animals that were in hibernation during the long winter begin to wake and forage for food.

In the northern sea, ice layers begin to thin. As summer approaches, fishermen and adventurers can begin to head farther out while the ice recedes. Young ones are cautioned not to play on the ice, since the thawing surface becomes brittle, easily broken.

All over Candara, spring marks a time for change and preparation for the summer and autumn months ahead.

Daily for March 14th - Write about pie

March 14th is pi day. Not pie as in the food. But pi as in the mathematical number. Here are some random things about pi, both the number form and the food form. First of all, pi is an infinite decimal, it can’t be turned into a fraction like most decimals. Which makes no sense since pie can be split among many people. Pi is the approximately 3.14. In a mathematical expression, pi is written like this: π. It looks a lot like a funky ‘n’. Here’s a corny pi pun I found on google: never talk to pi. He’ll go on forever. Get it? ANYWAYS. Now let’s talk about something similar to Pi. Something that is spelled similarly and is said the same. Pie! Pie is a food and mostly has nothing to do with math, unless you are someone learning fractions and your teacher decides to ask students how to split a pie for three people. Then it is related to math, so there’s another thing how pi and pie are related. Pie is also yummy, to some people. I’ve never tasted pie so I wouldn’t know. I do know that there are many different types and flavors of pie. Like, apple pie and cherry pie. I think the most common is apple, I hear that kind of pie everywhere. I also hear that apple pie is best during fall, when all the apples are brand new and stuff. Pie is a circular edible delicacy and is baked. I guess it could come in square shapes and other shapes, but it is most commonly known as a circular food. It usually has a fruit filling in it, and is covered in a checkered pattern. You can find pies in almost any bakery. Unless that bakery only sells cakes, then you can’t find it. There is a pie emoji! Here is a pie emoji I found:

Me realizing before going to bed I have a daily worth points to write (@_@)
314 words
Daily March 14

Pi Day was coming up soon and Maddie Calloway was preparing for the pi competition. She had been preparing for the competition for months and so far she'd gotten to ,“ 3.141592653589793238462” Maddie had prepared hard for this not only would get an award they would get a pie of their choice. She wasn't sure that 23 digits was enough and was working very hard to memorize at least ten more. Maddie had very good ways of memorizing long things. She would put pi numbers everywhere around her so every time she looked at them she would memorize and revise them. She would practice every day one new number and in a month she had gotten 30 digits. She was very proud of herself. And was practicing at lunch minding her own business when Poison Ivy, which is what she called Ivy Brown, said, “ I don't see why you even bother trying, everyone knows I'm the smartest and prettiest girl in school.” Maddie, being angry, replied, “ Are you sure about that?” Poison Ivy flipped her hair and walked away. Maddie wasn't too worried about the pi competition. But when she got home she made an effort to memorize 50 digits of pie. She practiced and practiced, and by the time it was the day of the competition she knew all 50 digits. For some reason as soon as she got into school and the competition started she was worried sick. She hears, “ And our next contestant is Maddie Calloway.” Maddie fiddling with her hands takes a deep breath walks into stage and recites,“ 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510.” Fast forward to the next day a d the winner is announced before the announcer could say anything Ivy Brown said, " Thank you for this opportunity I worked hard to achieve this. The announcer says, Actually the winner is Maddie Calloway. Maddie smiles in surprise taking a picture with her pie.

Character
Name: Daphne Meadowflower
Age: 300
Species: Fairy

Personality and traits
Daphne is a daffodil fairy and comes from a family of five with twin older siblings called Chrysanthemum (chrys) and Snapdragon (snap). They tease her relentlessly and call her Daffy. She hates being called this as although she’s a mere 300 she’s left home for 20 years now and doesn’t believe her siblings have the right to call her silly baby names. Although yellow may be a colour of cowardice, Daphne is anything but and enjoys swordfighting with pondreeds and riding her pet goldfinch -Sunburst. She lives in a teapot suspended from a willow tree above a clump of daffodils which is just high enough for her mother to have a fit when she sees it but just near enough to Sunburst’s nest that Daphne herself doesn’t see it as a problem. Besides, she likes the little bit o’ risk. She’s the definition of cinnamonroll who looks like a cinnamonroll but thinks she’s a * ans ends up having a * side. Is definitely pan just sayin’ and is always trying to prove herself in the most dangerous ways known to fairy however, if she ever does do anything slightly hurtfull, she’ll bake them honeydew tarts to make up for it. She’s very stubborn and once she’s dug her heels in, she won’t let go of the idea whether it be a new recipe that she just can’t get right or going down longberry falls in a tiny canoe made of daffodil petals and camelia leaves because one of the rock trolls said it was only for the strongest fae and dared insinuate that Daphne couldn’t take it.

