This is why I only support discouraging people from using it, and not blacklisting it.
We're not talking about embedded images here on Scratch, we're talking about exploitations on Tinypic itself. Tinypic moderates it's images better than it moderates it's own ads.
*ahem* let me quote tinypic's privacy policy:
exhibit A: Third-party advertisements displayed on TinyPic Services may also contain cookies set by Internet advertising companies or advertisers. TinyPic does not control these cookies and Users of the TinyPic Services should check the privacy policy of the Internet advertising company or advertiser to see whether and how it uses cookies.

exhibit B: TinyPic Services may also carry advertisements from other companies. TinyPic is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites operated by third parties that are linked to or integrated with the TinyPic Services or for the privacy practices of third-party Internet advertising companies.
you cannot legally force them to moderate their ads because that's not their stuff. they're being paid to show those ads whether you like it or not, and that paycheck is what allows you to upload your images without the need to create an account. if you want to complain about the ads, duke it out with the companies responsible for marketing them.

As a long time Scratcher, I have found new meaning to the name “Scratch”: for me, it means to “scratch that itch”, to come back again and again to realize new ideas in this toy language, even when I'm capable of creating my projects in real programming languages years later. It's a friend that helped me to pursue programming and get me to enjoy its fruit. I'm certain many others who have walked this path as well have grown fond of its importance in their life.

I don't think distributing viruses falls under the category of “privacy practices” - more like “illegal but no one can control it”

I still think I'm going to make my own image hosting site with support for .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .svg, .svgz, .tiff, .apng, .pdf, and .webp files. Support for obscure formats can't hurt.

Sure! I'm going to need help with the backend code.

Edit: I've had a really short freenom domain (shack.cf) for a while, and we could use that, but I'm not sure how happy ImageShack would be.

Edit 2: I also have jackalope.cf for my Scratch mod that I'll probably never get around to finishing. We could use that. Jackalope sounds like a cool name for an image hosting service.

But seriously, anti-tinypic propaganda isn't going to get you anywhere. If anything, it'll cause paranoia between those who have used tinypic to host their images. Also if people are willing to risk it, they should still be able to use it as a host. While you (possibly) can get viruses from the site, at least you know that the images themselves are safe.
Since my preferable uploader, SomeImage, isn't whitelisted (plus blocked on my Mac), I am willing to use my second favorite, Tinypic. It shouldn't be blocked just because some people don't like it.
Some people? Try finding someone who likes viruses on their computer. There's not anything to debate really. Tinypic has viruses, CubeUpload doesn't. Minus the viruses, they are both the same. Why would you care which one you use?

I never said, “stop running advertisements altogether,” I meant “moderate the advertisements to filter out the malicious ones.”
That would take time and effort, neither of which tinypic is obligated to put into this. It would also lose them a lot of ad revenue since the malware ads are numerous enough to cause a problem for the users of this site. I don't think they'd do anything even if asked.
So what. You can sue them for abusing the minds of children as tiny pic is supposed to be family safe.

I don't think anyone, lawyer or ST, would be willing to put that much time into just trying to fix on website. They're much more likely just to block it. (I do mock trial though XD)

Anyway, your taking this a bit far; no legal procedures need to taken against tinypic.

Tell me when you've asked everyone on Earth. THEN you can speak for them.

I've never gotten a virus OR a beer ad and I've been using Tinypic for 2-odd years.
And as for alcohol ads, DJDolphin himself has a project using the word beer. That's just as bad as an ad for beer on an image hosting site that uses captcha, right?

And as for the person who said “I think we should all agree to move to CubeUpload” - Since when are you the king of what uploaders we can use? Maybe I don't want to use CubeUpload. I'm going to use Tinypic for the rest of my life.

Maybe it's my geographical location. Maybe it's my ad preferences that are out of my control. Maybe… and if that is the case with some users, it has the potential to be that way with ALL users.

cool down - and DJDolphin said something like “don't drink kids” and it was for “1000 bottles of beer on the wall” which is just a passing time game. It actually says “drink budweiser but please drink responsibly” and makes you type in please drink responsibly.

If it's going to mention completely legal drug use it's an added bonus that it says to do it responsibly- for example, not underage.

You came to a battle wearing that?
