What relevance do tags have to do with scratch

I always see people adding tags to their projects, I did too, I don't know what they do though…..

They add the project to relevant sections of the Explore page. Note that the #trending tag does almost nothing- there is no #trending category (at least on the Explore page).

There are also a very large number of other tag categories, however there is no location for them on the Explore page. They do exist, though.

Adding unrelated tags, lots of tags (often achieved via copy & paste) and in general just spamming them is against the rules and is reportable.

The devs really need to update the scratch-gui repo- I'm getting at least 19 “npm warn deprecated” warnings whenever I try to install its dependencies, and yes, I'm using the latest version of node.js and npm. Then again, the dev page on this website and the wiki in the repo still refer to Scratch 3.0 in beta, and link the current website as an example of 2.0.

Tags are used to get a project to be more popular.
For example, if the project was a game, you would use the #games tag, because the project is a game.
However, most people tag spam to try and exponentially get a projects view count to be higher, which is not allowed since the projects not relevant to that tag.

But then I had a very good idea. I used F5. See, using F5 gave me a whole new perspective and I was able to see a chest I couldn't have seen before.
Everytime I see the number 2024, I think its 2014 for a millisecond but then realize its 2024.