Wants, Hopes strengths
What she really wants out of life is an adventure. A chance to prove herself and show the world what she’d made of or at least her older twin siblings Chrys and Snap. She also has a secret project. About a month ago, she was replanting the daffodil bulbs to make sure they grew the next year and she struck something hard with her wooden trowel. She unearthed it and found it was a lump of metal that has a strange orange-y sheen to it. So she won an arm wrestling match with a rock troll named Dolomite in the Dark-oak bar and got him to begrudingly teach her how to forge this piece of metal into a sword worthy of a warrior. Now, she spends every thursday and saturday with him helping her forge this sword and along this time she learns that under the rough exterior he has a good heart and they bond over baking recipes. When she goes on her great adventure, Dolomite goes with her he says it’s to stop her from doing anything stupid but really he’s grown to appreciate the small fairy and wouldn’t want to leave her now. He also knows how reckless she can be when it comes to her honour. A great strength of her’s is her stubbornness as mentioned earlier but also her great courage and ability to stand up for what’s right.

Dislikes and fears
Daphne really dislikes being looked down upon. She realises she’s a flowerfairy and that doesn’t do much for her by way of first impressions but she has that kind of stubborn ‘if you can do it i can do it’ attitude and she doesn’t see why she can’t be as strong as the rocktrolls , as clever as the brownies or as brave as the elves in the forest Queen’s battalion. She also as a rule doesn’t like narcissai. She see’s them as far too stuck up and having a ‘not like other flowers’ attitude. In her opinion, narcissai are the most horrendous things to walk the earth second to deathcap mushrooms and that’s because her uncle died to those things.

Pi Day
WC: 314 <3

This is the (sadly) true and very strange story (not actually that strange) of why my sister hates Pi. Not pie the food, mind you, but simply the mathematical constant pi.
You see, my sister is very much a lover of all things math and facts. She is the house scientist (and, hence, plant mom) and has always been the best of us at math.
However there is one thing she hates, and that is pi.
It all began on one… I have no idea what day or month, so let’s skip that- it all began one day when she was looking through her favorite Khan Academy math videos and came across a fun, easy-to-learn math youtuber named Vi Hart. You see, Vi Hart was very cool. She taught my sister how to make hexaflexagons, and she also taught her about logarithms and something called fibonacci.
However, there was another thing Vi Hart did…
And that was HATE PI!
Instead of Pi, Vi Hart preferred Tau. She wrote a whole three minute long song about it, and about how bad Pi is. This has sadly influenced my sister’s opinions when she has, in reality, received no substantial evidence- either to the contrary or otherwise.
Thankfully this has not led to the hatred of actual pie (though she has indeed come close), because that would be a DISASTER. However, it has led to some strange conspiracy theories, such as: Is my sister secretly a member of the underground tau clan?
Her argument against pi stated something along the lines of this: If you cut a pie using the pi ratio and multiplying the ratio of the pie, barely anyone gets pie, whereas if you used tau everyone would get roughly 1/8th. (These are not her exact words)
In conclusion, my sister is strange and I vote that we should completely rescind her pie privileges.

PART #3:

DRUID GROVE:

NOTE:
Throughout this, I have a few suggestions for what you might want to do with this setting. By no means do you need to follow them.

The story is set in a small settlement known to its inhabitants as ‘Druid Grove’. To others, it’s simply ‘The place you wouldn’t want to go’. It is surrounded by a ring of trees and fire to keep away trespassers, and also a dark, murky forest is to the side. But the fire has more than one use - it is used by the Druids (also known as Elders). They believe that the fire gives them connection with the spirits of nature and elements; the way it keeps out trespassers is mostly just a bonus.
The Elders of Druid Grove are a series of high-ranking elders in the town - or one might even call it a hamlet. They control the town, and have ultimate power over everything. They all must be male (you might want to dive deeper into this for your story: the Druid Grove is a very sexist society, so you might want a rebellious girl/woman as your protagonist), as the inhabitants believe that women are ‘weak’ and ‘useless’ - particularly the Druids. Druids have to go through years of rigorous training, and then take a test to ensure that they are trustworthy. Those who fail are Banished to the forest to the right. Banishment is the ultimate punishment, only for the worst. Only fifteen people in the history of Druid Grove have ever been Banished (perhaps you might want to experiment with this?) - after all, there aren’t many willing to go through the arduous process of becoming an Elder, and Elders live incredibly long lives, so they don’t need new Elders often.

