July 2026 SWC Writing Megathread

Hello and welcome to the official SWC writing thread! This thread is for any SWCers to share writing so we don't all have to make our own writing threads. Additionally, the second post of this thread will be a sort of “masterpost” of rules and info about SWC for campers <3

Please read through the first post of this thread whether or not you have read it before - our rules are changed and edited every session as we work on improving SWC! Yes it's long, but all of this information is important for you to know, because we share the forums with the rest of Scratch! If you have any questions afterwards, please ask me or another host on our profiles - that way it's easier for you to get a response without clogging up this thread <3
What you can put here:
Any writing you do during SWC (whether daily, weekly, word war, writing competition entry or just your own writing) can go in this thread! You can either make a new post per piece of writing, or make one post and edit your new writing into it - either is fine!

Please try not to have conversations or chat here - you can post writing, give critique and discuss others' writing but if off topic conversations happen here, it's likely the topic will be deleted or closed by the Scratch Team. We'd like to avoid that. <3

Remember to check any writing you post to make sure it does not contain any personal details or private information. If it does, you can either edit out/change the details or not post the writing! Stay safe online ^^

Ways to use this forum:
There are two main ways to use this forum - but other ways are okay too!

Making one post and editing your new writing into it. If you use this method, please edit new writing into the top of your post, so it's easier for leaders to find!

Making a new post for every writing piece (you could also include an optional “table of contents” post which contains a list of writing pieces and links to them!)

Reporting posts
Please don't hesitate to report other posts if you feel you need to! Valid reasons to report posts include:

- The post shares private information
- The post contains rude/offensive language
- The post is spam or off topic
- The post does not belong in this topic
- The post otherwise breaks Scratch's guidelines or makes you uncomfortable

When you click report, you will be provided with a comment box to explain why you reported the post - and please do so! It helps the forum moderators understand what you want them to do.

On the Scratch forums, there are lots of reasons you can report things other than that they're inappropriate. Reporting is not trying to get the user in trouble, picking on the user, or going behind their back - it's simply helping to keep the forums organized, tidy and Scratch safe. You won't get in trouble for reporting a post that doesn't need reporting, as there are no rules as to what does and doesn't need reporting. So it's fine to report posts that don't belong in this thread, are off topic, or are spam as well as inappropriate posts.

Discussing people's writing
It's completely okay to respond to and comment on people's writing here. However:

People won't necessarily see your responses to their writing, because they don't get a notification when you quote their writing. Instead, you can comment on their profile, either commenting on their writing there or saying something like “hey! I responded to your writing piece here: <link>”

It's also fine to give critique to others' writing here, but make sure to give the person the link to your critique!
Also, please keep in mind that not everyone here will want critique on their writing! Make sure to ask permission before giving anyone critique.

To get the link to a post, right click the top left corner of the post, where it says the date and time it was posted. Then click “copy link address”, and paste the link wherever you need it.

Personal writing threads
Personal writing threads will be allowed this session! However, please only make one forum topic for just your writing - put it in the "Things I'm Making and Creating" forum, and use that topic for the whole of this SWC session. This means not creating a new topic for, say, your writing competition entry, and certainly not creating a new topic for each writing piece, as this is a nightmare for forum moderators and other people using the forums.
It is still highly recommended that you use the megathread in order to be considerate to other forumers! Having a lot of different writing topics makes it harder to find other topics, so please consider carefully whether you'd be willing to use the megathread before creating a personal topic

Other Ways to Share Writing
Not everyone wants to share their writing in the forums, and that's fine - here are some other places it's okay to share your writing!

You could create a new scratch project (perhaps on an alternate account if you don't want to share writing on your main account!) and share your writing as an in-project comment, in the description and notes and credits, or pasted into a costume using the text tool.

You can take a photo or screenshot of your writing and either put it inside a scratch project or upload it to cubeupload, then share that link. You will need an account to use cubeupload, but it's a safe way to share images and the Scratch team allows it.

Please note that blankslate is not allowed. If you don't know what it is, it's a writing sharing program that we used to use frequently in SWC but is no longer allowed because of its lack of moderation.

Do not attempt to bypass Scratch's filter in order to share writing on sites that are not allowed. Not only are these sites banned for a reason, but you will get caught if you attempt to share links to them on Scratch. Proof shared via other sites will not count. Cubeupload is the exception to this rule, as it is allowed by Scratch in order to share images on the forums ^^

Thanks everyone, and happy writing!

(Many thanks to Kat, Sun, Luna, Robin and Linden for writing the megathread post in previous sessions, from which this was mainly copied!

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2026

Camper Rules

If you believe any of these rules shouldn’t apply / should apply differently for a specific case (e.g. adding a daily when this guide says not to), take it to the hosts! We’re happy to deal with edge cases and/or disputes on an individual basis. Questions about these should be taken to your leader or a host's profile, not asked here

TLDR
  • Only literary words may be added - see the first section below for a full description of this!
  • Leaders may ask for proof of writing if they believe the amount you're adding is unrealistic.
  • You must give an explanation of what you were writing when you add words. Leaders will not add words without this.
  • You may not add more than 10,000 words at once.
  • Dailies and weeklies must be commented in the Main Cabin before they end, even if the description has not yet been updated.
  • Proof for dailies and weeklies must be shown on Scratch. There will not be exceptions to this rule for having inappropriate writing.
Proof of winning a word war isn't necessary - they're run on an honor system.
  • Please do not escalate arguments! Simply stop responding and report any offensive comments.
  • Make sure not to take cabin rivalries too far and remember that the point is to have fun!
Adding words

You can add words whenever you write literarily using your cabin’s word counting method - this will most likely mean commenting the number of words you wrote in your cabin’s word counting location (this will likely be a studio but could also be a forum, profile or project!) as well as a summary/brief description of what you are adding. (E.g. “+503 words for part of an essay”.)
Your leaders will add these words to your total.
We keep track of words during SWC as they make up part of a cabin’s total points at the end of the session as well as acting as a motivation factor for campers.

*See a list of things that count below:

What counts
  • Roleplay - As a guideline, you should be somewhat in character and there should be description of actions in addition to dialogue
  • Fictional writing
  • Non-fictional writing
  • Literary journal entries
  • Writing in another language - if you’re unsure on how many words to add because the language counts writing in a different way (e.g. character counts in Chinese), Google Translate it to English and use that word count. We hope that this will be close to the number of words it would be in spoken language, but if you have a different suggestion, please let us know!
  • Schoolwork - essays, assignments that include literary/analytical writing (such as worksheets requiring analysis of parts of a novel) but not note taking or non-literary writing such as writing out math problems
  • Giving critique (but only the words you wrote! If you gave 1000 words of critique but 300 of those were quotes of the original writing, add 700 words)
  • Stream of consciousness writing
  • Vents/rambles
  • Formal emails that are longer than a paragraph
  • Explanatory SWC dailies that are longer than a paragraph
  • Words from comics
  • Parodies (so long as it’s mostly your original thought)
As a general rule, if it contains your original ideas, it counts.

