Why is the ST so strongly opposed to sharing discord info?
Idk. I am no in variety about websites to chat. Anyways, my “variety” doesn't even have any chatting websites
So I don't know why, maybe because there's Non Kid-friendly posts?
Idk, Good talking, Nice meeting you.

I guess if something bad happens on Discord to a Scratcher, and the Scratcher contacts the ST, it will create more work for them, which is understandable.

After all, Discord is pretty much a chat room.
I'm gonna get some backlash for this I just know it

According to the community guidelines in the keep personal info private, it says
For safety reasons, don't give out any information that could be used for private communication - such as real last names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, links to social media sites or websites with unmoderated chat. They don't allow it since you might share personal information and there might be non scratch friendly content in discord.

Discord is unmoderated…at least mostly.
Some discord servers are big and have a large moderating staff. I dont know if scratch allows even those, though.

I emailed the ST and asked if i was allowed to share discord info. This was their response:
“Linking to anything that leads to discord is not okay. Sharing this will cause your account to become blocked so it is important you don't.”
Why do they seem so strongly opposed to discord? It's not a bad website or anything.
I can relate a LOT to this. Me and my friends got so many alerts just for saying the word ‘discord’

Even if your discord has a moderator a little kid could go searching for more.

Why is the ST so strongly opposed to sharing discord info?
It has to do with the fact that it's an “unmoderated” chat, meaning pretty much anything can happen. The chats are sometimes abused against their purpose and that can stir up some drama.I'd say it's anything that encourages other Scratchers to search for and/or potentially use such a chat.
And even if certain channels are actually moderated, they won't allow that either since it doesn't often go with Scratch's Code of Conduct.
I'm curious as to what counts as sharing discord info, though. I started a conversation about an old Discord channel that was deleted without linking users to channels in any way and got a warning. I'm quite perplexed.

Ah… Interesting. Makes sense.

Wait, so even the simple mention of it counts towards that? Because that's been causing some alerts to get tossed around. It has to do with the fact that it's an “unmoderated” chat, meaning pretty much anything can happen. The chats are sometimes abused against their purpose and that can stir up some drama.I'd say it's anything that encourages other Scratchers to search for and/or potentially use such a chat.

You can't even find inappropriate information on Discord unless you sign up, and at that point, it's your decision. You don't have to make an account

It's perplexing. Mentioning something is not enough to make someone immediately search it up and sign right up for it and look for inappropriate content.
I don't understand the rationale here. I understand linking to a channel and straight-up telling someone they have to join, but a simple mention isn't enough to warrant an alert in my opinion.

Well the ST doesn't like Discord so they disallowed it. And links that lead to Discord is censored