Apart from the Druids/Elders, there is one other special thing about the grove. Unless you know every rule, the exact location, and everything about it, it is impossible to reach Druid Grove. They do this because nobody can ever leave - the people of the grove (particularly the Druids) need to know they will dedicate their life to improving the grove. However, if they are worried that Druid Grove needs more workers or just inhabitants in general, they may open the barrier and force people in.

I hope if you use Druid Grove, you’ll enjoy writing and earn more points, no matter what cabin you’re in! <3

Main Cabin Daily Writing Prompt:

Prompt: It's Pi Day! Write a narrative or descriptive with a minimum of 300 words about Pi Day or perhaps about pie. Worth 500 Points for cabin.
Word Count: +564

Willie-Lee knew darn well that he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and that was fine, he had enough brains to take care of his brothers and help his Grandma on the farm. That was enough; yet, recently, there had been a lot of suspicious talk. Talk about things that are supposed to remain in the walls of the capitol. Small trickles of information that had been leaking into his consciousness as he went to and from town.

There were a few rules that were abided by here, so abundantly important, they were recited everyday at 3:14 in the morning and at night. The man had entered town this morning, fifteen minutes before the chime sounded, and the townsfolk - usually bustling with activity and burdened by responsibilities - were gathered silent as a grave in the town square. The fountain sparkled in the morning light, as well maintained and orderly as ever; the only oddity, of course, being the group of twenty or so people patiently waiting. Willie-Lee, dead set on picking up that gosh-darned pipe he had been meaning to get to fix the kitchen sink, mostly ignored the odd congregation of people. He was from around these parts, but even he couldn't always figure out what was up with these townsfolk. He'd long since just decided to let them do as they please and just follow the rules whenever he entered town. It wouldn't be a pain to have to go twice the distance to pickup supplies every week. A big pain indeed.

“Howdy,” he said, making eye contact with one of the little boys he'd seen running around on the weekends. The boy stared blankly at him, not at all like the ball of energy he'd seen before. The expression sent a shiver down Willie-Lee's spine. No good ever came from folks acting all different and strange.

Willie-Lee huffed awkwardly, glancing around between the faces of the people present. Then he returned his attention to the boy, “You okay, little buddy?” The boy shuffled, eyeing the crowd gathered around in the square and then, almost coyly, he beckoned for Willie-Lee to lean down. The man, uncomfortable with the general atmosphere of the town this Saturday, eyed the crowd before obliging and crouching to lend the boy his ear.

“It's Pi Day,” the boy whispered, then scampered off as if he had just spoken a forbidden secret. Willie-Lee stood, ignoring the popping of his knees for the time being.

The 3:14 PM chime sounded just as the boy disappeared from sight, the folks gathered suddenly bustling into a near perfect circle around the fountain. Then they began to speak. Willie-Lee knew what to expect from the daily rules, the odd formations and the blank looks was what bothered him.

Finally, the last of the five town rules was reached, the group concluding, “Thou does not bake that which killed Ricky Gumptrigger.”

Willie-Lee, taking this as his chance to leave, began to retrace his steps out of town. He knew he wasn't the brightest, or the cleverest, but, by golly, that pipe he needed could wait another day or two. He definitely did not need to be involved with whatever Pi Day was and he definitely did not want to stick around and find out why there was a sudden change. Maybe going to the next town over wouldn't be half bad.

Notes:
I was goofing off with Behind the Names' random name generator and I realized I had never used any of the whimsical names. Let me tell you, the last names for the “hillbilly” category are off the wall. Willie-Lee, for example, was generated and the last name that came with it was Chickentrigger. Dude, I could not pass up that name. Though some other notable names include “Bobbi-Jane Pickupgreaser” and “Ricky-boy Pigpuller.” If you ever need a dumb name, this generator has you covered.