What doesn’t count
  • Notetaking
  • Texting, commenting, etc.
  • Copying another person’s writing
  • Translating
  • Writing thing out from memory / copying things out (e.g. copying out a textbook, lyric spam)
  • Code - even if using a text based programming language!
Needing proof
  • If your leader thinks that the amount you’re writing is unrealistic, they may ask for proof or choose not to add it.
  • You must outline what you were writing when you add words. Your leaders will not be allowed to add the words otherwise! (a sufficient outline could look like: “365 words were from an english worksheet, 1946 were from working on my novel, 568 from the daily, 2868 from working on an essay”. Be aware that a timespan for the writing is not a sufficient outline!)
  • If you are uncomfortable sharing proof for writing, that’s okay! Exceptions to giving proof (even for large blocks of writing) can be provided on an individual basis and you will have better luck getting one if you cooperate and are willing to give partial proof and detailed explanations/descriptions on what you’ve written. Other solutions to this can include giving a leader/host proof in a discreet location (on scratch of course - this could be editing an old forum post or putting it in a comment inside an old project).

Reserves
  • Reserves are words that you don’t add right away.
  • Only up to 10k words may be added at a time, regardless of whether or not you share the writing.
  • An exception may be granted if you were unable to access Scratch for over a week. Please contact a host if this is the case!
  • All words become reserves after camp is over in all timezones.

Activities
  • Activities must be submitted before they end in UTC, even if the Main Cabin description has not been updated yet!
  • Campers and leaders are expected to give all required proof for weeklies and dailies, and it must be submitted on time to earn points.
  • Proof must be provided on Scratch, and all writing must be Scratch appropriate if you need to provide proof for it. Photos of writing count as proof, and may be shared using a Scratch-approved image host.
Dailies
  • If you have a question about a daily, ask in the main cabin! Hosts and/or leaders will make a judgment on this - if you’re a camper, please refrain from answering any questions that are subject to interpretation (clarifying rules and such is fine!), leave it to the leaders and hosts please <3
  • Extensions for dailies are unavailable as there really isn’t any point in granting them given the low point value and short timeframe of dailies.
Weeklies
  • If you are uncomfortable sharing proof for a weekly, you should contact the hosts or your leader as early as possible. Exceptions to giving proof can be provided on an individual basis and you will have better luck getting one if you let us know early (as opposed to simply refusing to give proof when trying to add your weekly). Other solutions to this can include giving a leader/host proof in a discreet location (on scratch of course - this could be editing an old forum post or putting it in a comment inside an old project).
  • If you have queries about a weekly, try to wait until a host or member of the daily team can clarify.
  • Extensions for weeklies can be granted on an individual basis. You should let the hosts know as early as possible and you can discuss it with us from there.

Writing Competition, Word Wars, & Cabin Wars

Information on these events is provided as time progresses during the session. However, if you have any questions beforehand, you’re more than welcome to reach out to a host with them!

Honoraries

Honoraries are people who are NOT participating in a session of SWC, but are invited by a leader to hang out in a cabin as an unofficial member and boost morale and/or have a role in the storyline. However, they are restricted from doing anything that leaders would typically do, such as adding words. They may not be listed in the cabin description.

If you would like to partake in a different cabin's activities or storyline, you can ask that leader if you can do so. This does NOT make you an honorary. Rather, you are just a member of a cabin who is participating in the activities of another cabin. The leader may agree or refuse (and they may decide how much of a role you can have and which of the activities you may do), and you are expected to be accepting of any decision they make. Leaders are also not allowed to list people who do this in the cabin description, and they cannot make any further contributions than completing the activities.

Anyone is welcome to hang out or boost cabin morale in other cabins at any point. Do try to be the most enthusiastic in your own cabin, though — your fellow campers will appreciate it!

Please see this project if you have more questions.

Arguments and Drama
  • If any links to leader discussions are leaked, please ignore the comments. If it can be classified as spam, you can report the comments, but please don’t mass report with multiple accounts as that can lead to alerts from the ST.
  • If you get into a fight with anyone, it’s best to stop responding so it doesn’t escalate. You can ask your leader or a host for help. Of course, report any offensive material you see as part of such an argument (e.g. projects calling people to report a specific user or people speaking badly about others).
  • Please take care to not take cabin rivalries too far! Using this tone indicators guide can be helpful in ensuring that no one’s feelings get hurt. If you do feel that someone has gone beyond friendly jokes, you can remind them that it’s just for fun, report the comments, or ask a leader/host for help, depending on what you feel fits the situation!
Thanks for reading all of this! Again, if you have any questions or believe there should be an exception, please comment on a host's profile, not in this forum <3

kat's treasure hoard
RAWR!

dailies ঌ

daily #1
words: 357
notes: first day point daily?? :0

Dear future Kat,

I hope you're doing well! If you're reading this, guess what– I'm you from the past. Right now, there is nothing dramatic going on in school, and I hope it stays that way in your time.

How did all those tests this week go? Especially math. I am downright terrified for math, because algebra just makes everything harder. I mean, sure, finding x is fun, but not when you have to simplify an expression that takes up the width of the page.

You better have advanced at least one thousand words into our novel! And hopefully started using our whiteboard better. Now that it's instaleld, there are like a million productive things you could do with it. Also, don't forget to keep our Duolingo streak going!!

And there is this thing I've been meaning to ask you! Voting for the cultural committee is on Monday, and I'm so stressed. In front of sixth and seventh grade, I got a lot of compliments on my speech, but the eighth graders are downright brutal. I'm also pretty sure I forgot like half the speech. But to be fair, my teacher told me we would be presenting for the eighth graders tomorrow! So that went horrible– along with my chances at vice captain.

But I am not going to lose hope! But remember that whatever happens, it doesn't define your worth– bet you'll find another position someday that's even grander (fingers crossed)!

I wonder if you're still missing sixth grade– you probably are, because that was the kind of year that one can never forget! But so far, seventh grade is shaping up to be not as bad as I thought it would be. Well, you can't have a joyride of a year every single class, and anyways, I think this class has potential.

I would advise you to keep playing badminton regularly. It is such an amazing sport, so don't let the demotivation get to you!

Remember the oath to live your best life, be a responsible person, try to reduce your carbon footprint, and let's do this!

The past self you hopefully won't regret,

Kat

notes: chat this was not intentional promise TOT i kind of lost the plot whoopsies.. “she can turn you into an onion that’ll end up on her plate”

I look up at the grand diamond doors of the palace. The guards stare at me, their spears blocking up my entry.

“I'm new here,” I explain. My fingers twitch, resisting the urge to sift through my pocket to make sure it's still there. They glance at each other, then let me through, one of them joining my side.

Where are they taking me? To the princess, maybe, my brain fires back. Why? That's obvious, I think– to make sure I'm legitimate. When, who, where? I list all the questions out in my mind. I was raised to ask these– and I've started to use them as nervous habits, listing facts to calm myself down.

I only get one chance at this. This particular fact doesn't help, and I lock my fingers into a natural position.

I see a woman down the hallway as we make a turn, and goosebumps ripple across my arm.

The first word that comes to mind is ‘majestic’. But one doesn't think much at the sight of her. I thought they were only rumors, old wives' tales. Everyone knows the royal family is immortal, but my grandmother told me there is something special about this one.

If I blink the haze out of my eyes, I can see a shimmer around her body, like a wisp of /magic/. Never in all of my days would I have thought the stories would be true. But the princess makes me want to empty my pockets and swear fealty and betray the people that raised me and all sorts of stupid things.

“Oh, good, you're here!” the princess' voice is high and clear, ringing in the empty corridor. “I'll take her from you,” she says to the guard. He lifts his hand from my shoulder, before an invisible force makes me stumble forward so quickly that I drop onto my knees, my hands bracing against the ground.

