Question Mark Bug won't leave my unshared project I haven't touched in weeks.

The bug does seem to be fixing itself over time, I've seen some of my friends have their ?'ed sprites turn back to normal. It also seems to be device specific. I was on a “Yearblocks” project and some users saw 2002 and 2003 be ?'ed out, while I did not. This happened at the same time. Another bug alongside this is some sounds disappearing, which used to be a common problem too.

Hi, the same issue happened to two of my projects, one being an animation that I worked on for around…a year or so…and the other being an art dump.

And no, I don't have them saved as files anywhere.

I know they're not that good but I genuinely really hope they work again because I'm on the verge of quitting Scratch completely.

Question: Do the “?” marks stay forever permanently if you open a project that's not yours?

This is happening to me as well, I have backups but the ones I don’t. Are now lost permanently. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. REMAKING / FIXING TAKES AWHILE. Also scratch has been seeming to lag now along with this

Update, this has happened on ANOTHER project, specifically an unshared animation. I'd say it's mostly happening in unshared projects with a lot of costumes, or it could be any since the project was never that big and I last opened it like 3 weeks ago

On another note, comments also seem to be laggy? I was trying to post a message on my profile and when I reloaded the message kept disappearing and reappearing. Whatever's happening to the site is wrong on so many levels

Does anyone know what caused this bug to begin with? Is there any pattern on what sprites are affected or is it (seemingly) random?

Atleast back on May 21st 2026 while i was saving my shared Weather simulation project, there are no question marks around. But then days later when i come back to this project, WHAT THE HECK? QUESTION MARKS? OH HECK NAH THEY ARE INFECTING COSTUMES. THESE ZOMBIES KNOWN AS QUESTION MARKS WANT ME TO NOT WORK ON PROJECTS ANYMORE.