3/14/22 - Pi day writing:
It’s Pi day. Okay? Great? Let’s celebrate? My sister had pie in her class to celebrate. I didn’t have anything. I’m not too devastated, but I would have gone for some key lime. Pi is an interesting number. I like that it goes on forever, and it is very useful in calculating circles and stuff. Unfortunately for me, I’ve moved on to polynomials and quadratics. I haven’t really used Pi in either of those.
This has to be 314 words long. No more, no less. Actually, it doesn’t have to, but I want it to be, because I think that’s cool. So now I journal about Pi for… 204 more words.
Thinking about Pi reminds me - I have some algebra homework to do. Not much, just a few problems to get ready for our quadratics quiz tomorrow. Maybe I should be doing that instead of this? Nah. I’m very good at prioritizing, as you can see. Pioritizing?
No. Don’t even start with your bad jokes.
I do have a ton though; my real life friends like to tell me science and math jokes, like:
“Luke, use the mass times acceleration!”
Or:
“What do you call a neutral sea lion? A seal!”
And one of my favorites…
“Who led the Israelites through the red semi-permeable membrane? OsMoses!”
I have great friends.
However, most of those are science jokes. Do I have any math jokes from my friends?
Yes, actually, I do.
Picture “x^2 + 4x + 4” saying “Rats! I’ve been foiled again!”
It might not make sense. It didn’t make sense until I started doing the chapter on polynomials.
The same polynomials and quadratics (which are pretty much polynomials on a graph) that took the place of my math that involved Pi.
Funny how things come full circle like that.
Okay, okay, that was pretty bad. I really need to stop now. I’m sorry.
Word count: 314

438 words. School assignment

Aesthetic: “So, your aesthetic is darkness?” Sera asked Aksinia. “Black roses, black nails, shadows and vampires?”

Eclectic: “Hey, my aesthetic is very eclectic, okay?” Aksinia retorted. “I looked through many sources to find my inner meaning.”

Gratuitous: Jayna poked her black-haired head around the wall. “I couldn’t help but overhear, and I have something to add to this conversation. I-”
“Nope, don’t need to hear anything gratuitous,” Sera shut her off before she could start.

Inevitable: But Jayna’s chatter was inevitable. She would always find a way to talk, and it would happen no matter what. “Like I was saying!” she shouted loudly, walking fully around the wall. “Sera, you should respect Aksinia’s aesthetic!”

Irony: “That’s ironic,” Sera responded. “Since, you know, you basically bully all the little kids for liking cartoons- cartoons are their aesthetic.”

Predilection: Aksinia sighed. “Look, can we all just accept my darkness-born predilection for the night?”

Negligible: “Fine.” Jayna left, walking around the wall to another hallway.
“This will make a negligible difference,” Sera added as she left, too, “but I still think that ‘born of darkness’ stuff is a bit over dramatic.”

Expedient: “Plus, it’s not expedient!” A chirpy voice announced.
“Oh dear, more gratuitous information,” Aksinia sighed as Veronique De Witt, A+ student with a 4.0 GPA and class president every year since preschool, arrived.
“Having that mood isn’t very expedient for your future,” Veronique informed her with a giggle. “Albert Einstein said that, you know.”

Apocryphal: “That’s…apocryphal.” Aksinia frowned. “I don’t really think he said that.”

Heinous: “And isn’t it a heinous crime to misquote or miscite works, like you said in Reading/Writing Workshop yesterday?” She added.

Legitimate: Veronique glared. “I didn’t say that! And you weren’t in that class, so you don’t know! Whoever told you I said that must not be a legitimate source!”
Legislate: Veronique put her hands on her hips. “I should legislate that no gossiping can be allowed!”

Mundane: “Veronique, this was about my aesthetic? Can we get to the point, you mundane, ordinary fool?” Askinia insulted her.

Arduous: “YOU CALL ME MUNDANE?” Veronique shrieked loudly. “Do you know how arduous it was to get in this position? I had to work and study every day, and befriend all my voters, and, and-”

Prodigal: “And your rich parents spent money quite prodigally to make many donations to the school,” Askinia snapped.

Quixotic: “Oh, shut it,” Veronique sneered. “At least I’m not you, you quixotic dumbhead! You imagine so many quixotic goals for the school that could never happen! I’m glad I won that election!”

And with that, she turned and stalked off.

Name: Raiden ‘Rai’ Yikao
Age: 17
Pronouns: they/them
Species: Human

Personality and Traits: Rai is quick. Fast-paced and living in the next moment, they’re always moving forward and never looking back. They’re very ambitious, and enjoy setting large, luxurious goals- and love the challenge of searching for the fastest way to meet them. The main thing that gets in the way of this for them, however, is their sense of empathy. Their compassion constantly gets in the way of taking the quickest paths to success, and it’s a constant debate of whether that’s truly a path they're willing to take. But The idea of failure is something they cannot accept- won’t accept. Although they won’t admit it, failure is a struggle that terrifies them to their very core. The conflict and constant debate leads to desperation as they close off possible options to themself to achieve their goals. They have a very diplomatic nature, and prefer to get their points across through words rather than actions. They’re much more of a talker than a doer- making it difficult for them to actually achieve their goals. Will they find a way to succeed in their goals or will they fall to failure? Will they cross their morals or stay behind the line? Only the story will be able to tell.

