I have actually seriously considered founding a micronation before. Islands can at least be bought cheaply but declaring independence would be difficult without significant preparation.

No, I'm talking about for fun..
But I guess you could be the ruler of an island.

It would be for fun, in a way. I generally do things to make myself happy, but I'm an adult and so get to take things further!

Maybe they're rich

Cheaply in relation to the cost of houses in the UK. If one bought a house here and climbed the property ladder even a little it wouldn't be unfeasible to buy an island after a few years.