I glance up. The princess has one finger bent, and is surveying me. Then she unfurls it, and I can finally breathe again. Fear stabs me in the chest. I knew she was powerful, but this powerful? I smile up at her, unbending my knees. I almost stand taller than her, but something tells me to hunch my shoulder.

Maternal must be crazy to think I can complete the mission shadowed for the most powerful person on the continent. When she turns away, I deem it safe enough to check that the hidden pocket sewn into my dress is still safe. The stitches are just starting to pull.

“You shall be my chambermaid,” says the princess, her voice startling me out of my thoughts. Who is she? Magical, esteemed, royal, and the adopted daughter of the king and queen. Where is she? In the palace in the capital of the country. Where am I? Next to her. What time is it? Just after noon.

“You shall help the other maids with cleaning, and other errands,” she continues, waving a hand in the air. The gesture looks impossibly graceful.

Who am I? Karla… Blum, was it? A flowery alias for a not-so-flowery person.

That night, in the chambers, I've adjusted rather well to my surroundings. My room is gigantic, complete with soft curtains and the second biggest bed I've ever seen (the first was the princess'. Imagine, all that space, for one person!). I'm sharing the room with two other people, well-mannered daughters of nobles. How Maternal managed to get me here amongst them, I have not the slightest idea.

I check that I'm alone, then rip open the stitches in one fold of my dress. The key slips out. Picked from the pocket of a general, this key is the most valuable possession Sonnen has. We've really stepped up our game recently, and are on track to becoming the most notorious organization the world has known.

I use the word organization generously, yet relish it. We started as a street gang, and evolved. Now we're feared. I can't say I don't enjoy it.

“Who are you, really?” a sharp, nasal voice cuts through the air. I freeze, barely catching the key before it slips from my fingers. I whirl around, but a finger taps me from behind.

My training kicks into action. My double jointed elbow twists around and grabs my pursuer's arm. I grip it even tighter when I feel them starting to resist. I recognize that voice from somewhere. I turn the rest of myself around.

It is one of my roommates– Laura. She's the more silent of my two companions, the other (Elise, I think?) chattering nonstop.

“Aren't you supposed to be doing your duties?” I say coldly. Her eyes are wide, bewildered. Being double jointed can be annoying, but it comes with many assets.

“Aren't you?” she bites back. I shake my head– I was given the evening's leave to get settled in my chambers.

“It's none of your business, anyways,” I try to hide the key behind my back.

“You're a thief,” she narrows her eyes. “I recognize the key to the royal vault, you know.”

I hiss. Of course I managed to ruin it all. Horror courses through me. Failure is always punished in Sonnen, but getting caught? Even if we make it back, there's an execution waiting on both sides.

“We can help each other,” she relaxes under my grip. I loosen my hand, and let it drop to my side, settling into a subtle fighting stance just in case.

“What do you mean?” I ask.

“The princess is getting powerful,” Laura runs a finger across her sleeve– and I notice the slightest point of silver peeking out. I hold my breath. “Too powerful.”

“What do you mean?” I force myself to push a breath in, and out, in, and out. What is my name? Karla Buma. Blum. Karla Blum.

“I'm an assassin,” she puts a hand forward. Distaste rises up in me. I might have hurt some people, but a life is not mine to take. Then what she's saying registers.

“You can't assassinate the princess!” I stage whisper. I could be marked as an accomplice. I resolve to steal the crown jewels as soon as I can.

“Yes, I can,” her eyes harden, and she darts forward and grips my wrist. I narrow my eyes. A wave of barely visible fog, coiling around her like a serpent. She… is magical. “After all, she's my sister.” The hate in those words hits me like a wall. I did not sign up for this. Not the heist, and definitely not royal family drama. Until I remember– the princess is adopted.

She looks up at me, and her face changes. /Changes/, her features warping and twisting till she is the princess, or the princess is her. I can't tell. Shapeshifter, my brain screams. Suddenly, I picture her neatly cut fingernails growing into claws.

“You have the skills I need. Extra skills, as in collateral damage, I mean.”

“And if I don't?” I hiss, pulling out of her grasp. Laura– if that's even her real name –snaps her fingers, and suddenly I am very small, staring up at her. And then nothing.

And I am myself again, not able to remember the last second. Or was it an hour? A day? What time is it? Evening, I tell myself desperately.

“What did you do?” my frustration finally lashes out. My skin feels raw. The lingering scent of something unpleasant lies around, reminding me of childhood meals hastily stuffed down my gullet and washed down with water. She ignores my question, stepping closer, trapping me between her and the bedpost.

“I can turn you into an onion,” she says softly. “So you will listen.”

An onion?

“Can you turn me into other things too, or…?”

“That's not the point!” Laura's eyes flash. “But no. My signature is the onion.” I have to stifle a laugh. “I didn't choose it, you know!”

“Mhm.”

Suddenly, she grabs my wrist again, leaning in very close. “You will do what I say, understand?” I nod, fear washing over me again. “Good. We strike tonight.”

notes: tyy lyra for doing this with me <3

LYRA: Alright then! Can you please tell me a bit about yourself before the interview?

KAT: Hi there! I'm Kat, I use she/her pronouns, and am an animal lover at heart, for the basics. I love to read, write (though I'm assuming you guessed  ), and do puzzles. Anything else you need to know before we get started?

LYRA: No, thank you, Kat! Next, can you tell us about your experience in SWC? When did you join? How many sessions have you participated in, and what were/are your roles?

KAT: Ooh, sure! I joined in November 2023, a humble backup camper for Adventure, and haven't missed a session since! So that would be about… nine sessions?! I hadn't realized! I've been a camper for most of them, and a (co)leader thrice. First time co-leading mythology, then horror, then leading fantasy this session.

LYRA: Wow, you have a lot of experience! My next question for you is: what is your favourite part about leading a cabin?

KAT: Well, there are a lot of things that make leading amazing, but if I had to choose, it would be meeting all of your campers, and watching the cabin slowly fill up with conversation!! It’s a feeling like no other— I can still remembering pulling the most bizarre face when I woke up to results. I was expecting them to come the next day, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise!

LYRA: Yes, I agree with you. I love waking up to new projects, leaderboard updates and chaos too. This next question is probably hard, but… If you had to pick one favourite memory from an SWC session, which one would it be?

KAT: Wow, that’s the ultimate question! In all my sessions of SWC, I’ve been through so much awesome chaos! But if I had to pick one, it would either be looking through Asha’s fanart of the myth leaders— it warmed my heart! Or it would be all the fun we had in fairy tales March 2024, with Snow White’s tale. A lot of the people from that cabin are participating this session!

LYRA: Yes, of course, it's hard to pick one memory when you've been in so many sessions… Now, the last question for today: if you could change anything about SWC, how it works, its activities, its community… What would you change?

KAT: Well, this is almost equally as hard— but I would perhaps make the communication more open? For things like cabin wars, and special events, they’re announced pretty late or not at all, so it’s hard to plan for them in advance. So maybe I would add like a camp calendar, with all the main events. This is only a small thing, however, and SWC’s already pretty perfect! Thank you for the interview, and have a good day!

LYRA: Yes, I agree with you! That's a great idea. Well, that's all for today. Thank you so much, Kat! Have a nice day!

Pip blinked at Ravi. The world around them stopped. He was staring at her with his earnest brown eyes, his black hair swept roughly out of his eyes.

There was a slight buzz around them, of passerbys waiting for coffee, a friend group or two on their phones.

She didn't notice. Yet she couldn't bring her eyes to his, couldn't face her mistakes. That day in the forest still haunted her, how she'd left him all alone.