Wants, Hopes, and Strengths: Alright, starting with Rai’s “wants”! The main thing that Rai strives to do is to achieve their goals quickly- and effectively. The idea of failure daunts them greatly, which is why they always set such grand and ambitious standards for themselve to achieve. Despite their compassionate side always holding them back, this is the main thing they want- even though they’re their own greatest obstacle to achieving it. Transitioning into hopes now- Rai hopes to leave an impact on the world. They’re a visionary, always looking to the future. To them, the future is a blank canvas of potential- one that she wants to leave a bright, bold mark on. Their ambitious side desires to leave a large, fulfilling legacy to the rest of the world: something that will make them remarkable, something that will make them remembered. And finally, strengths! As stated, Rai is ambitious and a visionary, meaning that they are adept at coming up with pioneering ideas and solutions, albeit not being the best at executing them. As more of a talker, they are very diplomatic, and have a way with words- one could call them a silver tongue. Lastly, while this does prove to be their downfall for the majority of their time, their empathy counts as a strength as well! They have the capacity of compassion and caring for others; even if it does hinder and conflict them, it could be proven to be an asset…if only they could learn to utilize it to their advantage.

Dislikes and Fears: Rai’s biggest fear is their fear of failure. The idea daunts them, the idea of falling is something they cannot bear. They strive so hard to go big, to make an impact on the world- if they fail at something, anything, to them it feels like they’ve failed completely. The reason they work to be so far ahead of the crowd stems from their secondary fear- being left behind. They dream to be someone who’s brilliant, remarkable, someone who shines above the others. They’re scared of being inferior; left behind in the darkness. As for their dislikes, ironically contradictory to everything else I’ve said, they dislike doing things. The idea of something to them is better than actually doing it- they can envision their success in their mind. If they do it, the chance of failure that may occur is permanent. Unchangeable. They can weave up the most ambitious and pioneering ideas- but executing them is always where they fall.

Weekly: Character

Character:
Name: Kiana Patel
Age: 17
Species: Human

Personality and Traits: Kiana is a boisterous, and fun character. She always wants her own way, and when she doesn't get it, it rattles her greatly. She won't do anything that she doesn't want to - even if people try to force her. She can be short-tempered, but she only lets go of her temper when she's trying to defend someone she cares about dearly. You shouldn't mess with Kiana. She is an honest individual, and loyal to her friends. She promises to never let them go. She's also courageous, brave and if assigned an element, she would be fire. She refuses to let anything drag her down and will never give up. Sometimes, she hates life, but she doesn't let it get to her. Her friends can sometimes see through her “don't careish” mask, but she pretends to ignore their concern. At times, Kiana can be quite arrogant, but again, this is usually shown to people who she despises, due to her not getting on well with people she doesn't know. She can also be quite fickle, but her friends help her make an decisions that she needs to. She'd risk her life for her friends. Sometimes, she's quite clumsy, but most people fail to notice this flaw - as she keeps it quite discrete. +211

Wants, Hopes, and Strengths: Kiana is striving to run her own business. Because of her noticeable confidence she feels like she'd make a good business owner and this is the direction she wants to work towards. She hopes to find love and have kids one day - something which she has never done suspects might never happen because of how wary she is around new people. She wants people to like her and she wants to be able to keep in her temper and her arrogance. She doesn't want to end up lonely and she wants all of her friends to stay forever; she knows that life moves on whatever happens though. But she really doesn't want life to move on. Kiana is good at climbing and running too - she's sporty and this has gotten her into many sporting teams. She enjoys sport, but not as much as she enjoys being independent and in-charge. Her friends believe that she'd make a good business owner but she's told no one else about her plans for the future - especially not her parents that look down on her. What Kiana really doesn't want to do is become like her parents when she's older; she wants to be her own person and not be held down by her family. +210

Dislikes and Fears: She HATES not getting her own way. She also keeps fearing that all her friends will move on and leave her behind - abandoning her so that she's left alone. She dislikes it when her friends tease her though. She wants everyone to get along - but they never do. She also fears death, despite being brave. She hates the idea of leaving everyone and everything behind; she thinks it's a scary and touchy topic. She also hates how she loses her temper very easily and quickly; she wants to stop this but it's an automatic self-defence mechanism that she cannot control. She just wants to be like everyone else. +108

The story takes place in the Isles of Eteri. Eteri means ether, or the sky; a recurring theme in the isles. The land is made up of two different isles, both unique in climate and setting. The two are separated by the vast Wren Lake, which doesn’t let many visitors to and fro the isles.

