Adding SVG tag in the project format
I think that SVG-only is the future of Scratch, but I do understand that a bitmap image editor is something easier to use for young children or for non-expert PC users. I guess there is a fair amount of Scratchers mostly interested in projects that use SVG-only images.
I would love to have a visible SVG tag on the project thumbnails in the Scratch homepage and in other pages showing thumbnails. But I understand that this is something that Scratch developers are not interested in. I could download all new projects and parse them by looking for bitmap images, but this would take probably forever before I get even a small amount of interesting SVG projects.
That is why I'm asking if, when saving a project, a tag could be added to the project format stating if the project uses only SVG images. In this way parsing the project files would take just a very short time and I could get a fair amount of interesting SVG projects in a reasonable time.
Thanks in advance for reading my suggestion.

You can't store photos in SVG. It's for drawings.
Yes, you can store every kind of image inside an SVG. You have indeed the “image” tag in the SVG format.

(#3)At that point you might as well just put a PNG or JPEG separately. Plus, according to MDN, “Animated GIF support is not defined”You can't store photos in SVG. It's for drawings.

This has very little benefit whatsoever. The use case you described is very specific.
