Hogwarts Roleplay is in need of more students (or ghosts if you prefer) and especially professors. It's a serious-type RP, so you learn your spells from your professors (or potions) before you use them, you must learn everything before using it, you also can follow the main story or have your own side story to learn spells, make friends and more.
There is also a currency system now, so you can go find all of the current shops right here.
Here is more information:CLASSROOM SYSTEM
Professors make a new thread which is a classroom thread which students can participate in. These students need to join the class session for their homework (homework system below) which then allows them to learn spells or potions officially. The classroom thread is complete, classes can be recreated with study groups where the professor redoes the lesson and allows you to get homework to unlock the spell.
However, that is not the only way to learn. Some professors might make a project where you can request a lesson and they keep track of your grades.PREFECT SYSTEM
Students that don't have a record of being bad students and have pretty good grades can sign up to become a prefect. There may only be 2 prefects per house. A prefect's job is to make sure that students are following the rules and are not sneaking around at Hogwarts. They can take turns patrolling at night to ensure that no students are sneaking out, making an attempt to break the rules. They are allowed to issue out detentions to rule breakers and whatnot. They help professors and the caretaker take care of Hogwarts and protect it from troublemakers.
Prefects can even take away house points… only from members of their own house. So let's say a Gryffindor is breaking the rules, and a Slytherin catches them, the Slytherin cannot take away points from Gryffindor. However if the Slytherin catches another Slytherin, the prefect can remove points from Slytherin.DETENTION SYSTEM
So you have done something bad and have been caught by your professor, prefect, or another adult who works at Hogwarts which they can then make you do a punishment which you can finish and come off with a warning, do note that doing horrible things like unforgivable curses will bring much worse than a mere detention, though Azkaban is still work in progress.
Do note that you can try to escape detention, but your stats,spells and whatnot will be needed. So that means you need a stat check and whatnot and need to actually find a way to escape.RACE SYSTEM
Races are what really separate students, even more so than abilities! Each race is unique in its own right and grants each student with a set of abilities and conditions, however, you're limited to the amount of abilities you can choose when you choose a race, as your race already grants you a decent amount of abilities.Dhampir - A Dhampir is known as a partial vampire. The human part is what grants a Dhampir their magic. Dhampirs have numerous notable properties and abilities with them. Physically speaking, a Dhampir appears to be unnaturally pale and they are incredibly sensitive to light. Getting sunburnt after only a single hour being exposed to the sun. Dhampirs have normal human teeth with a few gaps which are retractable fangs. Dhampirs usually have red or gray eyes. Dhampirs are attracted human blood, however, they do not need blood. Dhampirs will be in trouble for consuming any blood from students as they can live off of normal food. However, exposed human blood gives them a strong urge to consume said blood, making it hard for them to resist, resulting in a wisdom check. Difficulty Check is 30.
Light Sensitivity - When near a light spell or in sunlight, your accuracy and evasion is decreased by 5%.
Fangs - Dhampirs have the ability to bite into their opponent (it is popular belief that partial and full vampires need to bite the neck, but this is actually not the case) and regain health while dealing damage from it. They regain 5% of their maximum health and they deal 50 + (strength) * 10 damage.
Claws - Dhampirs have sharpened fingernails. They can easily regenerate and grow back. They deal 60 + (Strength) * 7 damage.
Magically Incapable - You have a higher chance to hit a critical failure, as Dhampirs aren't the best with magic. Additionally, you get 5% less accuracy and 10% less Arcane Strength when casting a spell.
Intimidation - Dhampirs are naturally intimidating, thus they have the Intimidation trait.
Heightened Smell - Dhampirs naturally have Enhanced Smell.
Blood Resurrection - Dhampirs can revive people with their blood and turn said human into a Dhampir as well.Part-Veela - A Part-Veela is a partial human with some Veela properties. Veelas have their own kind of magic and most of them usually end up being females, though there are male cases of Veelas as well. They have stunning beauty, magically enchanting. Literally.
Enchantingly Beautiful - Part-Veelas are stunning to look at, more pretty than those with the Incredible Beauty ability. There is a 10% chance for each round in a combat situation that you'll randomly attempt to protect them, like trying to take a hit for them as an example. Their opponents suffer -15% strength and accuracy.
