This would deter kids from Scratch
Changing the logo is identical
Donors would prefer something that is Scratch

Pretty sure it's a cat because they wanted it to be a regular household animal people are very familiar with

Tigers as a regular sprite is fine, but as a mascot that defines the character of the entire website is not good

maybe if it was a seperate costume when you load a project? there would be the scratch cat costume, the scratch cat running costume, the scratch tiger costume, and the the scratch tiger running costume. and to make it look more friendly, it would look like scratch cat but with black stripes
