NO MORE FILTERBOT!!

The filterbot muted my friend for typing “Smokeyfoot” and it's not fair!! Support #NoMoreFilterBot by joining my rebellion studio! https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/10301701/
Scratchteam I highly suggest you remove or upgrade your current filterbot. It's unbearable!!

EDIT: I made this forum over a year ago, when I was younger. I am more mature now and know that filterbot is very helpful, please stop replying to this forum, thanks

NO MORE FILTERBOT!!

The filterbot is automated, and so we shouldn't expect it to be perfect. In fact, after having joined the Scratch Team, I now realize just how “picky” it is.

While it could use some improvements, I doubt that the Scratch Team would remove it entirely from the website. It's extremely effective against users who make troll accounts to insult other people and their projects.

Furthermore, it's only used for New Scratchers. Once your friend becomes a Scratcher after 2 weeks or so, the filterbot will no longer automatically mute them.

The filterbot is an effective filter against spam and swear words. It's not perfect, but removing it could cause many problems.

Close - but not quite accurate. New Scratchers are far more likely to be muted by the filter than full Scratchers - but a full Scratcher account can still be muted

Hmmm. I'm really not seeing anything in the filter that would likely trigger on that. How sure are you that that was the word that caused the mute? Perhaps you could advise your friend to use the Contact Us button so we can dig into it a bit deeper.

I got muted once and it said: "Hmm… the filterbot is pretty sure that your recent comments were not ok for Scratch, so your account is muted for the rest of the day. :/
I am a new Scratcher, and what? ”:/“ I think that is just unprofessional, like ”:/“ is supposed to be something like,”>:/“ and that sounds more ”professional“ and the filterbot is called a ”censor, bad word detector, and FILTERBOT!"
The filterbot has eaten my comments.

Filterbot is extremely helpful with getting rid of spam. It has a few hiccups but that's not a good reason to remove it.

If it was gone, there would be no way to stop anyone from spamming swear words on everyone's projects, profiles, and studios

keep in mind that the filterbot is stricter on new scratchers. when you become a scratcher, you won't get muted nearly as much.

I think that maybe the scratch team could address what the filterbot does, how long you will be muted for, and what to do if you were muted unfairly. I think that people get more worked up when they need to, and maybe you should also show this to new scratchers so they know

The filterbot is what upholds the foundation of scratch moderation and keeps the site from from chaos. No support, as bad things could happen if it wasn't there.

no support, imagine if i could say f*** on scratch! That would be bad, toxicness would be everywhere, I'm a little surprised this hasn't been rejected.

The filter is EXTREMELY harsh on new accounts. Someone got 5 accounts deleted forever for writing an application form for a studio.

Hey folks, I do realize that the filter can be frustrating, especially if it removes your comments when nothing was wrong. Keep in mind that it's not perfect, and we're always trying to tune it to help it catch as much as possible without making Scratchers' lives difficult. If you ever run into the filter blocking certain words or phrases incorrectly, please report that here. Thanks!