Horrifying Scream - Your scream is disorienting and slightly damaging even. Your opponents suffer -5% evasion. Your scream deals 50 + (Arcane Strength) * 5 damage.
Charm - A Part-Veela is so charming that they are capable of controlling other people into their bidding. However, this will count as an Unforgivable Curse, specifically Imperio. A wisdom check will be done, the user in question gets a 100% wisdom buff.
Comprehend Languages - You automatically have the Comprehending Languages ability, specifically, the Veela variant.Half-Werewolf - A Half-Werewolf is a human who has been bitten and infected by a Werewolf or Half-Werewolf; consequently, the human themselves become a Half-Werewolf. In Werewolf form, they take on the appearance of a wolf with a small snout, human-like eyes, they have a notable tail and ears. In human form, the darker an area or room gets, the more sickly the human in question appears. They will then start to adopt wolf-like features such as tails or ears. Wolfsbane allows a Wolf to keep their humanity and a level of control of themselves.
Werewolf form - This is a transformation where you take on a wolf-like appearance. You gain special abilities upon this form activating. However, you lose your sense of control, you attack and fight any humans that happens to be in your way, you gain +2 points to each individual stat upon transformation.
Claws - You have sharpened nails in this state which deal 50 + (strength) * 8.
Bite - With your sharpened teeth in this state. You can attack people, however, depending on the intention of the attack, they may pass the infection which gradually turns a human into a half-werewolf.
Enhanced Smell - You naturally have Enhanced Smell.
Intimidation - You naturally have Intimidation.
Regeneration - Werewolves naturally have the ability to regenerate from both physical and magical damage. (Arcane Strength) * 10.
Human Form - As a human, you naturally have the Intimidation ability.Metamorphagus - A Metamorphagus is a rare case in which a Magical child is born with a unique ability to change their appearance. Metamorphaguses tend to be more skilled with Transfiguration-based spells. They usually appear as human beings for the most part; however, you may see some Metamorphaguses have animal-like features such as but not limited to: puppy ears, a break in place for a mouth, a cat tail, etc… Sometimes abnormal hair color also may be an indicator that somebody is a Metamorphagus, though that could just be colored hair dye, color-changing potion, or color-changing spell. They can gradually improve their abilities as a Metamorphagus by “exercising” their abilities.
LEVEL 1
Minor Self-Transfiguration - They can change small bits of themselves, like the color of their hair, maybe with enough focus, give them one animalistic feature. While they can give themselves sharp teeth or claws, it does not improve their fighting capabilities.
Advanced Transfiguration - The Difficulty Check for Transfiguration-Focused spells are decreased by -3.
LEVEL 2
Shape-Shifting - Depending on your knowledge on the person, you can steal their appearance completely. You can also transfigure yourself in general to a much greater extent.
Height Increase/Decrese - You can make yourself 3 centimeters taller or shorter.
LEVEL 3
Height Increase/Decrease - You can make yourself 15 centimeters (half a foot) taller or shorter.
Natural Stealth - As you're good at Transfiguration, you naturally have the Hiding in the Shadows ability.
LEVEL 4
Height Increase/Decrease - You can make yourself 30 centimeters (One foot) taller or shorter.
Mastery of Self-Transfiguration - You're mostly free to control how you look at this point.Parselmouth - Somebody who is able to speak the language of the serpents, effectively allowing them to communicate with snakes.
Parselmouth Speaking Capabilities - You can naturally understand serpents and speak their language as well.
The Chamber of Secrets - You are able to open up the Chamber of Secrets.
The Serpent - You have a serpentine friend, they spy for you and relay information for you. They can also use other actions (See Best Friend ability, yet to be updated as of right now.)
I know you, you know me - In a combat situation in which a serpent is against you, you can actually communicate with the serpent and in a wisdom check, calm it down or control it.Part-Giant - A Part-Giant is a human with supernatural size and strength. They are still able to maintain human intelligence. They are literally 8-12 ft tall, it'd be an impressive feat not to notice them.
Magically Incapable - You have a higher chance to hit a critical failure (+1 to Difficulty Checks), as Part-Giants aren't the best with magic. Additionally, you get 5% less accuracy and 10% less Arcane Strength when casting a spell.
Immense Strength - Your strength stat is always increased by 25%, your physical strength multiplier is increased by 3.
Durable - You take 10% less damage from both physical and magical spells.
Extra Choices:
> Locked Doors/Chests - Ah, typical chests and doors. Whether they are locked the Muggle way or the Magical way, it doesn't matter as you can have a strength check with the chest/door to break it open.
> Scary Strength Usage - You can break bones.
