I'm bored, so here's a fictional walk-through for my take on Chapter 3's secret boss:

After the battle with Mike (it doesn't matter if you spare or fight), return to the original patch of flowers you saw earlier in the area. Talk to Mike and he will remark about Kris actually listening when he told them he'd “be around if they needed him.” After talking to him, he'll ask Kris if they'd help him with something. He will state that the flower fields he used to call home are being destroyed by Tenna's anti-weed spray, and ask if Kris would go and shut off the supply. Agree to his proposition and, for now, you may continue through the chapter as usual. Note that this may be done at any point in the chapter, so you can go back after reaching the Studio. After the third required fight with the Shadow Men in the Studio, return to the staircase at the start of the Studio, which will now be opened. Go down there and you will be in Tenna's factory. Sneak around the area and take care not to get caught by the Shadow Men, as doing so will send you back out. After you've sneaked through, go to each of the tanks and solve the puzzles to empty them. Once you have done this, return to Mike and tell him about your success. He will thank you, and state that he's going home before going into the ground and disappearing. You are now free to continue to the end of the Studio to the Tenna fight, which will be replaced by the secret boss fight.

i've recently tried poking around in the code of Deltarune using Undertale Mod Tool and it's. bizarre. every time you interact with an object it runs through a 2000-line if statement that checks for every room with an interactable object and then for your position within that room in order to decide what text to display