The first isle is the Ilarion Island. Ilarion meaning joy, this crescent-shaped island is thriving and full of life. Set in a tropical rainforest biome, its emerald green palm trees spread across the vast majority of the surface, swaying gently in the relaxing winds. As the trees take up most of the island floor, the people there have managed to live in the canopies, building treehouses in the branches and connecting their homes into a society with ropes and bridges. The weather there is kind to the island, with moderate rainfall, soft breezes, warm temperatures and lots of sunshine. The most notable landmark is what the society likes to call “The Square Market,” located at the heart of the rainforest island. Connected by rope bridges in a square shape, the market takes up multiple stories, hosting floors for food, entertainment, everyday items and more. It’s the heart and soul of the community! The people residing on the island are thriving in this world- but only so on one rule: Never approach Taiga’s Bane.

The second isle has been dubbed “Taiga’s Bane'' by the villagers. Holding true to it’s name, it has traits similar to that of a taiga biome, with its freezing temperature, chilly winds that never seem to die, and an abundance of tall, crooked pine trees. The best word to describe this treacherous isle is stormy. There are storms- constant storms. Jagged cobalt lightning flashes around the island, the imminent rumble of thunder is always lingering. Rain on the island is rare, but the howling wind whips the trees violently. The sky is a sickly shade of dark gray, always hovering above the horizon like a cloud of depression. Waves fiercely lap against the grey, sandy beach, stealing any life that may be lingering on the shore. Not much is known about what goes past the shore- nobody has traveled into Taiga’s Bane before and lived to tell the tale. Only the survivors who were driven away by the harsh winds, never making it the full way across Wren Lake were the ones with tales to share. There’s something mysterious about that island…but nobody has been daring enough to risk their lives to uncover the truth.

After an abundance of villagers died from traveling across Wren Lake, or those lucky enough to arrive at the shore of Taiga’s Bane disappeared, never to be seen again, traveling to Taiga’s Bane was ultimately forbidden. Once a year, Ilarion Island hosts a special festival, honoring the lives of those lost to exploring Taiga’s Bane. The story takes place on the day of this festival…however, this year, other forces appear to be at work.

Setting!

Up , past the highest reaches of Twilcon peaks and past the fluffy white clouds that hover over the east borders of Ethein lies a series of floating islands. They flock towards a larger mother island upon which lies the stables of Arad. This stone marvel is a school where it’s pupils learn the dangerous art of riding dragons. The high stone pillars support open, winding stairs that lead to wide, stones stables which have soft hay beds that are replenished every week by eagle delivery from the ground far below. Perched atop these pillars are dragons of all shapes, sizes, colours and species. In order to make sure every dragon has perching spots, little holes, nooks and crannies have been hollowed out courtesy of the Labes dragons with their ability to spew lava. The dragon stables are at the front of and all around a castle of sorts with round rooms and turrets placed precariously on top of the pillars and large open rooms with massive sections taken out of the walls for easy dragon access. The pupils stay warm in this rooms due to their dragon companions which are assigned at the start of their journey as a dragon rider when they are between the ages of 6 and 12. Unless of course their dragon is a Kryoventi because due to their specialised ice abilities, they give off cold instead of heat. In the case of this, the rider is give variation of the uniform lined with the feathers of a Plumplum Dragon.

When you first join the school, you’re lead to a stone circle directly below the main island and around the circle are rings and rings of crystals. Little do you know that directly above you, dragons are doing the exact same thing. When you and a dragon are drawn to the same crystal, the stone circle starts to glow and you’re transported up to your dragon and the crystal breaks in half and floats into each of your chests. This means that you and your dragon are bonded for life and you can sense when the other’s in danger. Riders are encouraged to create a specific whistle to tell their dragon where they are.

The pupils sleep in the assorted turrets perched on pillars. Each student is randomly assigned a turret and they’ll share this turrent with around 5 other people give or take. The turrets are linked with stone walkways and battlements for example firefrost turret is linked to morningdew turret and so on.

