Sometimes new scratchers fiddle with the see inside page, I have flagged several projects because of this!

A remix is when an obvious change is made in the scripts, costumes, sounds, etc. Those are what the ST approve of.
A rip-off is when barely anything is changed, and doesn't affect the function of the project. Those are what the ST disapprove of.

Can't get much clearer than this. Now stop with the arguing.

'Cause the ST didn't write that post.
Well then go find a member of the Scratch Team and ask him/her.

Well, I have full support for a project comparer, that sees if the project is a copy. Allow me to explain:

When you make ANY change(except for script comments) like dragging one script block in, or even slightly tweeking a costume, the remix button appears. This makes it so you can create an EXACT copy(though it has the remix tag) of the original project.

So the project comparer won't be a perfect shield against theft. You could slightly edit a costume or two, (not noticably,) throw a few unnecessary script blocks into the stage, etc. to copy a project and not make any TRUE changes, to get around the comparer.

So while a comparer would be good, it's not the perfect solution.

This isn't either, but it would help- when you click the remix button, you get a message that project copying is bad and that if you didn't make any changes or give credit, you may get in trouble. Next, the same thing would happen when you click share- that remixes with things that are changed are good, but outright copying is bad.

So neither of these are perfect solutions, but they would certainly help.

The point is not to stop remixing, it's to try to get Scratchers better informed so they make less copies and more good remixes where things are changed. Most of the problems(as far as I can see) crop up because of ignorance.

I wholly side with the ST on this one- remixes are good, but only so far as a major change has been made.

Idea:

When a person makes an account:

It would show a message saying "Welcome to your account! Please keep these in mind: -By sharing a project, you are actually sharing a project to the scratch community. In that case, please make your projects so they do something. (in a nicer way, I coudn't think of anything) -Remixing is making a modified version of another's project. Please give credit while remixing.

Duplicating projects is not allowed, but to be an allowed project it needs to have something with the scripts completely different.

The last post that was posted was in 2013, so please don't necropost. You can learn more about necroposting here:

@seanbobe and tiger75: Suggestions are always considered relevant, unless they have been either rejected or implemented. Since that applies to this suggestion, its ok to bump it (as long as the post is relevant), regardless of date.

No Support
According to the copyleft (yes, I mean copyleft) on a project, as long as you attribute and share it under the same license, you can share in any way you want, even if nothing was changed. See here. Of course, I might be wrong, in which case tell me. If scratch had a different licence, then I would give support, as it is very annoying.
EDIT: Semi-Support - See below

Correct, that license is there, BUT the Scratch Team does disapprove of these projects. I actually found someone who had so many copies without credit, and wouldn't give credit. So I reported them and a lot got taken down. Also, support as per Failord.

I agree, they need to write something like Made by @someone. I giv semi-support. Instead of blocking them, just add made by — in the credits and make in unremovable until they change something.

Or if you use the save as copy method it saves the original maker as if it was a remix, so there is a decrease in copied projects.