Hey, Sarge, remember me?

None of them said a word for a long time, until she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to kiss him, apologize, and act like nothing had ever happened.

“Hi!” he finally opened the conversation. She didn't know whether to feel relieved or guilty.

“Hey,” she traced the grooves in the wood. They were at a cafe, with two steaming cups of coffee and a latte respectively between them. They were getting cold.

Ravi reached forward and took her hands, saved them from wringing each other to death. The slight touch felt like electric shocks travelling up and down her nerves.

She'd missed him.

“How have you been?” he asked, and when she looked up, his smile was huge.

She didn't know how he could forgive her so easily, only hope that she would have done the same. She couldn't lose Ravi.

“College is going alright,” she admitted. Would have been better meeting him on the weekends. “And you?”

“Waiting to meet you,” he responded.

“Ravi, really, I'm sorry,” she couldn't hold it in anymore. He hesitated.

“Don't be!” he said. She tilted her head. His smile looked a little too forced— the corners of his eyes weren't crinkling the same way, his jaw too tight.

It was as if he'd rehearsed this. She could imagine him trying to get them back to who they used to be, in front of the mirror at night.

“I wouldn't blame you if you did.” She curled her hands around his fingers, and finally met his gaze.

They weren't back to normal yet, but they would be. Or maybe ‘normal’ was just loving each other unconditionally. Perhaps they were already there.

But she had a lot to make up for, and there was never a better time to start than now.

She sipped her coffee. “Do you want to go for a walk after?”

part 1:
magic systems— these should always have limits or consequences, to avoid having overpowered character. maybe these limits can also be tied in with the elements or natural order of the universe, for deeper worldbuilding. Or maybe we could bring in souls, because the price of one's conscience always makes for an interesting plotline. multiple intelligent species— the Spoken vs. the Speechless maybe? The divider line that separates them from animals. There need to be elves, humans, centaurs, shapeshifters, nymphs, and vampires. Also mermaids perhaps? medieval setting– most fantasy worlds are set in around the 1600s-1700s, though I never really wondered why. There are common elements during that time that are not present today, like battleaxes and swords in war, etc… fictional materials– such as an imaginary substance like a superstrong metal or crystal variety. These can be magical items that provide extra power, be really rare, or even be the plot device! Like a locket that gives supernatural abilities to the wearer?epic quests– the plot of many fantasy stories is that the characters go on an ultimate, world-saving adventure to unfamiliar terrain to complete a mission. Maybe to retrieve the aforementioned mystical object, or related to a person? government systems– there are several, also following a medieval-ish rulebook. Things like councils, monarchies, etc… The idea of royalty is very popular is fantasies. Maybe something more unique than just inheritance, like chosen ones?

part 2:
There are two divisions that make a difference in this world. Spoken and Speechless. There are five known Spoken species, the centaurs, the nymphs, the humans, the vampires, and the elves. There are several subclassifications.

Centaurs consist of different equine species, including horses, donkeys, and the deer family. Pegasi-centaurs are incredibly rare, and cannot fly.

Nymphs are connected to nature, and are either woodland or water nymphs.

Humans and vampires have only one species. In this world, vampires are not infectious.

As for the elves, they're classified into dark elves and light elves. They're also the most solitary species, with barely any of their kind in the public word outside of the biggest forest on the continent. The two sides are rival, though not at war.

Instead of each species having their one kingdoms, all of them mix and mingle. However, some species, like the humans and the elves, have their own ‘homeland’ established, along with an unique governing system.

Centaurs, nymphs, and humans mostly live in the Allwyn region of the continent (which is known as Xaqar, by the way)! Vampire, the least populous species, take up Fenkrae. And the rest of the continent is the forest, known as the Nix. Elves don't take up the whole space, only around half.

Centaurs don't have any magic in the sense, but their physical attributes are extreme. Humans don't inherit magic in their blood, but they can learn and practice the form of potions and sorcery. Vampires also don't inherit magic, but they're immortal and accumulate knowledge over time. Nymphs are the only species that has magic in their blood, and can range from basic magic like levitation, to the rarest form, mind manipulation. As for elves, they can talk to animals, and can learn basic magic, but nothing much else. All of these have special cases, though. Magic users are celebrated and often can easily earn positions of nobility.

part 3:
Oliv's mind wandered as she strolled through the marketplace of her city. The sun was high, freying on her nerves. It was noon, and she had to buy some cinderfruit for dinner, along with some lamb. They were going to have a treat tonight!

But so far, the day had been rubbish. She had been half asleep all throughout lectures, and this one nymph girl would not stop talking. And even though Oliv knew it wasn't very nice to judge her, she somehow didn't have the energy to care.

Her family knew that it would be hard to move to the Common Cities– but they had done it anyway, moving her from her lifetime friends, healthy diet, and acceptable sleep schedule to daylight.

And it wasn't so bad, because sunlight wasn't the monster everyone said it was. She just had to avoid it, but when she'd come into contact, she'd only gotten a minor burn. And the more she walked around in it, the less it hurt when a ray zapped her. Just in case, she adjusted her white umbrella so it covered her back. It hit someone with a slight thud.

“Watch yourself, bloodsucker!” a yell echoed from behind her. She almost whirled around in rage which would have exposed her to the sun, but she managed to count to ten while her knuckles whitened around the handle.

The term wasn't unfamiliar to her, but the inaccuracy of it all was astounding. It was like these people had never seen a vampire in her whole life. She bared her fangs, staring at her feet.

All of a sudden, a force pushed her facefirst to the floor. She managed use her speed to block the brunt of the blow, but it stung her elbows nonetheless. Her umbrella lay at her side. She could sense a crowd parting its way around her, eyes watching hungrily for some excitement.

And the worst and best, the sun. It beat upon her back like a whip, yet it felt like her nerves were washing away in a pleasant breeze. She shivered.

Ignoring the pain, the turned around and scrambled to her feet. The one who had pushed her was a human, red blood running through his veins. She scowled at him.

“What was that for?” she could feel her face turn red too, from the sun. Her skin prickled.

“What are you doing here?” he sneered.

She folded her arms. “Addendum 016 of the Ruleblock. All species are welcome in all part of the continent, unless specified by the area's government. Addition 002 of Avinde's law states that all the Spoken species are allowed citizenship in the area. So I'm doing what you're doing here, really,” she replied as calmly as she could.

“Wait, aren't you that girl from lecture?” he laughed. She gritted her teeth. Surely enough, she could remember his face from somewhere in the halls.

Picking up her umbrella with the grandest stature she could manage, she turned around and walked as if her top speed was the pace she used to cross the market. She didn't want to admit it, but she still felt homesick for a place that wasn't even where she lived.

She picked up a fruit or two from the stand, glancing at it to make sure it was ripe, then stacking five Ruta on the stall.

Half an hour later, she'd checked off her shopping list. She nearly threw the supplies in the kitchen, then ran up to her room. She could feel herself relaxing in the pitch black after she shut the shades.

In Fenkrae, it was dark at all hours. In Fenkrae, she didn't have to worry about the sun or humans or confusing linguistic classes– she rifled through her satchel to reach for her homework, instead pulling out a piece of paper. Strange. She hadn't put it in there.

Go home, bloodsucker!

She gritted her teeth, and threw it in the trash. If they couldn't get used to her, she would have to get used to them.

part 4:
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Abrax asked, rubbing the nape of his neck. Viria turned around and grinned, her cloven hooves scraping against the dry leaves on the forest floor.

