The vast majority of the site is either in elementary school or middle school. Most of these people don't have those kinds of social medias.

Also linking to that site may reveal personal information which is against a CG

ST doesn't allow linking to most other social media sites due to the possibility of bad people linking them to expose young children to stuff they shouldn't see and to prevent people from having their information leaked.

Well, it is true: you are following them, you are not “connecting” with them. You want to see their projects and what they are doing.

Also, why are you trying to make Scratch corporate? There are much better ways of preparing people for employment and the real world… none of which most people here should be concerned with at their age.

Also, LinkedIn connections work differently than Scratch followers do. On Scratch, you can follow anyone, and anyone can follow you; following is not necessarily a mutual decision. On the other hand, in order to add someone to your list of LinkedIn connections, both of you need to mutually accept the invitation to form a connection. Are you suggesting that Scratch followers should be a more mutual process, or are you only suggesting that the name “Follower” should change to the name “Connection”?

I agree. When I grow up, I want to be a historian, ethnographic artist, and missionary. If scratch suddenly turned corporate and Linkedin-ish, I would feel very unmotivated to be on Scratch.

Scratch is for all ages, and the site has specifically been built to reflect this… the code editor, costume editor, studio pages, home pages, profiles…
Reducing it to a corporate style, even just starting with terms, is not a good look OR choice.
