Vector or Bitmap? What's the difference?

For Scratchers, in projects, the most important thing to get attention is the artwork. Whether it's images to drawings, they could be anything. There are 2 ways that you can do your artwork, bitmap and vector. So, what's the difference? Which one is better?

Before I say the short answer, we need to go through bitmap and vector. Let's start with bitmap. It's included in many projects along with it going straight to bitmap when you upload a PNG. Think of bitmap as pixels. It's more rendered to fit pictures inside it. It's like MS Paint, but with more pixels. From vector to bitmap, there is a big difference. Exporting a costume will export is as a PNG, or Portable Network Graphics.

Now, onto Vector. It's more of the default artstyle. It has been included in most of the default sprites on Scratch. Vector is based on shapes and was my preferred style of artstyle before the border degrades my sprites and I found bitmap more aesthetically pleasing (good looking). A big mechanic is the reshape tool, which allowed me to make good sprites and humanoid-like characters. When you export a vector costume, you export it as an SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics.

Lastly, to the final answer. There is no best of best, but I'd say, for beginners and pros, go vector since it makes good looking sprites with the lack of experience, and with people who can do pixel art, use that software to make sprites and import it to Scratch, which makes bitmap sprites. However, if you prefer one over the other, go for it!

TL;DR, If you can't do pixel art, go vector, if so, go bitmap. Or go to whichever your heart desires.

I'm deleting my account because, once I had signed up for that account (my very first account) I had a scratch demon inside of me I would stay up late on my Ipad doing stuff. (I'm deleting it the day after my 1 year celebration that is around 2 weeks from now) Ok now I know the theme of the next issue I will start making games and stuff.
