In Scratch 1.4, there were (was):
-a lot of fonts
-more sprites
-sprites with scripts
-auto-set costume centre
In Scratch 2.0, these stuff were taken away. Why?? They are so useful! Why take them away??

I think the fonts were taken away because they take up a lot of storage space and could lag the editor.

The sprites were probably taken away simply no one got around to adding them to the library, or maybe they have limited space in the library.

I don't know why sprites with scripts were taken away - maybe the sprite library wasn't set up to handle it, or maybe it was replaced with the tips menu on the side or example projects or something.

I don't know why auto-set costume center was taken away, and really, the bitmap editor isn't as good as the 1.4 editor. Maybe there was more of a focus on vector? Anyways I would like to see this feature too.

I think the most impactive one was the auto-set costume center costume editor function, and I would really like that back. The others are just some other examples. I see your point.
I think one of the reasons that the sprites with scripts were taken away, and I'm just taking a guess, is that maybe it was too complicated or the Scratch Team wanted New Scratchers to learn for themselves, even though it would probably teach them more and give them a good example of what scripts would look like. I'm only giving my opinion about this withdrawn “thing” because your thoughts about it doesn't really seem right (no offense) (and also it's because I can't edit my posts (yet) and I want to say what I just said about the scripts with sprites). I don't think the sprite library isn't “set up to handle it”, considering that it worked completely fine in the offline Scratch 1.4.

I think the fonts were removed because they were specific to the creator's computer, and might not be found on the remixers' computers. For example, let's say that there's a project made with all of the text written in the Obscure Sans font. The font is rarely found, and it was a big stroke of luck that it was on the creator's computer. Somebody without the Obscure Sans font on their computer remixes the project, and changes some of the text. Because they do not have Obscure Sans installed, the font reverts to Helvetica, leaving the remixer angry.

I know the fonts are computer-specific because I have Scratch on my Mac and have lots of fonts. At the library they have windoze computers and many fonts are missing and there are some new ones that I don't have on the Mac. I don't care about the other stuff, except… The costume center bugs me. I think it might be worth my time to do bitmap in Scratch 1.4

If you just want to talk about fonts, go here.
You're not going to consider the other withdrawals?
(But ok, I get what you mean with the fonts.)