“Of course it isn't!” she pushed past a tree branch jutting out of nowhere. Abrax looked up, frowning at the trees. They were too tall. Compared to the trees near home, which only stood a few feet above them, these towered.

Viria's gazelle body moved effortlessly through the thicket, while he, as an elk, was having some difficulties. Though the trees stood high, the brush was unbearable tangling under his hooves.

Suddenly, he heard a branch crack. He froze.

“Vir, wait,” he hissed. She turned, already sceptical.

“Quit being clumsy, and come on!” she grabbed one of his arms and tugs. Grumbling, he brushed grime off his new coat.

Out of nowhere, a figure stepped into view. They were obviously well versed with the forest, because they moved with a fluidity Abrax could never match that agility. Viria hissed as a glint of silver appeared, stomping her hooves impatiently.

“Who are you?” she demanded.

“I could ask the same of you,” the figure replied. They remained in the shadows, but Abrax could see a foxlike form.

“Oh, we're just travellers,” Abrax stepped in front of Viria, seeing his fists start to curl.

“This is our forest. Not yours, whatever sorry part of the continent you're from!” The light shifted, and the figure turns their snout up.

That was weird. He hadn't seen their mouth move.

“You guys are going phoenix hunting?” the feminine voice exlaimed, and Abrax clutched at his head. His hair was flying in all directions. Subconsciously, he smoothed it down.

“That is so not allowed!” the fox boisterously yelled. She came into the light. She really was just a silver fox, with shiny markings on her snout and tail.

“You're a kitsune!” Viria pointed, and Abrax resisted the urge to tell her that was rude. “But… you only have one tail?”

The fox– kitsune –wrapped her lone tail around herself, baring her fangs. “I'm learning, you know. We aren't born with an excess of limbs. We earn them,” she stared pointedly at my arms. Abrax folded them.

He did not have an excess of limbs! He opened his mouth to argue his point, his communication skills flared to life.

“Okay, hold up!” Viria pushed out her palms. “Why can't we go phoenix hunting? They've got the prettiest feathers in all the lands!”

The kitsune looked mortally offended. “Excuse me? They're more intelligent than you, mind!”

Viria narrowed her eyes. “What business is it of yours, though?”

“I protect everyone's life here. And I would have called the elders on you, had you not been a living thing too. Shame you think literal magical beings are mere animals!”

Viria looked ready to stamp the kitsune out of existence, so Abrax clutched at her arm.

“How about if we just ask for a feather?”

He would have preferred just leaving the forest, forgetting this had ever happened, and ending this not-so-jolly trip, but his sister Viria had a bad habit of landing them into promises they couldn't keep.

“They'll blast you,” the kitsune preened. Viria fumed.

“We're not going back, you know,” she glared.

Suddenly, the kitsune's eyes lit up. “I know! I know!” she squealed. Abrax exchanged a glance with his centaur companion. “I'm under apprenticeship to become a guide, so how about I guide you to your destination? It'll give me a little magic, and you your feathers, for whatever purpose you desire them.”

He had to admit, it sounded like a good deal.

“Accepted,” Abrax said as professionally as he could, stretching out a hand. The kitsune looked up as if she was going to bite him. He withdrew the hand.

“So, what's your name?” Viria leaned against a huge tree trunk.

“Vix,” the kitsune replies. Her tail flicked in the air, and she padded around in a little circle. He'd heard that kitsunes had nine tails, and she'd said she had only one because she was still learning.

Were they trusting their path to a mere child? Still, Viria looked plenty excited. Then again, she didn't have the best survival instincts.

A second later, they were off, Vix off through the undergrowth, Viria racing after her, and Abrax left to tromp in their trails. It felt like a whole day passed, and they hadn't seen anything other than an extremely rude pigeon.

And then, Vix paused. She sniffed around the air for a second, and then it hit Abrax too. The company looked up. Burrowed in the bough of the tree, was a phoenix, fireball curled up in its wing.

Its feathers were like molten fire, strung into wings. It's beak was a cruel crag hanging off its beautiful black eyes, surveying them.

“Wait!” Vix retreated, her limbs bundling up into one another. Abrax almost wanted to pick her up.

“Can we have a feather?” Viria broadened her shoulders, antlers sticking obstinately out of her forehead.

“Why should I give it to you?” the phoenix hissed. They glance at each other. Then, slowly, Viria passes over a locket. The glint of the gold shines in the bird's eyes. The fireball fades into its body as it leaps forward to catch it.

A single feather floated down, and Abrax leaned out to hold it between his fingers before it hits the ground. It slightly burns. He tucked it in his coat pocket. A stab of regret hit him. He looked up, trying to keep the melancholy expression out of his face.

If they wanted to leave the forest region safely, the owner of the cabin they were staying in had wanted a phoenix feather. It was risky, travelling in these parts. Pickpockets called this place their home.

But now they could be granted safe passage, and Vix would grow a tail, maybe.

“One for the locals?” the kitsune suggested. The phoenix made a noise that sounds like a snort, and yet another feather drifted down.

Vix caught in her mouth. They departed with a phrase of gratitude, making their way back home. When they were nearly out of the deepest part of the forest, Viria stopped.

“We can make it from here, now,” she still had a note of awe in her voice.

“Here you go,” Vix beckoned to Abrax. “Feather for you,” she pressed it into his palm. He blinked down at it.

“But–”

“No buts!” she yelled. She swished her tail around, another burst of excitement coming on. “You've already helped enough!” She danced a little on her paws for a while, then flicked one ear at them and turned, disappearing into the forest.

Viria stared, blinking.

“See, little brother? My ideas are always good.”

He rolled his eyes, and tucked the second feather into his coat pocket. For once, he couldn't argue.

If any, the weeklies will be listed here:

DAILIES:

01/07

Hello to everyone here! My name is Fari, I'm 19, and this is my 5th session (and 5th year in SWC)! I'm a Muslim, female, and British. And for some interesting(?) things about me: I am a science nerd who should (God willing) get into Medical School this year; my hobbies are art, writing, singing, and animating; I am also a… fandom nerd… (I've been in an OMORI rabbit hole for 4 years now, and an Oshi no Ko rabbit hole for 3); I love reading into Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)'s biography, as well as Pride and Prejudice. Also, I have a job (☠️☠️). Anyway, thank you for having me!

(926)

Dear Future Fari,

Assalamu Alaikum Fari.

