ITopic - What is or isn't ok to share on Scratch?

Hewwo! I'm making a 8-bit horror game. Because it's 8-bit, It's not THAT scary! However the game has some death. You don't see the people dying, but you hear can hear a cartoon snapping sound at times. I know the game will be a NFE but I really want to know if the game CAN actually be on the scratch website even though its a NFE. I'd be really sad if I can't post it. Please reply and dun break mah hart. ;n;

How mature can a project be for it not to be flagged? Because im making a project that has a dark atmosphere (everythings really grey and dark) and a sort of dark storyline. I also wanted some levels to be kinda scary (like navigating through a dark sewer).
Well, that's often hard to determine - the website is open to all different kinds of users having different ages and different upbringings, some have a higher tolerance of a scare level, others do not. And even the Scratch Team has some disagreements on what is and isn't okay for the site.

It sounds like you're afraid that a project flag will get you in trouble, but that is not always the case. Flagging a project doesn't mean the project won't get automatically censored - it's really up to administrator taking care of flags on that day to make the call on whether a project should be removed from the site.

When the Scratch Team receives a flag report, they may give it one of three ratings. To give a quick rundown :
- FE (For Everyone): projects that are viewable for all ages
- NFE (Not For Everyone): projects that contain content that OK in the cultural context of the US media, but one that the Scratch Team would rather not emphasize. Note that projects like this cannot make it to the front page).
- Censored: projects that contain mature content

It sounds like your storyline might fall into the NFE area, though it's hard to tell without actually seeing the project content itself. If the ultimate goal is to never receive a project flag, you're probably thinking in the wrong direction - more often than not, if a project contains some kind of questionable content, someone will likely take notice and flag the project to alert the Scratch Team that the project needs to be reviewed.

HI i'm making an animated series about narwhals similar to warrior cats in format but very different, I think it would fall into the NFE because of some scenes of fights (not very graphic, in a way it will be like sword fighting with a horn) just minor blood and serious scenes ( talking, expressing emotions, etc) nothing too bad, nothing romantic (the inappropriate kind of romantic) its allot like warriors.Got an opinion?

Crediting is not required, but is highly recommended.

Actually, credit is required. You have to give credit when remixing - that is covered in the Community Guidelines and the Scratch Rules.

That would kind of be NFE (Not for everyone)
Options:

Don't share it
Make an NFE studio

I don't think that it would be marked as NFE - projects with a little bit of blood would have been marked as NFE, but since the project being described here does not have any blood… it should be ok.

So I read that this is one of the rules…
* Keep personal info private. For safety reasons, don't use real names or post contact info like phone numbers or addresses.

I understand this, and how it's a good rule to follow. However, I have, lately, been receiving alert messages from the ST about asking for/providing personal information. I've not been giving any real names or contact information-The most I do is tell one of my friends (Online and in real life) that I've emailed her when it's important, since she doesn't always check her email and I'm trying to avoid putting anything that has to do with personal contacting on scratch.
The other day, I received an alert after telling her that I'd sent an email with my other main email account, so that she would know it was me and not a spammer. I didn't post online what the email address is, just that I had sent her an email with it.
I attempted to contact the scratch team four days ago, but I have not received any response asides from the automatic one stating that my message was received, and so I decided to post on this forum instead.
I'm trying to avoid getting banned at all costs, and so I'd love it if you could tell me what I should do differently in the future to follow the guidelines.

It's like reporting. ^^
To flag a project, you need to pull up the project-under the project window, there are five buttons. Listed from left to right, they are:
-Favorite (The star)
-Love-it (The heart)
-Studios (What studios/galleries the project is in)
-Embed (Share to other sites/download code if made in 1.4)
-Report This (This is the button you're looking for. It asks for the reason that you flagged the project.)

Type in why you found the project inappropriate, and hit send-It'll be counted as a report/flagged project.

Hope I helped!

i think, if you share a project,it should not be rude. if it is, it breaks the scratch community guidelines!

Hello there! I saw in the first post it said “give credit when you remix”. I saw a REALLY COOL project and decided to make one of my own, and when I went back to find the first project and give the creator some credit, I couldn't find it anywhere so I couldn't give credit. Is this okay?

Can I report someone for not giving credit to the original project in a remix?

-DemCupcakesYo

If you support, it should be +1. If you don't, it should be +0, not -1. If you half-support, it should be +1/2 or +0.5, not +0. You can't subtract from the supporters.

First, ask the scratcher. :') It's possible that they forgot to give credit, and it's best to look at things calmly.

Some $cratchers share projects with blood, but it says “Blood Warning” or “Please don't see if you do not like blood”

when green flag clicked
say [Help me!] for (2) secs
if <(answer) = [I will]> then
say [Thanks!] for (2) secs
end

A warning beforehand would be good. I've heard a rule that if an 8-year old should not see it, then it shouldn't be on the website.

Recommend not to… what? Ask the scratcher, or report the person?

Hello. I have been wondering whether or not my game, hiragana shootout (tag hiragana_shootout), is acceptable. I taken measures to ensure it is as widely viewable as possible, but I am unable to remove the bullet aspect of it, because of the game's central features. Any advice would be appreciated.
