I wrote a poem.

What happened to this world?
What happened to turning the other cheek?

We were put on the world to be allies, not foes.
So what happened to this world?

Nobody knows.

Fear

Don't know,
Don't care.
I'm just running,
Out of fear.
I'm in the now,
I'm in the here,
They're everywhere.
Red eyes,
Watching me,
Judging me,
Looking at me.
What have I done for this?

And why?

I agree. I like how it uses close rhymes instead of being exact, and that it isn't too wordy.

I see no slant rhymes in that at all.

care/fear/here/everywhere, me/me/me

Oh, I guess fear maybe, but I pronounced that more like fair because it makes it easier to read and keep rhythm

I have written a 70 page sci-fi novella (novellette?), a long sequel to the previously mentioned novella, a growing collection of short horror stories, and many poems that I have since lost.

so I looked through a few poems and the most presentable is this:

I love rocks. yes,
that sounds weird, I
know. but I love
them anyway. my favorite
is gneiss. there are
so many different types
of gneiss, it’s as
if they were different
Rocks… but they are
Not. They are all
Part of a larger
Conglomerate, a
Federation. I have a
Rock collection in my
Backyard. One time, there
Was a big storm?
A nor’easter, and the
Rocks got thrown into
the wall of the shed.
But I got them back,
And I put them in
My room for safekeeping.

Poems don't have to rhyme.
Uh yeah, but seeing how that one does a few times, and the quote was about the slant (“close”) rhymes, it's irrelevant that they don't need to.

Whenever I write any kind of novel (usually for literature) it always follows the same three-phase process:

Phase 1: Wow! This is going to be a New York Times Bestseller!
Phase 2: Hmm…what should happen next?…
Phase 3: You know, this actually kind of stinks…

I always end up at phase three.

I wrote a poem this summer…
It's a long story, but basically, my sister's friend was being a goof and started twerking in the kitchen. I wrote this and hung it up on my sister's door because I knew her friend would see it.

Dear friend of my sister,
Such a whimsical mister;
I have but a mild complaint:

To preserve my dignity
(Though said not in enmity),
I ask that you show some restraint.

Your bum had found solace
In a manner most lawless:
Raised up so high in the air;

Pray, what had inspired you,
What gave you desire to
Crudely hoist up your derrière?

'Twas not bootylicious
(In fact, quite capricious),
And most certainly an obnoxious quirk;

So to dam the unsightly,
I must ask you (politely):
For the sake of the children, don't twerk.

I like that last line.

I think it's pretty cool how well you guys can write poetry. I can write stories well, but for whatever reason, I'm terrible and uninspired whenever it comes to poetry, hence why I never write poems.