In the past 4 SWC sessions you managed to complete, 3 of them were competitive, where you wrote an average of ~30k per session. Insha Allah we are capable of writing 30k this time around too, but there's a twist this year; you're in India. We aren't in the UK at all this session, and even to write this daily right now I'm cutting sleep and writing at the crack of dawn because God knows if I'll even get time to write during the day. It's a conundrum stacked upon layers and layers of unknowns…

Honestly, I've never been a fan of reflecting on my life. Hope this suffices, and you know you're not a fan; December 15th 2024, remember? But anyway, what I want to achieve this session is a bit different: I want to use SWC to write, and I want to enter the writing competition and up the number of word wars I do (I've never fancied word wars to be frank, I normally only did 1 or 2 on the happenstance that the daily said ‘word wars')- but underneath it all, I want to make friends. Since my first session I've been straddling cabins while clinging to the support of people I already know, and I haven't really made a lasting friendship with anyone, so my biggest goal is to find camaraderie with someone. Although, I am 19 now- but in SWC it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue; sure, the majority of scratchers are scratch-aged, but there are a number of 18-year-olds that I've seen, which is on par with myself. Not to say I have to befriend an 18-year-old; I'm less worried that I'm on the DNI lists of SWCers. :’)

Ahhh last time I wrote this letter, I put all my predictions for Oshi no Ko season 2 and the ending of the Oshi no Ko manga, so I have to do that this year too. Although, season 2 finished in 2024, season 3 is already out, and season 4 is currently in production and might possibly be out in late 2027. How Time Flies. I can't predict the manga that finished in 2024 either, but I have one anime prediction: PLUG THE PLOTHOLES! Please explain how Aqua and Hikaru met each other on that cliff, why Aqua and Akane were working together, and how Aqua's developed a burning desire to live! Please bro I need this…

My headcanons for all 3 are as follows: Aqua called Hikaru after finding out from Akane about Nino's attempt on Ruby's life, so that's why Hikaru and Aqua had their confrontation at Aqua's brooding spot (he and Tsukuyomi normally yap there); once Aqua decided he wanted to live he probably straight up told Akane, but in addition made it clear that Nino and Hikaru had a plan against Ruby's life, so Akane interpreted Aqua’s wishes as less of a revenge plan but more so a plan to protect Ruby from imminent harm; Aqua realises after watching Ruby’s DVD that Ai's wish is not only help Hikaru but for Aqua (and Ruby) to grow up happy and healthy so Aqua internalises that and when trying to understand how it affects him he realises he should just live, and has a breakdown but then realises yes, he truly wants to live (AKA the conclusion from the live action; it was just so well done!).

I know this had nothing to do with SWC, but…

Anyway, one last thing! Hey Fari, insha Allah we will get into medical school this year. Please don't lose hope and please don't beat yourself up. It was internalising exam fears that woke me up this morning in the first place, so I know it scares you, but please please PLEASE have faith that it will all work out. What amount of revision could have prepared you for silly mistakes anyway? And your head doesn't know a thing about which way the grade boundary will slide this year. You had an awful 2025 which hurt because you didn't get into medical school, among many other fallout reasons, but fearing you'll get it again is just fear of the unknown. I love you and care about you and you can do this, be patient and keep trust in God. நீங்க போய் சொன்னரதுக்க அப்புறம், நீங்க மாயை இருக்கீங்க.

அது சரியான வார்த்தைகள், நான் நினைகிறேன்…

I hope your India trip goes well. I hope we stay in good health, unlike last time when I was sick for 3 weeks lol. I hope your Tamil improves. I hope you develop a better relationship with your grandparents. I hope you are able to help Daddy with every task that he flew to India to fulfill. I hope Mummy won't be shamed for your Tamil being bad; it's absolutely utterly ridiculous and you need to fight back when you get to her village, okay? Neither of us want to drag her name through the mud; I know you're in the future, but how could you call yourself Muslim while hating Mummy?? Plus, how is my Tamil inability her fault???

Insha Allah to it all.

On a more positive note, I hope you are able to help your parents with everything they ask of you. In that sense: that your Tamil becomes good enough that you can help your parents with all of their asks.

I'll see you in the UK, Fari. It better be colder than here; here it's 40 degrees! Eheh.

Kind regards, and I love you,
Past Fari.

02/07 (773)

Well done you lied to me, what's your name?
Thank you @VioAquaCat!

“Hehe…!”

Ai tilted her head, a lopsided bright grin twitched up as she glanced owlishly at Hikaru Kamiki.

Then, she chirped, “Did I do a good job, Miki-kun?”

“It's Kamiki.

“Kamiki?” Ai blinked, before righting herself and giggling, “…Oh! You're right!”

She knocked herself on the head with a fist.

“Ah… It keeps slipping my head! I'm so so sorry, Instructor-kun!”

“It's fine…” Hikaru mumbled, glancing warily at his student. The two of them were in the thick of their acting practise at Lala Lai theatrical company; Hikaru sat slumped against the wall- back aching from how long he had sat with his chin against his knees, while he scrutinised Ai's performance with his focused, transfixed, terrified pink-sapphire eyes. And his student, Ai-… was a ditzy, bedraggled airhead who was seconds away from tripping on a recalcitrant strand of her own shoelaces.

His eyes lifted to meet her.

He spoke too soon.

“Ai-san!”

“Wah-!”

Hikaru's breathing was torn ragged as he glared at Ai, his arms wrapped so tight around her torso it caused her to spasm out of a cough. Then, as he glanced at her blearily; Ai, whose face had been incorrigible to decipher, had her eyes still the same, her mouth only parted slightly, before she hopped onto her feet and sported a grin.

“Awe-!” she crooned, “You're my knight in shining armour, Miri-kun!”

With her arms wide, as if expecting a hug- she addressed him. Hikaru recoiled and hugged himself, “It's Kamiki…”

Because after all, the second dilemma that Hikaru was facing was that Ai couldn't remember his own name. She had to improve, therefore, on multiple fronts: learning how to act, taming her clumsiness, and looking him in the eye before calling him Hikaru Kamiki, as she had been told to.

“Oh,” Ai gasped, “Yeah!”

…Hikaru let out a sigh, his golden-blonde hair falling over his gaze as if shielding her view from the torrent of anxiety that overwhelmed his every word, every blink, every whisper, every unspoken prayer that he would actually be able to do his work. He glanced fretfully at Seijuro Uehara who had put him here in the first place, and then glanced back at Ai- his stare hardening.

Good grief, where on Earth does he start…?

“Um, Instructor-kun?”

Ai was glancing at him owlishly again. That owlish stare slowly shifted into creases under her star-studded gaze, and then a chortle hitched. Hikaru could hazard a guess that it was his face. He was smiling, but…

Albeit all she did, he did somewhat want to bear his soul with her, “Yes?”

“Stand over here,” she pointed out with a matter-of-fact tone, gesturing at the space just before her, “You look super tired with that stare, you know? Like my Prez when he's done scheduling a live tour. You should cool off your head; a kid shouldn't look like my Prez. So, act!”

It's the student who should come to the teacher…” Hikaru snipped back, although he wasn't fully opposed to the concept- he was an adaptive actor, so he knew how to be flexible with the asks of his peers- and stood, “Although, you know yourself best. Go ahead, Ai-san. I'll parry you.”

“Okay!” she quipped, smiling, yet enigmatic.

Ai knew it was true. Her instructor had been tense ever since the nice couple with grey hair and black hair had nudged him to coach her. Stiff and uneasy, with a smile that was too forced. It seemed cordial- a smile that was formed by creases under his eyes, and a tightness lacking in his lips- before he stumbled over every word like a scared kid younger than his age of 14. Yet… every one of his words was poised. Every one of his stage directions was succinct. He was clear, cordial, and respectful.

A kid working too hard. Trying not to look it, but lying through his every breath.

“Well done,” Ai hummed approvingly, watching her instructor, the liar- as he stood in his place, his fingers brushing one another before he stood tall, upright, and alert.

Checkmate.

So far, pretending to be a tad bit more ditzy than she really was had helped. He was exhausted now- but before, had been timid and scared. She wanted him to be at ease, and it seemed that her ploy worked.

She and he were liars. Her eyes welled with glee.

“Break a leg for me, Kaiki-kun!”

…Kaiki glanced at her in pain. Did Ai forget the poor kid's name again?

‘Ichigo Productions.’

