A Reflective Personality *2 votes
A guy buys a mirror and discovers that it is in a way a sentient being. It collects the images it reflects and stores them in it's memory to progressively get an image of reality, and a personality. And that it will one day become a full out physical being. He intends to make this “mirror man” into a servant of sorts. But after speaking to it, finds out that it has already been impacted by it's previous (barbaric) owners. The new owner desperately attempts to change it's reflection on life for the better, but one day, the mirror takes it's own toll in the situation. And it all ends brutally.


The Speaking Sword *2 vote
A shogun receives a sword that was a gift from his Samurai. To his surprise, the sword actually could talk. But to him only. He would have it with him and as it spoke no one else nearby would hear it. Eventually the sword saves his life from an assassin (or a Ninja).


It Feasts on Your Fears… Yell! *3 votes
A detective is assigned to investigate the series of disappearances of people in the city of Harkwood (I'll possibly change it to Atlanta). After getting nothing, he begins to have nightmares about surreal and distinct rituals. The most common image in the nightmares being a man dressed in all black wearing a demon mask to hide his face. He in a way was the ringleader of the strange sights.

They Came by Boat *1 vote
A group of scientists go to Haiti by boat to test a new drug that's meant to reincarnate soldiers that died in war. But after a strange defect occurred, the men who were reincarnated began to bite chunks off of anyone nearby. And thus, spread the defected chemical. Near the end, the scientists find out to their horror that the boat vanished. And it turns out that the “zombies” found their way to the boat and went to New York. Leading up to what could possibly be the start of a new plague.

The reason why it takes place in Haiti is because the original myth of the zombie began there.

If a Priest Dies in the Woods and No One is Around to Hear Him, Will He Make a Sound? *1
A man who used to live in the small city Hernwhich recounts on the last few days he spent there. A story spread around the city generation by generation about the suicide of an unknown priest that supposedly caused a gate that lead directly to hell open. But the main character always questioned the reliability of the story because of the fact that the priest's own body was never discovered, and that he was never even named. In the end he discovers that the priest never existed and that everyone in the city actually was beginning to become a group of paranoid psychos.

It's now a tie between “A Reflective Personality” and “It Feasts on Your Fears”, which story would rise as victorious?

Is it just me, or does the main antagonist from “It Feasts on Your Fears” resemble Slenderman???

It's just you. The two characters have nothing to do with each other.

Slenderman just walks around and starts static.

The main villain from It Feasts on Your Fears leads a small cult, has a pet panther, wears a mask and cape, has a face, practices black magic, could start illusions and curses, and uses an electric whip that can resurrect the dead. (Spoilers, he is a vengeful winter sprite)

The only similarity is that they both wears suits.

It's not called “walking”, it's called “Slender-walk”. Basically, the idea of the theory is, that Slenderman teleports (or runs very, very fast) to places. You can search it on Google if your interested…

Thanks, I'll read the story tomorrow. We have some of Borges' books, but I haven't read them yet. I know he's a great writer.

I just finished reading it.
Wouldn't it kill the main feeling of the story if there is a written version of it? If Borges didn't write it, why should I?
I did notice a bit of a similarity between the “dead” priest from If a Priest Dies in the Woods and Al-Mu'tasim himself, if that's where you're going.
