What is Necroposting?
What is Necroposting and Necrobumping? The name sounds dark…
By the way, why is it so disliked, or even hated?

What is Necroposting?
It's in the Forum Dictionary topic (which is a ITopic) and here's what it says:
(unless you repeatedly do it, and then it isn't fun)
NercopostAnd it's sorta dark, but on the bright side, no alerts if you do it!
If the last time a topic is posted on is very old, it should not be posted on, and therefore brought back to the top of the topic list, unless you have very relevant information to post about. Necroposting is allowed in some situations. You can find more information about Necroposts on this topic.

What is Necroposting?
Basically necrobumping is when someone bumps up an old thread that isn't relevant any more. We've had cases where some random user has posted on a no longer relevant topic from early 2013, bumping it to the top of the forum list.
It's actually quite a big problem as people, especially new scratchers, don't realise the harm they are doing.
And since topics aren't automatically locked after a certain period of activity, there's nothing stopping them from doing this.
I could do this right now actually. All I got to do is go to the last page of a forum section and post on one of the topics there. It's really easy to do.

What is Necroposting?
A month for me, for other people it might be longer. What is the period of time for a reply so that it is considered necroposting?
(but it's generally 1 month)

What is Necroposting?
If it's relevant to the topic and it hasn't been resolved, then as long as the user is still active, it should be fine.A month for me, for other people it might be longer. What is the period of time for a reply so that it is considered necroposting?

What is Necroposting?
I think about 4-6 months would not be necroposting, but longer than that, maybe. I used to be new and not know what it was, but now I do so I try not to do it.. A lot of people probably do the one month thing, but I don't.If it's relevant to the topic and it hasn't been resolved, then as long as the user is still active, it should be fine.A month for me, for other people it might be longer. AFAIK it's probably one month as other forum users say. I think about 4-6 months would not be necroposting, but longer than that, maybe. I used to be new and not know what it was, but now I do so I try not to do it.. A lot of people probably do the one month thing, but I don't.
4-6 months seem to stretch the limit a lot since 6 months is half a year
(Also, you nercoposted The OP of this topic is probably no longer watching it, as their profile page is deleted now)

What is Necroposting?
Even a week is necroposting if the topic question has already been answered and you have nothing to add but something like: Cool answer! or Thanks! I can use this!
The reason it is so bad is because people reading the forum are sidetracked into reading topics they already read a week or a month before. Big waste of time!
