Scratch 3.0 Won't Save a Project When There's an Audio File Imported?

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 73.0.3683.75, No Flash version detected

I have been working on a project, and I wanted to add some music to a sprite that will play when the green flag is clicked, for some reason, when it is imported, the project won't save, and will prompt me to download the project, or try again. When the song is deleted from the sprite, the project save's perfectly fine. Is there a solution to this?

Thank you.

I've seen many posts mentioning this. I think the problem here is the length of your audio file. I once uploaded an audio file that was 5 minutes long, and that prevented the project from saving. I don't know the exact limit, though.

Odd that there's a limit, thank you for the help.

Glad I could help!

P.S. The limit wasn't made on purpose, it is a bug.

This has helped me too, i never knew there was a time limit bug! I'm making an animation meme as a dtae, and it wont save when audio is edited. I will try and crop the audio now.

It has nothing to do with the length - it's all about the size, and it's not a bug. Scratch limits the size of assets to 10 MB, so any project containing an audio file larger than that will refuse to save.

If issues like this irritate you, click here to read my suggestion about warning users when they exceed a space limit. The limit will still be there, but it will be much less irritating because it tells you about it - if I get it implemented, that is.

Hi there! This post is a little old now, and the issue has seemingly fixed itself. Thank you for your input though, I'll be sure to use it if I ever run into this issue again!

This post is old, but I have a tip for the future. WAV, and other lossless compression audio files fill up the data cap in about two minutes. However bad they sound, lossy compression sound files like MP3 are what you want to use.

WAV is uncompressed, not lossless, and editing a sound in the Scratch audio editor automatically converts it to WAV.
