Yes a higher character limit! And this too.
Also, “What I'm Working On” is barely used for it's intended purposes, I even saw “Extended about me:” typed in the top of that section before.

I think this is a great idea. LIke for example they don't want share “What I'm Working On” but they want to share “About Me” It would be a great way for scratchers to pick and choose what they want to share and what they don't. The character limit is very little on scratch, but if they merge it the About me“ or the ”What I'm Working On" could be double if they decide to share about one

When you partition or merge the sections after writing things inside them, is your text deleted or merged/partitioned?


The idea of a description, however, sounds like it is for writing all about one's hobbies, personality, nicknames, and more. This completely erases the purpose of the “What I'm Working On” section. A merge of two important things - getting to know one another, and learning about someone's programs - should have their original meanings kept, but combined.

I think that things should only be merged if they are similar enough to be combined and still keep the original meaning. An A.M. and W.I.W.O are not quite similar, but I can understand why you'd want to merge them. It might look better that way, rather than having to scroll, and besides, people don't always scroll, especially if it doesn't look like there's any more text.

But why? Can’t they not continue in the What’s I’m Working On if the About Me has no more characters?

That’s not true - the current system is still used efficiently by many.

I could see this being similar to how the Instructions and Notes and Credits of a project work. Currently, if you have no Notes and Credits, then only the Instructions will appear, and vice versa. Both categories will only appear if you put something in both categories.

The slight issue with this idea is that, if a similar feature was implemented into the profile information, then I would expect the character limit to be the same: only 200 characters for the About Me, even if you have no characters in the What I'm Working On.

In general I do like the fact that there are two categories, so I would prefer not for them to be merged to a general “Description.”

You'd still be able to split it again if you didn't want the description.

Support, but maybe you could change the title of the text field instead of simply having it say “description”.

Maybe with a drop-down, multiple options- to prevent inappropriate titles (or if it's fully customisable, a new report option)
But if the drop-down (more likely as the ST would have less reports to deal with, as Opposed to a textbox which could have inappropriate messages or links), Then

Would not work, it would need to be in account settings.

How exactly would that work? The names are kept, but it becomes one textbox? Where would the names go?

With the current textboxes, It doesn't make you scroll if there's no text, it would just… Not scroll past the text's end, like it does now.