Akane Kurokawa swallowed a breath she didn't realise she was carrying. She looked up to a plaque of a door that had been worn out with age- yet still rang through, after all of the years that past since the company was established. First set in stone before the millennium- which then housed some major talents for the majority of its 30-year legacy: the most notable of them all collectively sharing the exact same surname.

A small smile tinged the ends of her lips.

Ai Hoshino, a starlet by her very nature. Rising to the top in a handful of years, with boundless charisma, gumption, and empathy- the media's darling, and the spearheader of Ichigo Productions’ early success.

Ruby Hoshino, the daughter of Ai Hoshino. A starlet by her very nature. Rising to the top in a handful of years, with boundless energy, gumption, and a calculative wit- the media's darling, and the spearheader of Ichigo Productions’ later- and current- success.

Both had the Tokyo Dome greenlit as a performance venue.

Ruby had shone on the day she was there. If Ai was still around, she probably would've cheered.

And, lastly-

“Good morning, Aqua-kun!”

Aquamarine Hoshino; Ai's eldest, and Ruby's twin brother.

“A… Akane-?” the notable talent, yet at present- exhausted young adult- muttered, pushing the door open to allow Akane to step through. Aqua looked like he hadn't slept in days: his eyebags prominent and ghastly, his lip trembling, eyeline erratic and blonde hair bedraggled.

Akane leaned backwards, glancing at him innocently as she batted her lashes, “Someone's had a long day?”

“I just woke up.”

“Liar,” she fired back, entering the hallway, before briskly sliding off her ballet flats and entering the diner, her smug smile never truly leaving. Honestly, she'd walked into Ichigo Productions with the sole goal of teasing Aqua's brains out, and presently- it was the only thing on her mind.

…And for good reason. After all, Akane was prepared to be amazed, but didn't think she actually would be, as she was in the present. The dining table had papers laid askew, two coffee cups were laid unwashed, and a laptop was open at the centre on a page that wasn't due to update for the next hour, and yet- Aqua had already tore it open.

“Oh! Akane-chan,” Miyako Saitou called, holding her own steaming coffee cup- a warmer colour than the others- with her legs crossed on a chair adjacent to the pair, glancing at them mischievously, “Thank you for coming so early. Listening to Aqua over here is starting to drive me mad.”

Aqua narrowed his eyes, taking his seat before the laptop, and tsked at his snarky adoptive mother; Miyako was both the twins’ mother and the President of Ichigo Productions.

“-I'm joking, Aqua,” Miyako sighed, standing up and leaning over to fetch the small amount of stray mugs, “Although seriously: thank you for being here for him.”

“Don't mention it,” Akane smiled brightly, with excitement glinting in her eyes, “I wouldn't want to miss this for the world! Aqua-kun has been going on and on about how he wanted to become a heart surgeon since he was 16, you know?”

“Earlier than that,” Aqua mumbled.

“You don't say…” Miyako remarked, wandering about- first to the sink at the kitchenette, then to Aqua's shoulder to place down a hand, “Really, Aqua? You told Akane-chan at 16, but only told your mother when you were already in Medical School?”

“Sorry.”

“He's so focussed,” Akane mused. Aqua had been staring daggers at his laptop page from the moment she'd arrived- arms crossed, and chest gradually rising and falling, occasionally arrhythmically when his anxiety spiked up. Then, he returned back to staring- and the cycle would repeat. It started to look like the coffee was his- and the sleep busters (which were hidden at the side of the laptop) were all his too.

After all, he was waiting for something not-at-all life big: whether or not he was accepted to specialise in cardio-thoracic surgery.

He had entered Medical School at age 20. At 18, Aqua suffered a major abdominal stab wound as a result of his scuffle with Hikaru Kamiki, which was the catalyst for a hemorrhagic shock that left him bedridden for weeks on end. By the time that he was able to walk- he had missed the application window for the entrance exam, and was severely behind on school.

Trying to achieve every one of his dreams remained at the forefront of his mind. First and foremost was become a surgeon, so Aqua threw his heart into studying and preparing even when it worried Ruby and Miyako, because he didn't want to rest. He was a former doctor. He was aware of all his limits. He knew what he could do and what he couldn't. He could draw a line.

He got into Medical School, and topped his first year cohort as soon as he arrived. But as it went on- he still achieved great scores, but found himself studying more than he'd anticipated; the frontiers of Medicine had advanced drastically over the last 30 years since he was in the same position as Gorou Amamiya. Hence, he studied hard, but was still worried that he wouldn't get into his dream specialty, even after 2 years of rotations throughout everything.

His distraught expression now- glaring at his laptop without a care in the world otherwise- was the product of a perennial terror that had lingered in his mind throughout all his years of study.

“Where's Ruby-chan? And Saitou-san?” Akane blinked, addressing Miyako who was once again sat at the far-end of the table- as Aqua was an unresponsive ghoul.

“Ichigo, in fact, is trying to wake up Ruby,” Miyako pointed out in a sing-song tone. As it seemed… Miyako was still using her husband Ichigo as her personal errand boy.

“But Ruby-chan was so thrilled when Aqua-kun got into Medical School,” Akane pondered, “I thought she would be around.”

“She was,” Miyako nodded, “But since Aqua will end up as a doctor whether or not he succeeds today-… Ruby thinks that she can just sleep in until the minute of.”

“She's just like Himekawa-san.” Taiki Himekawa, the twins’ older half-brother, who would sleep all day if he was told to.

“She is,” Miyako hummed.

“…Both of you…”

“Please… Shut up…” Aqua croaked weakly, once again peering at the screen, then hopelessly at Miyako, “Mom, the final questions of my interview were totally out of my depth. They tested me in creative aspects to test my aptitude, for example, ‘What would you bring to a medically-themed party?’, and, ‘If you were to go on holiday, where would you go and why?’. I didn't have an answer pre-prepared for any of them.”

Miyako sighed, “You're an ex-actor, Aqua.”

“But it's creative.”

“But my beloved son has always been a genius.”

“Good grief…” Aqua dryly cut her off, as Miyako simpered in reply, piping down too. Akane folded her coat in her arms, scrutinising both of their expressions, but chose to say nothing- except wait for something to happen. The atmosphere was so thick that Akane's chest began to tighten, as if Aqua's tense aura was starting to ricochet at her mind too.

“Hey, hey, A-kun!”

Kana Arima skipped forward, almost stumbling as she ran in from the kitchenette to the dining room, having somehow been invisible before (Akane cursed her tunnel vision on Aqua), before placing both hands on Aqua’s shoulders. Kana- or Mem-cho, as she also fell in the same bracket- didn't live under the roof of Ichigo Productions. However- Akane shook her head as it hit her that she really shouldn't have been surprised that Kana dove in unannounced.

Akane had played their matchmaker. Aqua and Kana were 7 years strong and together.

“Did you get in yet?”

“Don't play dumb,” Aqua snapped, “This thing won't be updating at all for another hour.”

“Mhm! You're right!” Kana crooned, leaning into his eyeline “And since you won't stop worrying and brooding, I've already made you a half-decent breakfast. And if you decide that you don't want it, I'll force feed it to you. Capiche?”

Aqua let out a weighted sigh, lulling his head back into Kana’s arm, which was directly in his trajectory. Kana ruffled his hair in return.

She then looked over at the room, “Oh, Akane.”

“Good morning to you too, Kana-chan.”

“Figures you'd be here, I don't know what else I expected,” she groaned, letting out a sigh that was somehow as deep as what Aqua was managing, “Anyway, want to be useful? You can help me pull this zombie out of the dining room and into somewhere else.”

