I actually think if someone edits a mean comment it is a good thing. They have realized that they are mean or have been too harsh and are changing it. Support. Also sometimes I want to rewrite something but I have already said it. What about a feature where you could delete your comments? I think it would be useful. If I haven't said anyhting yet this^

I actually support. We can edit posts, and even if they get reported and you edit them, you still get in trouble because the Scratch Team uses their magic to find out what it said before it was edited. I think it would be useful, if you made a mistake. I don't think there should be a time limit of when you can edit it, because you don't have that in the forums. I think that if you edit a comment, it would show that Last edited by username (Month day, year hour:minute:second) thing.

I support, but everyone* should be able to view a comment's edit history to prevent cases like the ones described above.
If everyone can view a comment's edit history with a single click, people would realise they can still be reported for posting and editing mean comments.
And, I make so many typos, I need this feature xP
* if only the ST could see it, more mean comments would be posted and edited out, because it would be less obvious to Scratchers that edits are also moderated.
Also, maybe this could be another Scratcher-only feature?

What if someone wrote this? That's already possible on the forums. Same with editing your profile and your projects. If people could do that with comments, what stops them from doing the same with their profile, their projects, and their posts? This project is horrible! It could improve by….…and then found that he was going to be reported. So then he edits the comment. It could improve by…..…and gets away with posting a mean comment.
I'm sorry, but I don't support because of what could potentially happen (like the situation above).
Support.

i'm surpportingSo let's see what we have here:You're right, and I'm supporting this apart from the deleting.
-Some supporters?
-Limit of time when you can still edit it
-Keep a history of the (edited) comment
-Deleting own comments?
-Some people posting after this has been left alone for more than two weeks…
Am I right?

Well either way, over the course of these two years, I think the answer to this has probably been made clear - its not going to be added. Here's why:
Comments simply aren't designed as longer thoughts that might need to be edited over time, like forum posts, so the actual need for editing seems to be limited to fixing mistakes and abusing the system. You're limited in space as it is, so adding thoughts via another comment is common as it is - and this reflects what comments are intended to be. If you really are concerned about typos, try reviewing your comment before posting.

The owner of the project should be notified if someone edits their comment on their project, but still be notified when and what the original comment was posted and said. That way, he can still show the evidence (e.g. Snipping Tool) in a post (using one of those websites where you just upload pictures, in which I use photobucket).
No?

Apple equivalent is command+shift+4, I think. The owner of the project should be notified if someone edits their comment on their project, but still be notified when and what the original comment was posted and said. I don't see why people are bashing this idea so much. You can edit posts, projects, other stuff. Why not comments?^^
It could be pretty useful, for fixing typos, or if you press send too early, or if you realize that something came out wrong. If we need, there could be history, and a limit to how much time you have to edit it.

Well, joshuaho is right. Somebody could post a mean comment and edit it, so i don't support.
Also it could be used for trolling:HAI YER A BAD PRIGRAMMER, I IS BETTER THAN U
Then edit it so he will not be reported.HAI I DIDNT TYPE ANYTHING BAD HERE
So I don't support.
Same thing could happen on the forums.

Support.

What if someone wrote this?Right, this is why we don't have edit and delete functions. And adding in edit history so that all revisions of a post are available to the moderators would be a big change requiring a lot of time and effort that we would rather spend on other parts of the site. This project is horrible! It could improve by….…and then found that he was going to be reported. So then he edits the comment. It could improve by…..…and gets away with posting a mean comment.

So it's a good idea - but we probably aren't going to do it because it's too much work for too little return. Thanks for the suggestion, though
