And then there's the problem with people who have sight problems (like me) and already wear glasses (also like me).I would HOPE people would know to take it off when driving. Google Glass, though I can see why it would be dangerous to have Internet in your eyes, people would be watching cat videos on their glasses while driving.

It's one of many reasons I avoid films in 3D at the cinema. Here, have some glasses to go on top of your glasses! YOU'RE ONE TOO?!?! :O

Well, I was planning to wear mine to go rob a grocery store, but your post changed my mind. This stuff is pretty scary IMO, considering that they most likely send all the information to the NSA. So don't do anything illegal while you wear Google glass.

They send everything to NASA.
I don't need the Space Station knowing about my Google searches!

I personally would love for my Google searches to be sent through the ISS. That's just me though. Also in case you're unaware it's not like Google is willingly handing information to the NSA. You should probably know that Google and Microsoft are already trying to get their gag orders lifted so that they can speak out about the entire snowden issue.I first read that as: This stuff is pretty scary IMO, considering that they most likely send all the information to the NSA. Conspiracy theories aside…
I feel that wearable technology needs to work in conjunction with one another. For example, take this setup: A cell phone, smartwatch, and head-mounted device (like Glass). In this scenario, the computing power could be outsourced to the phone. Obviously the phone would have better guts, more battery life, and doesn't put the bulk somewhere in view (as you can see on Google Glass, there is a large battery behind the ear). The phone could push notifications to the smartwatch. Possibly something that runs an OLED display and has a dark theme to save battery while maintaining clarity and color features. Certainly fitness-tracking things like a heart rate monitor, which would feed into an app on the phone.
Also, kill the camera on the Galaxy Gear. It's big, ugly, and inconvenient. That's what the HMD is for. If there is a camera on the glasses, you don't need a bulky camera on the watch that is awkward to aim. Wearing the glasses while driving isn't a concern to me as long as Google plays their cards right. You don't have to take your eyes off the road, the display is clear, and it's really not a device good for “watching cat videos.” On the contrary, Google has some nice tools that would really work well on a HMD, especially in a car. Say Google put an accelerometer in the device, and any time it was going over 30 miles per hour the device was locked of all features other than turn-by-turn navigation, notifications (not like text notifications, but things like Google Calendar events) and weather? Of course when Google drops a self-driving car that will no longer be a concern. The future is now.

I don't know. There are some really dumb people out there. Especially where I live. I like to nickname most of the drivers here (as in where I live) “the cellphone killers” for obvious reasons. They made me never want to drive, because I don't want to meet the reaper just because someone is trying to send a text while driving at a ridiculous speed. I almost at some points believe that I amin the world of Death Race 2000.I would HOPE people would know to take it off when driving. Google Glass, though I can see why it would be dangerous to have Internet in your eyes, people would be watching cat videos on their glasses while driving.

I found instructions for making Google Glass style glasses that are powered by a Raspberry Pi. I think those old iPod Nano watch cases were cool… better than Galaxy Gear which costs way too much

Oh yeah the 6th gen iPod Nano was really neat. I don't personally picture smartwatches being like a standalone smartphone on your hand, but something to handle music, time, weather, and simple stuff that you don't want to pull out a full phone to get. I don't think the iPn was capable of all of those things (but I may be wrong, I never actually owned one) but I think it's a good starting place. I actually got to try out the Samsung Gear in person yesterday. I was surprised by the lack of build quality; the screws and such are quite ugly and they look old, not a good choice on Samsung's part. Although, I was pleasantly surprised by the basic app system (although it could be better). Camera wasn't terrible either. Price and design are biggest cons.