>>> Legs -15% agility per leg.
>>> Arms - 15% accuracy per arm.
>>> Hands - Constant 10% chance to drop your wand along with an additional -10% accuracy per hand.
>>> Feet - Constant 10% chance to trip and fall. -10% agility per foot.
Rage - You are insane, you had something anger you to an intense degree, buffing all of your stats by 15% except for agility and strength. You also physically cannot be held back by Spells.
Language Comprehension - You naturally understand and speak the language that Giants speak.Part-Goblin - Part-Goblins are small humanoid figures with goblin-like features while maintaining enough human features that it is clear enough that they aren't fully goblins. By adulthood, they tend to be around 4 ft tall, they also have pointy ears and long fingers, notable goblin-like features.
Getting Money every day - You have a special fun in which you get 7 sickles every single day.
Gobbledegook - You have the natural Language Comprehension for the Goblin language.
Wandless Magic - You naturally have Wandless Magic.
Gold - You can tell the difference between Galleons and Leprechaun-created Galleons.
Craftsmanship - You're capable of creating normal artifacts (not enchanted) like silver crowns and other pieces.Seer - A seer is a rare ability that appears in a Magical child. They are the pinnacle of Divination.
Knowledgeable in Combat - You seem to have future knowledge about how your opponent will strike you, giving a 10% chance to automatically dodge.
Foresight - You can see into the future. You can see upcoming events and other various things of the sort. You have a 50% chance of seeing a messed up action of some kind or see whatever happens to somebody in the future, so when it comes down to rolling, they land a critical success guaranteed.
Save me the Shame - You cannot land a critical failure AT ALL.ABILITIES SYSTEM
Abilities can vary from person to person, an ability is what makes each wizard and witch alike unique from each other outside of just being able to cast spells. Abilities can be both a physical and/or mental advantage, maybe they just increase your magical capabilities, they can also help affect how others could potentially feel about you. You can slowly ‘train’ for other abilities as well, you just slowly have to gradually work for them and make sure that I am aware of such.
Enhanced Eyesight: You have incredible eyes, they seem to miss nothing, Inside of a roleplay, your character is capable of seeing even the smallest of face changes and in expression. In a combat situation, this ability becomes useful as you're able to read your opponents better, you can read their movements easier and see how they'll try and dodge. 10% buff to accuracy and agility.
Enhanced Hearing: You have good hearing, you're able to hear all kinds of things, even from a good distance. If you're close enough, you can pick up on whispers and other things. In combat, you can hear attacks coming before they even appear, allowing you to dodge faster. 15% additional agility.
Enhanced Smell: You have a good sense of smell, you essentially nullify anybody's ability to sneak around you unless they use a potion or a spell of some kind.
Defensive Power: You are better with your defensive spells opposed to your offensive spells. Defense is simply your style. 15% stat buff for your arcane power when it comes to defense spells.
Offensive Power: You are better with your offensive spells opposed to your defensive spells. Offense is simply your style. 15% stat buff for your arcane power when it comes to offense spells.
Potion Resistance: You have special resistance to potions, potions classified as weak or medium in terms of intensity and effectiveness will fail to work on you. High intensity potions are 25% less effective and extreme potions sadly can't be resisted at all.
Potion Mastery: You just love to brew up potions, you studied the way they are. How many ingredients to put in, how much time to stir the potion with how much intensity. Your potions are 25% more efficient.
Herbology Lover: The plants that you grow gain an additional 25% to all stats.
Spell-Casting: You can cast spells easily, you are more likely to cast an advanced spell first in your class in comparison to your fellow classmates.-5 for the Difficulty Check in spells that you can't instantly cast, additionally, if your Wisdom is higher than the Difficulty Check required for a spell, it is impossible to land a Critical Failure.
Non-Verbal Magic: You don't need to speak to cast a spell - literally! You can cast spells without speaking which creates the element of surprise for your opponent, however, spells do become harder to cast while in this state, you're more likely to land a Critical failure. +3 added to the Difficult Check, landing a 1-3 is considered a critical failure, however, your opponent gets -10% agility whenever you're casting a spell non-verbally.
Wandless Magic: You need Non-Verbal Magic to have access to this ability. You're able to use magic without your wand, you're on a whole new level of advanced magic. Additionally, you always have that surprise element due to using magic without a wand, since that is fairly unheard of. +7 is added to the Difficulty check. Landing a 1-5 is considered a critical failure, your opponent get -15% agility whenever you're casting a spell without a wand.
