Bridges - SAC Weekendly #1
Part 1: You’ll be figuring out what is on your far side and near side of your bridge. Your far side means something you would like to achieve and your nearside is what's helping you right now. For example if you currently are learning addition and want to learn subtraction. Subtraction would be on your far side. Share your thoughts in a forum post, writing at least 100 words (or more)~ the first part is worth 200 points.
Optional: Which bridge are you?
Suspension - Spans long distances with lots of individual supports
Arch - Covers a shorter distance, each arch has a keystone that holds everything in place
Trestle - Can cover long distances, older style which can often have multiple levels What will help you get to your goal of being closer to the far side?
Part 2: Today, you will be drawing your bridge! Following the example from yesterday, on the near side I would draw myself knowing how to do addition, and on the far side I would draw myself trying to learn subtraction. In the middle/support I would draw myself in school learning math. Have fun! This part is worth 240 points.
Proof is required, and as a total you’ll earn 440 points towards your cabin! Send the link(s) in the main cabin before June 7th EST to claim your points, please put the link(s) together in one comment to avoid confusion!

I have two bridges. My first one is algebra, which is an arch. Why this bridge is an arch is because, it doesn’t necessarily take very long to learn it, but there are parts of algebra that are needed to learn others. When one part is lacking or missing, the rest will fall apart too. For example, exponents. You need to learn how to multiply and divide exponents and bases before you can incorporate them into algebraic expressions. My second bridge, is soccer, which is a trestle. Soccer is a long distance learning process. You can’t just learn it in one day, and you need support from teammates, coaches, and referees. There are different levels too. For example, in my soccer league, you can move up to better teams, as you get better. My ending goal for both of these is for algebra, learn it and remember it well before I start the next school year, and soccer, move up to premier or our city team jr. please tell me if I’m lacking any words ^^ thank uuu

(Just going to use this place because why not) I have several bridges currently! My first one is doing volunteer work for extra credit points but maintaining being socially distanced and all that! So for my near side i’m currently just semi-tutoring and doing spoken word essays on things people need to be aware about like pride month and much more (history months). The things that are helping me get closer to my far side is supportive friends and consulors, we stan those people. Another goal im comfortable with sharing is graduating to high school!! Kinda scary not gonna lie, but it’ll be good for my academics and i’m pretty young (13) and im going to high school yippe, so yay skipping a grade = cool.

I've got several bridges, because I do wayyyyy to many things haha- one is suspension, with me trying to complete my music theory in my choir (award winning, vv cool but daunting) to get into the honors choir (highest, touring), another, trestle, which is doing pre-algebra early so I can do algebra the same year as my older sister, which of course will get me to advance in high school (tho im 12, why am i thinking this far ahead xD). One other one is arch, I want to finish learning more piano and guitar, because now I'm songwriting more, and I'm taking a collage class for songwriting :D

I have many bridges but I'll tell some of them here : First one is suspension, which is beating my highscores in academics. I feel studying is quite boring but not when there's something new being taught in class
I am starting to get merit marks since last year, which makes me so proud- though i wanna score more than my last time
The second bridge is trestle, which is achieving extraordinary skills in Painting
I love working on paintings since my 3rd grade and ever since I am always ready to get messy and have fun with paints!
So for my near side to cross these bridges, I am just practicing art, and I am completing all my school assignments to achieve as much scores as i can! <3

My bridge im currently facing is speaking in the public, yeah you might think i like talking and all but really im just a shy person. I have gone to people to help me overcome my fear, and im starting to get better talking in class, but the thought of when i have to share to the whole school is crazy. So thats my far side, getting better at speaking in the public to finally being able to share to a whole crowd! Im overcoming the fear with close helpful friends, and im able to talk to a small group of close people (friends, family, relatives) so thats my near side!

Hello! One of my bridges is painting with detail using watercolour paints and that is an arch (or suspension, I’m not really sure xD). My near side is being able to paint most things with watercolour, but my far side is not being able to make it look like what it is. I have found a few techniques to help me paint more realistic pictures and I am practicing most days. I have started to paint more realistic landscapes with watercolour but I still struggle to paint other pictures. I can now make it look like light is shining onto different objects and in working on making things have better shape (like making pine trees more tall and pointy).

I guess my bridge is suspension?? Idrk but I guess my near side is drawing in my comfort zone, I really wanna expand and start drawing things out of my comfort zone like backgrounds or drawings more traditional art since 90% of my work is digital. I really wanna work on my backgrounds, I really like finished drawings with amazing backgrounds so I am currently trying to draw some!

i have a lot of bridges, but the one i'll talk about is my music one. on the near side is me learning / playing piano. my parents put me in music lessons when i was 5, so i'm very good at basic music concepts, since i grew up with them. on the far side would be me trying to learn other instruments ( violin, singing, ukulele (kind of) ). in the middle is my wonderful parents, who are always helping me learn more about music by listening to me practice and giving me tips (my dad plays trumpet and my mom plays saxophone and was a band teacher so they know what they're talking about), helping me financially, (paying for my piano lesson, paying the fee to be in the community choir, buying ukulele books, going to pay for my violin lessons over the summer, etc), and just being there for moral support (encouraging me to do things not in my comfort zone, such as when i was adituioning for jazz band, just helping me by giving me tips, saying i'm improving when i'm practicing, saying it sounds really good, and recording the video too). every day i get closer to that far side by practicing piano, practicing those instruments i'm learning, even just listening to music. my music journey has been amazing and one day i know i'll look back and see how much i've improved!

