3D Extension
The Scratch Team has considered your idea, and rejected it for the following reason.
1.8 3D Scratch This block, and others, could be used with a z-axis in the project stage to make it easier to create 3D projects. But, Scratch is a language that is designed to be as easy as possible for beginners to learn. Adding 3D features would make the language more difficult for beginners to understand, and a 3D engine is not exactly the purpose of Scratch. This suggestion also includes the possibility for a virtual-reality features in Scratch, or “Scratch VR.” A lot of the same difficulties come up. There is a similar program to Scratch that contains block programming with 3D features, called Starlogo TNG. You can also try Alice; it is not exactly like Scratch, but has some similar features. In the future, please read The Official List of Rejected Suggestions before posting.

I don’t think it will make new scratchers more confused as I am suggesting it be part of an extension, not of the main Motion blocks.

There are actually more than one solutions to the problem, such as making a 3D sprite option with 3D Motion blocks or 3D Mode, such as what they did in TURBO Mode.

3D Motion blocks or 3D Mode, such as what they did in TURBO Mode. That's not practical. If I turn it off, what will happen to the blocks with a 3D part to them? Will they stop running, thereby breaking the project. Nobody would turn this feature off (as there's no reason to), so it'd effectively be the same as just adding a 3D mode that you can't turn off.

I agree with you, Ihart, ands, personally, I would choose the 3D Sprite idea. This way, you can create both 2D and 3D games with ease. If this is still a problem where every new scratcher gets confused, they can just restrict it.

Sorry, but we don't have any intent to 3D to Scratch. As you're already starting to see, there are a lot of challenges to implement it and I think it's outside the scope of the vision we have for Scratch. If you want to program 3D games or simulations, there are other programs better suited for that.