Teamwork: You're a good teammate, others seem to do extra well when working with you. When working with allies, they get a 7% stat buff to all stats.
A Good Workout Goes a Long Way: You must work out a good bit, because you're a bit more stronger than others. You get a 15% strength buff.
Annoyingly Quick: You are good at running, walking, you're just faster than most. You get a 15% speed buff.
Some Good 'Ol Wisdom: You definitely read a good bit of books at some point in your lifetime, as you have a good amount of intelligence. You get a 15% wisdom buff.
My Power Comes From Magic: You are definitely good with magic as your attacks are more than capable of packing a punch. You get a 15% arcane strength buff.
Hiding in the Shadows: Who knows how you have been practicing, but you're extra sneaky, making you harder to notice. You get a 15% stealth buff.
Intimidation: Something about you is unnerving, it creates a sense of fear for your opponents, debuffing their accuracy by 15% and their strength by 5%.
Magical Beast Lover: Magical Beasts are just attached to you and are less likely to attack you which is odd. A Wisdom check will be done on hostile magical Beasts if you have this ability.
Stat Nerd: You just… uh… yeah, you are just good with stats… I guess? 10% buff to two stats of your choosing whenever you enter a combat situation.
Martial Arts: You're capable of fighting with your hands (you can technically do this without this ability, but those with this ability can do it better, there are some moves that require this ability.), you are given access to a few moves that can further boost yourself in combat.
Chop - You send a single hit to your opponent in a horizontal swinging motion. +3 accuracy when using this move, the damage multiplier increases from 5 to 7. The base damage for this move is 45 damage. (You can use this move without this ability, but you do not get the additional accuracy and your damage multiplier remains the same. You also don't get that extra base damage bonus.)
Grapple - Best used in a one versus one scenario, as in this case, you're attempting to pin down an opponent. You have a new evasion of 0 without any dice rolling, making it impossible for you to dodge attacks. Your opponent if successfully pinned down also gets an evasion of 0. There will be a strength check each round. (You are completely unable to use this move without this ability.)
Grapple Punch - A guaranteed hit if your opponent is pinned underneath you. You have a 7x damage multiplier instead of a 5x damage multiplier. The base damage for this move is 70 damage. (Assuming you don't have the Martial Artist ability, then you are unable to use this move. If you are a martial artist, then you can only use this move once you catch someone in a grapple. An extra note for martial artist's is that if they have their opponent in a grapple, this is the only move they can use.)
Kick - A powerful kick sent towards your opponent, destined to deal a good amount of damage. -2 accuracy, in the event that this lands, you get a 10x damage multiplier instead of a 5x damage multiplier, and the base damage is 100. (If you do not have the Martial Arts ability, you do not suffer the accuracy debuff when using this move. However, you also don't get the damage multiplier and base damage bonus either.)
Incredible Beauty - You have a special type of beauty, when you're beautiful, your opponents are more likely to put less strength into their attacks. -15% strength, -5% accuracy to the opponent.
Focused: You have no fear, you have no mental distractions, you are just in the zone at all times. This ability counters mental-type of abilities and some mental-based potions and spells. This ability counters Incredible Beauty and Intimidation.
Minor Foresight: You are able to somewhat see into the future, to a certain extent. I will message you on your profile or chatroom project about whatever you see into the future whenever it happens.
Language Comprehension:You've been studying languages - a lot. You have a better comprehension of how people speak in different languages. You can only select one variant of this ability unless you choose to pick this ability multiple times, here are the following variants.
Gobbledegook - You can speak what goblins speak.
Mermish - You can effectively communicate with merpeople under water.
Giant - You can speak the language that the Giants speak.
Trolls - You speak the language of the trolls, you communicate with them by grunting.
Veela - You can speak the language of Veelas.
Parselmouth: You can communicate with serpents.
Never Lose:When your health or stamina goes below 0, both your health and stamina regain 25% of themselves back, even surpassing the cap if such happens.
Perfectionist: You go out of your way to make sure that you never mess up, you are too critical of your mistakes and you do something about those mistakes. Unless your range to critically fail goes down by 1 and your range to critically succeed increases by 1.
Your Best Friend: You MUST have a pet, anybody with a pet naturally has this ability. Your pets can assist you in battle!