Well I guess my bridge is drawing people. The far side is drawing other things and my near side is improving on my people I'm drawing. My friend is always wanting to draw the way I do so I teach them. FAR SIDE: I haven't been drawing very many landscape things, but I am in art class at school, but now for sac I will be at home. I guess I might draw people sometimes in those landscapes, but I will be drawing more landscapes than I would when I am sketching. NEAR SIDE: I've been improving all the time, but only in little parts. That means whenever I sketch, I improve on at least one small thing, which can lead to other improvements. This can lead to bigger improvements that I use all the time in my art now. So when I have the biggest improvement in one of those chain things of improvement, I use that improvement in my art all the time.

My main bridge, which is a Suspension bridge is making art out of my comfort zone and do it in a traditional/canvas way. This bridge of mine is a Suspension cause it is really hard for me to get out of my comfort zone and start something new and this goal doesn't. I have been trying lots of new art forms, mainly the traditional ones and I am making some progress
. My near-side is reading the whole set of Percy Jackson and the Other Olympians books cause I love that series. It's my near side because it's really easy to do it

My far side would be Spanish and Math in school because I'm kind of behind. I'm also not the best at traditional painting, especially acrylic painting. I got more familiar with watercolor painting in my art project for school though, so watercolor would be closer to the keystone.
My near side would be English and Visual Arts for school because I find them fun and I do well in those subjects. My favorite part about English is when we get to chunk poems, which is splitting poems in lines and interpreting the meaning. I think that gets me thinking creatively and I'm a huge over-thinker, so that's why English is on the near side. Visual arts has always been my favorite subject since Grade 6 because it boosts my creativity skills and gives me an excuse to draw as homework
I think I'm an arch bridge because the “keystone” would be practice. With practice, I can improve my painting skills, Spanish, and Math. Since I'm very practiced with English and Art, I'm skilled in those school subjects and I look forward to continuing my practice over the summer break.

Okay. I don't really know what my bridges are but uhm I'll try. So one of my bridges is uhm digital art. The far side is digital art and the near side is a traditional art. I haven't quite figured out how to do digital art very well so yeah. And that bridge is a suspension bridge. And then there is schoolwork. It is an arch bridge. Nearside is all the work I have done so far in the school year and the far side is the rest of the school year. I want to go to the other side but at the same time, I fear the journey because then there are finals and all the tests at the end.

The far side of my bridge is animating, as I'd really like to be a professional animator one day, but I'm very far from reaching that dream. I feel like writing/art is my near side as I feel like I'm fairly good at both and those are both crucial parts of animating. Another bridge of mine is piano on the near side and viola on the long side. I have many bridges, honestly, these are just a few.
I feel like both of my bridges are suspension bridges, but it's weaker on the other side because I don't have a few supports on the other end. Sure, anyone can still walk the bridge, but it's not very stable. Once I place those supports, it'll be easier to walk to the other side.

My bridge is a trestle, when I look up to an animator or artist with amazing art. It makes me feel bad about mine, this can range from complete and total art block to trying to improve or replicate their style. It has many levels, at my end is me and my current art style but at the other end, there are these amazing artists and creators that I look up to. I wish I could cross the bridge and improve my art skills. I don't want to completely replicate my inspirations but I don't want to look tiny beside them.

Right now I have several bridges. The first one would be a trestle bridge because there are several thing or “levels” I have to go through first. The first one has to do with my music. I love singing, I am a singer, I preform in shows and what not. But as an Alto I can't hit super high or super low notes (well I guess that's two bridges) and I've been trying really hard to do that loudly. First I would have to learn how to hit low notes/high note, then again I would need to learn how to hit low/high notes, and then I would need to learn how to project those notes which are very hard but, can be accomplished. The second one would be my art. I really want to learn how to do digital art better because I haven't done much of it because I know traditional art better. I would say that's it's a suspension bridge because I do believe it will be hard and a long journey. (176 words)

I have a lot of bridges, so let’s not note all of them :b Anyways, my most important one, learning programming, is an arch, which is the far side of my bridge. Because the concepts build upon each other, and if you skip a step, you will most likely not get the rest. Another bridge of mine is getting a head start on trigonometry, so that I don’t have much trouble with it during high school, which is also on the far side. The near side of this one is knowing Algebra. And as I have completed the course, it’ll help me with getting a head start. I would like to learn how to play the flute at an advanced level (far side) and as I’m already an intermediate player (near side), I shouldn’t have much trouble.