SWC Weekly #2 Premise

Your MC comes home from wherever they were (work or school whatever you want) and goes into the backyard to let out their dog. Nobody else is home. Suddenly, there is a rustling coming from the forest that meets up to your backyard, blocked by a wood fence. The dog immediately runs right to the fence and starts barking, then goes around the small hole in the bottom of your fence and wriggles through it to the other side. There are barking sounds and the sound of a large something crashing quickly through the underbrush. The two sounds slowly fade away as the dog chases the ‘something’. Your MC calls the dog's name (it can be whatever you want) and hops the fence to see what happened, and gasps because there’s a large path of trampled grass, plants, and bushes leading away from the house. In the middle of the path are huge footprints of an unknown beast. Your MC decides that they’re going to investigate the footprints and find their dog.
The concept is basically your dog gets captured by a strange monster and you try to save it.

You’re on a peaceful stroll, pondering in the depths of your thoughts. You walk in silence, completely alone in your surroundings. Not a single other soul is to be found. Your walk appears to be quite uneventful, until you feel your feet trip over something as you stumble to the ground. As you regain your bearings, you try to search for what you tripped on. You find a book, a peculiar-looking book with a shimmery, emerald green cover. Shifting to a position on your knees, you decide to pick it up and examine it closer. Flipping through the pages, you skim back and forth until you land on a particularly odd one, different from the rest. Unlike the rest of the book, it looks old, worn, like wrinkled parchment. The ink looks faded, aged. Now curious, you gently trace your hand along the raven black lettering, when it suddenly starts to glow a bright, gleaming silver…

Weekly: Setting

It will take place in a busy city - like Chicago, New york City or London for example. There will be multiple large buildings close together but spread out over the entire place. At night the city is covered with bright fairy lights which - from a distance - light up the whole city. The city lacks nature and vibrant colours though, and is mostly full of polluted cars and vans. Any grass found in the city is quite yellow.

Many people live there and the houses are posh and rich - only wealthy people live there. Never will there be someone sleeping on the streets. Every house has air-conditioning inside, outside and in the garden. There are many fancy restaurants which have decorative glass panes.

There are many golf courses littered around the city, along with basketball courts and heated outdoor swimming pools. Streets parties with luxurious food are often hosted.

Every other day, there is a market, it's often very busy and the food is good quality. No one wants to miss the market - and everyone tries to attend/

In the centre of the city, there is this weird unexplainable patch of grass filled with daffodils. No one knows how it's there because no one ever looks after it or nurtures it. The city never even rains - it's surprising there's no drought or famine. Usually it's sunny, occasionally cloudy, and it snows in Winter, but it oddly never rains. They always have a water supply though. There's a large well towards the right of the city - people sometimes collect water from there, but no one knows how it's full, and no one knows when or how it was built.

The only animal life in the city is domestic animals - most families have these.

In places, oddly there are brick walls, previously been
knocked down. No one knows how the walls got there or
why they were now lying, broken on the ground. There's a massive wooden fence - guarded with barb wire
that runs around the length of the city, like a protective
shield. Everyone knows that in this city they're one
hundred percent safe. The roads are regularly having refurbishments - making
the residents happy - therefore the roads are smooth and
often look a dark black in colour. The pavements too are
often refurbished, like nothing is ever out of place and like
all the residents are always pleased. The centre is also littered with statues of recognisable
people.

Daily for 3/14
I got 314 words completely on accident lol, how did i do that-

“Cherry pie, delicious!” I say as my mother brings in a cherry pie for dessert. “My favorite.” I grab a slice and start shoveling it into my mouth. It is amazing.
“Remember, apple pies are too,” Dad says, taking a second slice of the apple pie that had already been on the table.
“I know, dad,” I say, laughing. He says this every time I get excited about cherry pie. We both absolutely love math, so it's a fun joke to have. I actually do like cherry pie, though, and Dad actually does prefer apple pie. That's why the joke is so funny. When we say it, every word is true. It also means that whenever Mom makes one pie, she has to make another too. Double the pie for us!
“Slow down with the pie, you two,” my mother says. “You don't want to get a stomachache.” She says this every time we have cherry pie, too. I smile.
You know, now that I think about it, what we do every time Mom makes cherry sounds like a routine. I say "Cherry pie, delicious,' Dad replies with ‘Apple pies are too,’ and Mom tells us not to eat too fast or we'll get a stomachache.
Maybe at this point, it actually is a routine. I wouldn't care either way, though. It's still fun no matter how many times we make the same tired old jokes to each other.
I guess that's what family is. Being able to make the same joke a hundred times over without getting tired of it. Sharing a love of something and enjoying that.
Today is Pi Day, so it's extra special today. Mom always makes us cherry and apple pie on Pi Day. Not that we don't get it other times too, because we most certainly do.
Always remember: Cherry pie is delicious, but apple pies are too.

Pi day daily!

