Excerpt #1: Prince Charming is cheating lol
Note: I wrote this last year and haven't edited it at all.

A large, fairy tale-like castle is situated at the end of Sycamore Rd. It looks rather out of place within all the suburban houses, although since it has been there for as long as anyone can remember, no one really questions it. Deep under the earth, at basement 4 of the castle, is where Ella sits at her desk. It is thought that the only person to live in the castle is Prince Charming, but that simply isn’t true, as you would know if you had any interest in the peculiar castle on Sycamore Rd.

As you already know, another person named Ella lives in the castle, she is more commonly known as Cinderella, but she has disregarded that name. I would paint you a picture of where she is sat and what she looks like, but I would rather leave that up to your interpretation, since I have two more people to introduce to you. Up in a tower in the far east wing of the castle you will find Belle, who you may know as Sleeping Beauty, although she thinks that is a horrible name. She is probably currently reading a book, she can never stop reading. On the ground floor in the south wing of the castle you will find Snow White, who apparently doesn’t have a name other than that. She’s probably…I don’t know, eating apples? 

You might be wondering why Prince Charming has three women living in his castle. The answer is simply because he’s married all three of them, unbeknownst to the women themselves.

Excerpt #2: Scenery Practice

Shards of icy moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, spreading into a cool glow across the newsroom. The curtains shuddered at an occasional breeze from an open window. Desks were scattered around the room, as if whoever placed them there didn't have much time on their hands to put them in order. Atop the desks were typewriters of all sizes, and ages. They were left with half finished papers in them, telling next week's news. Some of the desks had liquid white-out on them; all of the desks had cans and cups filled with assortments of pencils and pens. Notepads and files were haplessly strewn across desks, in-trays and out-trays. Some of the files had little drawings on them; flowers, patterns, the usual stuff. Everything was still, almost serene. The silence was warm, but also icy, as if there were someone watching. It seemed peaceful, at a glance. There was one thing though; all the drawers were empty.

Excerpt #3: Ghost (a poem I wrote last year)

For the first time, I noticed the world around me.
I thought back to what my grandmother told me;
You can't notice the little things, not until you stop running from them
I never realised that what I was always running from
Was time

I recklessly stumbled through the carefully woven web of life
Until there was nothing left of it,
My failure to appreciate the intricate structure
Left me blind to the dangers.

I leapt through it like it was the finish line to a race
Which in a way, it was
But this is the race no one wants to finish early.
After you reach the finish line
You haven't anything to do
But contemplate
How you got there
The first action that sent the ripples off
Your descent

It's funny how little everything matters until it's too late.
The impurities which we all so loath while we must endure them
Are what we end up missing most.

It's funny
When you think about it.
Everything that matters
Is so suddenly taken away from you.
The only company you have
Is the person who's hated you the most throughout your life
The person who's hated you the most;
Yourself.
