New Terms Pop-up Is Broken

Please note that this doesn't happen when signed out. It only happens when signed in to an account that has not confirmed its agreement to the terms through the pop-up shown on the homepage and other 3.0 pages.

The links mentioned here are largely compiled from topic/542480.

2.0 Pages

Scratch's new terms pop-up doesn't show on Scratch 2.0 pages, (and certain 3.0 pages– I'll cover them below) such as the forums and user profiles. In most cases, this shouldn't be problematic for users– many people navigate to these pages from most 3.0 pages, such as the homepage.

Below are some of the following 2.0 pages which I know to work, though all 2.0 pages likely do.
Confirmed 2.0 Pages
/mystuff
/discuss
/statistics
/accounts/settings
/429
/info/quotes
/help/credits
/accounts/email_verify/success/?username=

I have been able to recreate and confirm user profiles with at least 4 different accounts, on none of which have I indicated acceptance of the terms though the pop-up.

It will probably not work with new accounts, as in order to create them, you must acknowledge agreement of the terms.

3.0 Pages

The “Contact Us” page is facing problems, which I believe are related– it's a 3.0 page, and it can be accessed just fine if you haven't signed in. However, this page has an error screen. It isn't a standard one– the wiki doesn't show it– and it has the layout of the error for not meeting system requirements, and has the text of the project crash error.

We are so sorry, but it looks like Scratch has crashed. This bug has been automatically reported to the Scratch Team.

The “Community Guidelines” page is, oddly, still able to be opened without showing the pop-up, as is “Become a Scratcher.” I have tried it with both a Scratcher and New Scratcher account. However, I don't have any accounts eligible for promotion which I can try it with.

Here are the 3.0-styled pages which don't show the TOS pop-up:

/become-a-scratcher
/community_guidelines

If you are able to confirm that anything I've listed is correct or find that anything is incorrect, please reply with any information you deem appropriate.

Feel free to suggest more links for these lists. If I can still access the forums as of then, I will consider adding them.

I didn't even get the New Terms of Service popup entirely even on 3.0 pages. That's weird.

Depending on the age you provided to Scratch, it may say “Parental Permission Required” instead.

I have also not been prompted on scratchr2/s2forums (2.0-style) pages. It wouldn't really work given that 2.0-style and scratch-www pages are built on completely incompatible frameworks. I also don't see why anybody would find the prompts not appearing problematic.

The thing is, you're still able to access the site, comment, report users, post in the forums, and change your profile information without acknowledging the prompts. Since the terms cover these actions, it would probably be best for Scratch to either add the pop-up to 2.0 pages, or update the 2.0 pages to 3.0.

Also, the inaccessibility of the “Contact Us” page is almost certainly a bug.

Not really best for users though. Although the prompt can also be easily disabled with simple CSS

Accessing those pages is still an acknowledgement of the terms, though. It would be good to inform users directly that the terms still apply to 2.0 pages, to avoid confusion.
