Variables

There should be a way for us to paint our own variable numbers, like customizing our variables to make it look neater, instead of boring orange. That way, we don't need to use lots of scripts and costumes for colored variables.

Variables

In 1.4, you can change variable colors:
1. Shift+click the “R” in Scratch at the top-left
2. Select “turn fill screen off”
3. Alt+click the variable display on the stage until you get “WatchReadoutFrame”
4. Click on “Menu for Me”
5. Select “change color”
6. Select the color you want
7. Press the little X at the top left corner of the color palette.
8. Then do step 1 again and select “turn fill screen on”

Note: Do not exit Scratch when the screen is not fully filled.

Note2: Hiding the variable will reset it to its normal look.

Note3: You can change the appearance of a variable without resetting the color.

That's not what he wanted. He might have already known that technique.

He wants it to change 1) in 2.0, 2) and save in the project, and 3) without hacking Scratch.

But actually, a good display for a integral variable should only take 10 costumes and 2-3 scripts.

But it'd be really nice if there was a sprite with all the letters, numbers, etc. Maybe someone can make that. Vectorized.

Thanks, kayybee. Yeah, I did not want to change colors by morphing.

That is morphing(programming with squeak). But I did not want that. What I want is that we could paint numbers, so when the variables show up, they show, but their appearance is what you painted.

Yes! A non-hacky way would be awesome.

By the way, even though I fully support, this is a duplicate, and please make your topic title more specific. Based on the name alone, you might have been suggesting anything from a "make variable [ ]" block to removing variables altogether.

I somehow always end on a negative note when replying to you, don't I? Sorry about that!

Thanks for the ride, Scratch Team and community! Unfortunately, the time has come for me to move on from Scratch, so I'll no longer be using the forums. Thanks again, and farewell!
