SO, to sum up the current situation, @-expo is inactive, and will be gone indefinitely. The other candidates (correct me if I am wrong) are myself (@mathboss12) and @Bandit_MVR_2023.
The question of who exactly will be our next host is still a valid one.

Why exactly can't we vote? I feel like we'll never get a new host like this

More notes on the state of the discussion:
The host will be permanent, and if any rotation does happen it will be yearly.
There will be a line of succession (host, “vice-host”, etc.) in the case of the host going inactive.

While I’m all for ‘letting God decide’ between the final two or three candidates, we have to look at this logically. Most churches (not that this is a church lol) “elect” their pastors by a committee, not by popular vote. I believe that this would be a viable solution to simply waiting in a stalemate for a divine revelation. Either (1) the entire body of managers (who are not running for host) will vote, or (2) a special caucus of the more experienced managers, like amethyst_queen and jonathan, could make the decision.

The only added responsibilities the new host will have are surrounding the studio description and the comment section. This means really the only requirement of the new host is that they are active and willing to do updates weekly.

Even if it's yearly, I still would like to do rotating hosts. I know it probably isn't up to me since I'm Not a manager lol. But I was thinking, what if the person who gets chosen to be host were to actually not be a good host or they'd become a worse host over time? I don't want 10 years of CHQ to go downhill because someone who shouldn't be host for long was permanently chosen as host.
(I'm not at all saying this will happen, I just thought I'd bring this up (~ ̄▽ ̄)~)

I would say having managers vote is a good idea but half of them are inactive. We had a vote cast for a decision and only 5 responded. I think if we do have a vote between managers we should definitely see what the experienced managers think

Why is this in the Collaboration topic? Couldn't you put this in a topic nobody cares about like project and save codes or show and tell?

Because it’s not one of those things, it’s a collaboration of our studio to solve our host issue.

It still might fall short of a collab after all scratch's definition of a collab is “Join with others to work together on Scratch projects!” so even if you consider this a scratch *comma* project, the piece still doesn't fit perfectly. Some people put issues in Advanced Topics since issues with studios or projects can fall under “technical aspects” or even show and tell would relate to the studio so there are options.

Does it break community guidelines to put this in a category that doesn’t apply to it? (This is a genuine question since I am curious)

Not sure, but it probably doesn't and even if does i doubt anything would happen ever.

Then it's probably not bad to keep this in the category it's in (Genuine)

So will the host become studio leader once they're chosen, or will they just change studio description and stuff but still be on the same level as other managers?

I think they become host
But I'm still confused on how it's gonna be decided

Yeah me too. We need an actual way to decide besides “last man standing” because this isn't working. I think managers should vote or something
