it's because discord has unmonitored chat.

It's because Discord is unmoderated chat, plus you can see someone else's face (right?)

As discord has no native moderation, it's easy for a young child to get somewhere they shouldn't be(an NSFW server or worst, a grooming server). In addition, you need to be at least 13 to use discord and most Scratchers are under that age. Even if your server has moderation, a Scratcher could go searching for more. And that's just bad. Also, if any of you here are using discord and you're not 13 or over, FYI you're breaking the law. I emailed the ST and asked if i was allowed to share discord info. This was their response:
“Linking to anything that leads to discord is not okay. Sharing this will cause your account to become blocked so it is important you don't.”
Why do they seem so strongly opposed to discord? It's not a bad website or anything.
TL;DR: Too easy to fall into the wrong hands.

Woah, I thought that that was for your safety, not an actual rule! Does it apply for other games/things? (By the way, I don't use discord)Also, if any of you here are using discord and you're not 13 or over, FYI you're breaking the law. I emailed the ST and asked if i was allowed to share discord info. Yes. Because discord collects information on its users, it's strictly illegal for discord or any other site to collect personal information about minors (under 13's). Even if you're over 13, you still need parental permission until your 16-18 I think. It applies to pretty much every over social media site too like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter.. just to name a few. Because of this, any underage accounts are immediately terminated by the company once alerted.Woah, I thought that that was for your safety, not an actual rule! Does it apply for other games/things? I feel like that law is called COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) or something like that.

I'm really sure that hearing other user's voices aren't really a way to find the identity because many people have regular voices and even more than one person can have the same voice.

That really makes me mad, as a Christian, God made us so that we all can't be the same. Yes, some voices can sound a lot like others, but no voice can be the exact same. (Unless you're using some special thing to change your voice.) even more than one person can have the same voice.

What I mean is that one voice might be mistaken for another voice. You're right, we can't all be the same, but we can't all be different, either, per experts. That really makes me mad, as a Christian, God made us so that we all can't be the same. Religion doesn't matter. You can't use a deity to reason in a debate, unless it's religious itself. That really makes me mad, as a Christian, God made us so that we all can't be the same. What you haven't got a warning for this I got a warning just for asking someone if they were on Discord. They responded no, and I said, “Ok, now worries.” and the was the end of the conversation but I still got a warning later that ignored the end of the conversation and told me it looked like I was trying to talk them into meeting me there.
The community guidelines specifically state “no linking”, it doesn't say not to mention sites. Yet when you get a warning, that is the information you will be referred to. Confusing, to say the least. If we can only mention certain sites then give us a list of those sites, please.
In the meantime , I suggest just not mentioning other sites here at Scratch. Since my warning, I even quit recommending the Scratch Wiki and removed it from my forum signature because it mentions sites liked Discord. Obviously a terrible solution but I don't want to get other Scratchers in trouble.

Keep personal info private
For safety reasons, don't give out any information that could be used for private communication - such as real last names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, links to social media sites or websites with unmoderated chat.

Discord is especially frowned on because it is specifically made to be a customizable, private chatroom, and the Scratch team is historically against sharing these websites because parents of young scratchers rely on Scratch to keep the content their child sees moderated. Discord servers very often have nsfw specific threads, voice threads, etc and as such its an obvious thing to moderate before it gets out of their jurisdiction.
