Then go get some printer paper, and fold it in half 9 times.

If you fold a piece of paper 42 times, it would reach from the Earth to the Moon. :O

I made my profile picture in 2011 when I was 12 and it is by far my greatest artistic achievement.

I've done 7

Also, if you fold a piece of paper in half 60 something times it becomes the size of an atom, I believe

I've been listening to…
Ogre Battle // Queen // Queen II // Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Progressive Metal
Orion // Metallica // Master of Puppets // Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Instrumental
Damage Inc. // Metallica// Master of Puppets // Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal
Snow (Hey Oh) // Red Hot Chilli Peppers // Snow (Hey Oh) // Soft Rock, Acoustic
Who Wants To Live Forever // Queen // A Kind of Magic // Power Ballad, Soft Rock
I suggest you listen to…
For a influential playlist: Damage Inc and Orion. Both of these songs are part of the album that revolutionized heavy and thrash metal forever.

….that doesn't answer the concern, though. The US uses 8.5“x11”, whereas most other countries use A4, which is 8.3“x11.7”

Bingo. It was kinda trippy to learn that the US doesn't use A4. It's something I have to be aware of any time I do desktop publishing work - lots of programs default to American sizing!

Interesting. I just looked up foolscap and from what I can tell it was phased out in 1959 in the UK. I remember teachers sometimes referring to paper as “foolscap” and I was never sure why.

Apparently A4 isn't used by the USA or Canada:
Today the standard has been adopted by all countries in the world except the United States and Canada. In Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and the Philippines the US letter format is still in common use, despite their official adoption of the ISO standard.

I'll take “fairly boring trivia” for ten points, please.

It's referring to the thickness of the paper. For example, It's .001 cm. Fold it. .002 cm.

Ah.

Is it a coincidence that it's 42 times ^^ I THINK NOT.

I believe a robot once folded it like 15 times, until it couldn't do it anymore and gave up.

The Challenge!!!!!

Interesting topic, but I don't think a folding paper challenge relates to making or creating something. Please follow the “Making and Creating” guidelines.