EVASION - The same as the owner's evasion.

Runs around creating a distraction for your opponent, taking their accuracy and evasion down by 1 each turn.

STRENGTH - Same as Owner.
EVASION - Owner's evasion - 3 (If it reaches 0 or below, it automatically sets to 2.)

Unleashes claw attacks.OWL SYSTEM
So basically if you want to send a literal owl to someone, then you click on their profile.
“((OWL))” This is what you type so that the person knows that you're sending them an owl. After you type that, you just type the roleplay message and done. You have successfully sent an owl. If you want to send a necklace or something like that, you can do this.

The homework system is basically what you need to learn spells(or potions), your professor goes on your profile and gives you questions to answer and then gives you a grade, if it gets a passing grade, then you learn the spell(or potion) and can use it in the roleplay.ENCOUNTER SYSTEM
While you roleplay, if you roleplay enough or enter a specific area you may come across special mini-events called encounters. These encounters are basically special enemies and whatnot that you can defeat or run from. This is typically made for entertainment purposes, but you can also learn new spells as well and whatnot. It's important to note that all enemies have previously made stats, so I am not just pulling numbers from out of nowhere. Secondary note: these encounters do use your stats, so it's completely random(for the most part) and adds to the experience. You can also comment on bluesummer45's profile and ask him and he may be able to give you an encounter. ((SPELLS ARE TYPICALLY RECOMMENDED FOR MOST ENCOUNTERS)).STAT CHECKS

The second player is accurate enough to hit the first player.Wisdom vs. Difficulty check - all spells have a certain difficulty, so your wisdom determines your ability to cast said spells.

Player Health - Final Arcane Strength = New Player HealthAccuracy vs. Stealth - Determines the ability to remain hidden or to catch someone trying to be stealthy.

Player Stealth + Dice20 = Final Player Stealth

Player 1 is able to catch player 2
Else

O - Outstanding: Nearly perfect score or perfect score.
E - Exceeds Expectations: A good score that is impressive.
A - Acceptable - A passing score.
P - Poor: A poor score.
D - Dreadful: Nearly a 0 or is a 0.SPELL SYSTEM
You must first learn a spell to use it, you can use spells for environments, classes, and more! You must get an A or above in your homework to learn the spell, this will be moderated. It is also noted to use spells, even if you learned them, you need to have enough stamina, and enough wisdom to cast the spell.DUELING SYSTEM
To duel, you must have a couple of spells, but your stats also determine how well you duel, if you cast spells, if you are able to dodge and whatnot.Stamina
Stamina determines how much health you have
The formula for Health is (PLAYER HEALTH) * 100 (e.g Stamina = 5 * 100 = 500)Evasion
This determines your ability to dodge spells or whatever comes your way. Evasion can be nerfed or buffed depending on the spells used in specific situations, potions may boost or nerf your evasion stats as well.
Formula is (PLAYER EVASION) + d20Strength
Strength is used in dueling as a way to see if you're able to break out of the effects of spells.
Formula: (PLAYER STRENGTH) + d20 * 5Wisdom
Each spell has ‘wisdom points’ which determine the chances of you casting a spell, You roll a D20 and add your wisdom and if the result is greater than the spell's wisdom then you cast the spell successfully, otherwise you fail to cast the spell.
Formula is (PLAYER WISDOM) + d20Arcane Strength
This determines how much damage your spells can do.
Formula is (PLAYER ARCANE STRENGTH) + d20 * 10Stealth

Your strength determines how hard you hit a bludger, or easily you can steal a Quaffle and other actions.Wisdom
Wisdom determines your ability to perform specific strategies.Arcane Strength
This determines how much damage your spells can do. Do be warned that doing this in a Quidditch match is considered cheating and will cause you to run a lap around the pitch which is worth 1 round.Stealth
Stealth is used to determine if you are able to cheat or perform specific actions and techniques.
Formula is (PLAYER STEALTH) + d20CLUB SYSTEM
Clubs are now being introduced into Hogwarts, want to make a club all about spell-casting? Go for it. Quidditch? That's allowed too. Overthrowing the Minister of Magic? Maybe that's stretching it, either way, if you're interested in making your own clubs then you can fill out a form and post it in the Hogwarts Roleplay studio. Each club gets their own room for club meetings and whatnot. If you want people to sign up for your club, make a roleplay that goes something along the lines of:
“((Sign up for {club})) Random name was sitting in his club hoping other people would swing by soon and join.”

Club description: Meant to be a one-student club for Jacob, but he'll let people in. The club room has lots of books, its constantly clean, looks like Jacob takes good care of it. There is a poster of magical beasts to the right of the room, there is a banner of the club, handmade by Jacob. It's a pretty plain space, but a peaceful space.Club name: The Repair Club.

Club's purpose: Try to improve hogwarts and also try to make everyone feel welcome and included

D20s are rolled virtually by me, as I don't actually own a dice20 in real life. I am the only moderator handling the combat system, so I basically do all the dice rolling and whatnot.
