[FUND ME] [SCIENCE] The Bismuth Powered Engine
Hey guys,
As a science project for school I am creating a Bismuth powered engine with my friend.
Trouble is, we need funding!
If you think you can help us by donating and spreading the word to the world, feel free to!
The link to the fundraiser will be published soon, which will contain concept models and images. It will also contain more info.
So yeah, Science geeks, get ready.

Details, please.
How will you use bismuth to power something? It's a heavy metal, technically, but it's not poisonous or radioactive (
).
EDIT: NOTE TO SELF: Stop reading the OP while posting xD

We are ready to roll! Our Indiegogo
@Firedrake969 the engine works via a modified Combustion engine where the bismuth is processed with a series of gasses including oxygen and carbon dioxide. This creates energy that can be harnessed to power a car.
You guys have 47 days to help us out. Go for it!

More details? It seems too ambiguous right now. You say it's “processed”, but how does that create energy? What isotope of bismuth will it be? what reactions will occur? What will the products be?

Under high pressure with the gases, using a funnel design we can use the pressure to drive a motor or other forms of equipment that require energy. The current isotype we plan on using is 209Bi. When Bismuth comes into contact with Carbon Dioxide, it produces Carbon Monoxide. When mixed with oxygen, the carbon monoxide turns back into Carbon Dioxide in a more concentrated form. Thanks to the pressure of the Oxygen, it can successfully drive our funnel system.
Please explain what you mean by products.

Do you…do you need 10,000 for a school project?
Is there even proof this works?

10k is a lot for a school project
@honesty probably not due to them trying it out first…
It seems at first glance to be a perpetual energy thing. When reading again, I noticed you'll need a supply of Bi209 and O2.
Products as in reactants and products in chemistry–such as one product of baking soda and vinegar is CO2.

If this is perpetual energy, it's not gonna work. Periodfullstop.

Wait….. You can't compress something just by “reacting” it, then “unreacting” it. (I'm tired ok, sorry)More details? It seems too ambiguous right now. You say it's “processed”, but how does that create energy? What isotope of bismuth will it be? what reactions will occur? What will the products be?

Please explain more?

So you're basically using bismuth as a catalyst to form carbon monoxide from carbon dioxide?

You still need the oxygen and co2 as fuel right?

Well, I hate to stand in the way of progress - and the world could certainly use a better automotive power source - but I have not been able to find a single paper that describes how you get energy out of bismuth. Can you point us towards a published research paper or other reputable source?
Regardless of the viability of your proposal - please remember that this website is an educational site for learning and sharing the Scratch programming language - it's not for fundraising. However, it's cool that you are learning about crowdsourcing and showing entrepreneurial initiative so we've decided to leave your fundraising link up - with the understanding that Scratchers realize that there is no guarantee that the funds donated will be used as promised - in other words, it's “Buyer Beware” and if they don't feel comfortable with the proposal, they should not donate.