“Excellent idea,” Miyako smiled.

“Okay!” Akane giggled.

Aqua just glared, his hands in tight fists as he peered at the screen again. Yet… sighed. This really was getting him nowhere.

Kana’s eggs were satisfactory. Kana hadn't cooked that many either- she still had a long way to go, considering how she had relied on Uber for almost a decade for her meals- so Akane skipped out, while Aqua ate most of them. It took him an utterly long time. He wasn't fed, but he ate extremely slowly.

The rest went to Ruby. A bouncing, skipping, ball of excitement who had barrelled into her brother shouting, ‘You can do it, Sensei!’, over and over again. Ichigo was left to cook in Kana's stead. Plus, Mem-cho arrived half an hour later with a camera, snacks, and a wicked grin- so said camera was now perched at the far end of the diner as per her (forced) promise that this was only for Aqua's family.

Once again, everyone was crowded around the laptop.

3…

2…

1…

Aqua reloaded the page.

His jaw slacked.

Eyes widened.

Lip parted.

“Yes!”

Ruby screamed before the rest of the room could catch up. Kana gasped sharply, while Mem-cho snapped back with a, ‘Yeah!’, Miyako grinned widely, and Ichigo let out a sigh of relief.

Akane beamed, letting out a shrill of approval, before turning to Aqua's pale white face. He wouldn't move.

“Onii-chan! Onii-chan!” Ruby exclaimed, hugging him from behind and shaking him, “You did it! You did it! You did it!

“Wh- huh..?” Aqua garbled.

“Your long time dream…!” Akane gasped, “Aqua-kun, you achieved your long time dream!”

“You're an actual cardio-thoracic surgeon now, huh?” Ichigo remarked, “Good riddance. These Hoshinos don't know when to stop…”

Miyako only smiled. Then, Kana grinned with that star-struck sun-like brilliance that she only had when she knew that Aqua had been looking at her.

“You genius,” she smirked, her lips pecking her partner’s head.

They were all happy.

Aqua had suddenly paused.

‘I have my own dreams. I'll become a surgeon. It might be a good idea to respond to Arima's feelings… Calling Miyako ‘Mom’… I want to thank Akane for all the kindness she's shown me and build an equal relationship with her. And I definitely want to see Ruby performing at the Dome.’

He could hear his own voice from only seconds before his stabbing.

Ruby had performed at the Dome long ago. Akane, and him, were no longer hiding secrets: Aqua was being open to her about anything. Miyako was ‘Mom' to Aqua. Kana was dating Aqua. And lastly… Aqua had become a cardio-thoracic surgeon.

Everything.

It hit him like a freight train. Aqua couldn't breathe.

“Onii-chan, are you crying!?

“N… No…”

“Don't lie to the camera, Aqu-tan!” Mem-cho sneered, having already hopped towards it, “The playback has already caught it all! We have Denial, Anger, Bargaining… Now we have Depression!”

He couldn't bring himself to talk, as his throat was tight and wracked with an overwhelming, crushing, flooding catharsis, knocking into his back and letting tears flow helplessly.

“Give the poor boy a break!” Miyako finally laughed, warding Ruby and Kana away before placing an arm around Aqua's head herself, pulling him closer to her, before facing the others, “This calls for a big celebration! How about we call that yakiniku place he likes?”

Ruby gleamed, “Miyaemon, let's!”

“Miyako-san, Ruby will just steal half the platter!” Kana groaned in return, dodging how secretly thrilled she was. Ruby caught on instantly, and the two began a back-and-forth.

“Kana-senpai's lying! She eats like a glutton!”

“That's only after 10 hour acting rehearsals!”

“Is it really? You do it every time!”

“I act for a living! I've been in showbiz since I was in diapers!”

And so on. The room was loud once again. Mem-cho was having the time of her life filming everything as it came. Ichigo went to ring the place, while Miyako whispered encouraging words to Aqua. Akane gave Aqua a reassuring smile- and Aqua… slowly… wiped his eyes. Hearing everything around him brought him back to a grounding of normalcy. With his heart in his head, he knew that no matter what happened- even after achieving all his dreams- he was alive, he had survived, and he was going to live in a harmony that came close to the harmony he had had when he was with Ai.

Now, as a cardio-thoracic surgeon, he could save people who had been wounded like Ai.

He couldn't have been happier.

Midday, when they were all in the restaurant that Ichigo had scheduled a reservation for, Aqua received a call:

‘Taiki-san.’

(A compromise after Ruby had started calling him ‘Taiki-nii’).

Aqua groaned, and picked it up.

“Hey, lil’ bro?” Taiki Himekawa's voice rang out.

“Hi.”

“Did you get in?”

“Yeah.”

“Congrats,” Taiki wished offhandedly. Aqua almost let out a snort at that reply; while he had achieved all his aforementioned dreams, there was one he had omitted- with his lack of an older brother seeing his laptop being the reason: ‘hanging out with Taiki’.

…Which, like the others, had also come true. Even though Taiki only came around as and when he was free- whether or not he was busy with acting, or whether he was busy getting 10 hours of sleep- he was always making an effort to stay with his siblings.

Classic Taiki. A small smirk came to Aqua, before he glanced at the room again.

10/07 (517)

A corruscating display overwhelmed the hall, casting streaks of silvers which compounded into a myriad of a flood of light that touched up the walls and reflected electricity delightfully onto the ground, spinning with the jovial jives of the many.

Belle leaned closer into the Beast's chest, their waltz unbroken by her gesture. They were closer now. They were lovers now, and by the time the clock would strike… Belle's chest was tight with a longing that the Beast's torment would fall out of place. Finally, the curse would be lifted. Finally, his misfortune would come to pass.

And with him, she was so happy. She felt the steady drumming of his heartbeat as he held her- her own form breaking into a spin, her golden-yellow gown catching the light viridescently, refracting all eyes to meet her brilliance- and that heartbeat that followed her along wasn't relaxed. He was giddy and welled with excitement- so overwrought with joy that it made his blood roar in his ears.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Her heels hit the dance floor. He followed along with the poise of a royal that he could never truly forget. His large hands held her chiffon glove with a gentleness that rivalled his gestures of affection, and his eyes-… the epitome of care. She was the one woman keeping him alive, and to have her by his side made him the happiest beast alive. His mind was rife with glee and relief and a complex adoration that had confused him at first- but she only taught him it was the one thing he had wanted.

Belle was pulled into the Beast's grasp again by the thrumming of the music. His heart ran faster now- as did hers, and yet- her lifelong experience being caring and careful told Belle that following the Beast was not the next right thing. She looked into his gaze with an unwavering, strengthening, devoted cadence of reassurance. That she loved him, and she wouldn't dare seek a path otherwise.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

The hour was almost here.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Time froze. A vortex of light deludged the entire room in a cataclysm of sparks and beams that almost blinded Belle from every one of them, whether it was him or whether it was Lumière or Cogsworth or Mrs Potts or anyone-

Then, as the fractals of bright hues fell away, everyone was back as they were. Everyone was human just like her- a dream she had only visualised, that brought an overwhelming tremouring to her eyes as she saw them all. Sunlight forced its way through into the walls, doubling the vivacity so tremendously it was like an aureate sea had overtaken them.

A year of longing and wishing and wanting was all over. It ended in a colour pop that was never before seen.

Her beast was no longer a beast. Belle looked into her lover's eyes, and the sight of what she saw stole her breath away.

All she could mouth was 3 short words:

“Darn. You're ugly.”
