Introducing FileFilter, a website where you upload your files for other people to use…
How do I get started?

It's great that you have an idea.
To execute it really depends on your programming knowledge.
Do you know HTML? CSS? JavaScript? PHP? MySQL? All these will be very helpful if not essential to the creation of this project.
If you want to build it from scratch that is…
Anyway, if you don't know these languages: codecademy.com will help you with pretty much all of them.
I can give you a bit more help too. Just ask.

What will be the difference from other file sharing websites? Will there be encryption? How will you handle copyright violations? How will the site be financed/make profit?
You are going to need to learn some server- and client-side scripting languages - JavaScript and PHP are a good place to start. As previously mentioned, codecademy is a good resource.

Well, umm…
Like to get the domain and webhost to put the code online I'd reccomend 000webhost.com and namecheap.com.
You'd put the code in 000webhost.com to host it and point the domain towards it.
But are you asking how to make the site or how put it online with a link?

000webhost.com is a free webhost.

I paid for the domain: bithexagon.com and linked it too 000webhost very simply. The domain name cost like 10$ a year and hosting was free.
So just buy a domain somewhere and point it to your 000webhost site. There is a fair amount of documentation on the process online if you are willing to look for it. I recommend as a first step signing up for a 000webhost account.

000webhost provides a free one like: something.comule.com or something.site40.net and you get to pick the “something”. Thats what I used for my first few sites.

Alternatly, you could get a free dot.tk one.
