they do have rules. they're called southern kids with shovels.
What?
I agree. Southern kids with shovels doesn't seem like a rule.
Definitely not a rule.
Not having net neutrality would not mean no rules.
Yes it does. Net Neutrality are their rules.
There are plenty of other laws regarding the internet. It's not the wild west.
None of them are strong protections for consumers from abusive ISPs.
No Net Neutrality is

because without it the biggest protection for consumers is gone.
Does the internet have laws?

I quite disagree.
Net Neutrality may be big in July, or who knows what.

There a many laws regarding the use of information and privacy online. If the US govt stopped regulating where certain ISPS could operate, there would be no drawbacks to repealing net neutrality.

Jromagnoli, what makes you against net neutrality? What is wrong with it? I think that it is positive for the internet. I don't like the idea of ISPs being able to control my internet.

They still can't. There are numerous other regulations that stand intact. Also, the removal of NN could be good as the ISP can actually throttle things that are potentially harmful.

progressives aren't really progressives though, so…

I mean, all their socialist policies don't further what's a tried and true recipe for rapid progress - capitalism.

it would cause a LOT of drawbacks, ISP's would LOVE to rack in as much money as possible, if net neutrality gets repealed ISP's will have the freedom to charge small business's, bloggers, organizations (profit AND nonprofit), big companies, etc. for no reason. and where do those being charged get their money from? US!

no, the thread isn't completely gone yet, and net neutrality still matters.
pretend net neutrality is an orange and the senate is a person holding it over the edge of a skyscraper.
at the election, senate could either drop the orange, in which the orange would fall for some time then SPLAT its irreparable.
or senate could keep holding on, and save that marvelous orange.
ISP's could be stuck in the elevator while we try to stop the repairman (ajit pai) from letting them up to grab the orange and throw it
(i know it's an awful simile)
