Wearable Technology
Wearable technology is technology that you can wear on your body such as watches, Google glass and electronic shirts.
I'm excited for a possible Apple or Google watch. If they both came out with watches, I would probably be torn on which one to go with. I'm enthusiastic about Google Glass but at the same time I don't think it will catch on at this point because consumers are too afraid and they need things to be introduced slowly.
What do you think of Google Glass?
What do you think of a Google/Apple watch? Do you like the Samsung Gear?
What are your thoughts on this type of technology on general? Are you scared or do you embrace it?

I want a google watch. I have no idea what it would do (besides being a smart watch), but google is awesome, and I need a watch. That is my opinion. My birthday is soon

I'm thankful to Samsung for getting the whole watch thing going. However, I would certainly not buy the Gear because of it's price, design and lack of features.

I read a review of the Gear in a newspaper, and reviewer thought it stunk, other than getting the ball rolling for smart watches. He said that they obviously rushed it into sales as soon as they could, and didn't really finish it. Apparently the voice recognition is junk.

Yeah I agree that it was good for it to start at some point. I read a review of the Gear in a newspaper, and reviewer thought it stunk, other than getting the ball rolling for smart watches.
I wish I could play with it in real life (that's really how it should be viewed before developing an opinion) but unfortunately that's not possible.

I remember a while ago, when I was eight or something, I watched or read something about wearable technology ideas from the eighties, with brilliant ideas like:
- computer/fanny pack
- glove that let you type by wiggling your fingers into the right places
- incredibly cool, 80's computer sunglasses
I guess the last one wasn't so awful (aside from the fact that it came true)
also, I found the video. there are actually two, and they're both pretty great (and also from the nineties, so I was a little off)

It's funny to look at old movies and videos and see what they thought the future would be like. Most everyone's predictions of the future are very closely tied to what their present was/is. The key is to let your thoughts wander and don't start with the current products, to start by thinking of the problem/basic product concept. I always have a good laugh at Back To the Future movie's image of the future; the same basic styles and electronics but with futuristic details and additions.

also: this 1930s video on fashions of the future includes an electric belt that adapts the body to climate changes (like hot/cold, not like pollution and stuff) and an electric headlight, to help all the ladies out there find an honest man. to be honest a lot of this stuff is actually pretty cool and would probably work today, at least in an avant garde, haute couture kind of way.
men get off a lot worse, they just have jumpsuits with telephones on the chests and a bunch of pouches to store “coins, keys, and candies for cuties”.

No to Google Glass. That lets them just know too much.
Perhaps in Internet-enabled watch though, if it was affordable, and really useful.

Actually, Samsung would be the first to make an iWatch, since Apple isn't so fired up about it.

I recall seeing an add for the smart watch. It advertized that you could watch TV shows and films on it from what I recall. The thing that was immediately brought to mind was a video of David Lynch ranting about the idea of people watching movies on their phone. Actually, Samsung would be the first to make an iWatch, since Apple isn't so fired up about it.
"Now if your playing the movie on a telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience the film. You'll think you have experienced it, but you'll be cheated. It's such a sadness that you think you've seen a film on your telephone. Get Real."
I would like to see what he has to say about watching films on a watch.

Watches? Not interested. I've not worn a watch since I was a teenager. I have a phone on me at all times, why would I need a watch?
Google Glass and similar sounds interesting though. I'm not sure I like the current implementation but it's at least a novel concept.

But think of the advantages of owning a phone-watch. Watches? Not interested. I've not worn a watch since I was a teenager. I have a phone on me at all times, why would I need a watch?

Google Glass, though I can see why it would be dangerous to have Internet in your eyes, people would be watching cat videos on their glasses while driving.

I personally find watches annoying as they get in the way a lot. Plus I like being able to run a hand down my arm and not feel any watches, etc, there.
Glasses, however, well I already wear those.