Pi is a numerical value used in geometry, and can be implemented to almost anything that involves circles or spheres. It is a little more than three, and the closest you probably ever need is three and a seventh, or twenty-two divided by seven. (Both come to the same value.) Pi is probably the most popular transcendental number, followed by e, which is roughly two and a half.
There are multiple equations that use pi, but the most simple one is this, which relates to circles: circumference equals diameter multiplied by pi. As diameter is twice the length of the radius, this equation could also be represented as circumference equals two multiplied by pi, multiplied by the radius. (The circumference is the perimeter of the circle, the length around the outside.)
Now we know about the outside of the circle, it is time to dive into the inside; the area of a circle is equivalent to four thirds multiplied by pi, multiplied by the radius squared. This might be hard to explain without a diagram, but I can assure you that I will try my best. Firstly, let’s focus on a quarter of a circle rather than the whole shape. A quarter of a circle equals a third multiplied by the radius squared, multiplied by pi! If you were to put the quarter of a circle into the smallest square you could, the area of that square would be equal to radius squared.
Once you know the area of a circle, you can work out the volume of a cylinder by multiplying the area of the circle by the height of the cylinder. Therefore, the volume of a cylinder must always be a transcendental number, unless it is rounded.
On the fourteenth of March every year, Pi day is celebrated. This is because the date in American style is 3/14. It was very special in 2015, because the date was 3/14/15, which is the first five digits of pi!

main cabin daily ⍋ 03.14.22
word count: 314

Why hello there! Today, I’ve decided to depart from my usual professional (to an extent) style of writing and defer to something a bit more nonfiction. Why, you may ask? Simple! I will be going into a 314 word rant, counting these words, about why Pi (@pitau) is one of the coolest human beings in existence.

To begin, Pi is a being of chaos. Evidence of this can be found in Pi’s latest leader app, from November 2022. Most leaders will title their app by their name and “a leader app”, such as “Coffee Shop - A SWC Leader App.” Pi’s app is quite literally called “CLOWN MODE CLOWN MODE.” Not to mention that her answers are marvelously chaotic, and of course there’s the imminent fact that the background music is “Never Going to Give you Up.” She ended up leading alongside Zura and Fenn, two of the other most chaotic beings in SWC existence! Moreover, she was brilliant enough to indulge in the kidnapping of C-3P0, an iconic event that occured in the Cybersiblings, courtesy of Luna’s SWC fanfiction weekly last session. If this isn’t a sign of chaos, I don’t know what is.

Secondly, Pi is a very talented human being! He’s very skilled at art, as can be seen from his many projects of sketches, such as the kpop boy, semirealistic head, and a tiefling. And of course, there are the glorious nonfiction icons, illustrated by none other than Pi himself last session. Pi is also a very talented writer, and while I don’t have any on hand examples of his writing, anyone who’s clicked on his writing in the main cabin is always automatically impressed by his writing! Very talented indeed /gen

You can see that Pi is a wonderfully chaotic person who enjoys to be appreciated on this fine day named after them. Thank you for coming to my TED talk! <3

side note - i'd like to clarify that this is all geniune, despite this having a somewhat dry tone! pi really is an awesome person :D /gen /pos

MC March 14 Daily

It was Pi day today and on Pi day my science and math teachers host a Pi reciting competition. Here's what happened today:
Today at lunch we got these little mini cookie cream pies. Since of COVID they couldn't pass out slices of actual pie like they usually would. But anyways, after lunch we had the competition. We went to my school's auditorium and sat down, socially distanced of course. My math teacher introduced what we were doing and the competition commenced. We went grade by grade (8,7,6). Now, I'm not going to say what grade I am, but I will say what place I got and what specifically happened! First went a boy in 8th grade. He got 7 digits I believe. Throughout the competition, people were serious and comedic. There was a girl, the first serious contender, and got 53 digits. But some of the more joking people were this one girl who just said random numbers pretending to think about them. “uh. 8 …4 …3?” she said (well something along those lines) and another dude just spelt the word pie. “P-I-E” (Oh and ‘pie’ the way if you were wondering, the Pi song does count) There were some people that knew more but the rule was that if you made one mistake you were out. But the most digits one person said without making any mistakes was 125. The girl who did that got first place. The prize being a pie of course. I participated myself and got only 67, and I know only 67. Anyways I got 2nd place and the girl above with 53 digits got third. Prizes being for me, these marshmallow banana pies and third being the left over cookie pies (I will say though, the banana pies are disgusting, I also don't like banana's or marshmallows sooo). Anyway, that was that. Farewell.

(314 words )

Howdy do!
