1001 things to make a programmer facepalm

When someone writes code that basically goes like this.
If x = 1, set y to 2
If x = 2, set y to 4
If x = 3, set y to 6
If x = 4, set y to 8
If x = 5, set y to 10
If x = 6, set y to 12
If x = 7, set y to 14
If x = 8, set y to 16
...
Can't they just set y = 2x?
Aaahh…. That annoys me so much, especially since that used to be me

I'm in grade 7 and most people still don't know how to save in Word 2007, but they can jailbreak an iPhone. -_-
I'm in grade 5 and most people can't save in any program, and lose all their data, and don't even know what jailbreak is. Now excuse me while I say goodbye to my faith in humanity, it's going on a lifetime vacation to another universe.

I only check in to Scratch from time to time to see what others have been up to. I don't really post anything anymore. I'll occasionally post a question in the AT forum if I can't find an answer anywhere else.

When people type:
@echo off
echo hi
and then wonder why their program closes instantly when opened.

So how would you include jquery on your site?
Easy!
$('<script>').attr("src", "https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.3/jquery.min.js").appendTo($("head"));

$(".box-head")[0].textContent = "committing AT crimes since $whenever"

“LAAAAGGGGG pls fix”

I should clarify that this would be said on a Scratch project in which a) requires intense calculating, b) the user has a poop-quality computer

As a long time Scratcher, I have found new meaning to the name “Scratch”: for me, it means to “scratch that itch”, to come back again and again to realize new ideas in this toy language, even when I'm capable of creating my projects in real programming languages years later. It's a friend that helped me to pursue programming and get me to enjoy its fruit. I'm certain many others who have walked this path as well have grown fond of its importance in their life.

c) Uses Internet Explorer
d) Windows Vista (srsly tho, anyone who still uses that will get PUNCHED IN THE FACE)
e) Literally like over a million scripts

When I wrote my first code in Python yesterday:
x = input("Value for x?: ")
y = input("Value for y?: ")
z = input("Value for z?: ")
realvar = (huge equation involving x, y, and z)
print ('realvar is', + realvar)
And freaked out and was very confused about why it would not work.

Why didn't it?

Needed to be x = int(input(“Value for x?: ”)) etc. It thought the input was a string.
