hi hello as previously established i go by wander and i'm an artist and musician who also enjoys roleplaying here on scratch :] i play flute, piccolo, violin, and guitar and hope to learn oboe someday too! alongside music, marine biology is a huge passion of mine, and i enjoy drawing and crocheting as well. though not a huge fan of the canon warrior cats books (i've read them all except the newest arc) i do enjoy roleplaying and creating ocs/aus based on the books, being currently most invested in a private au with a friend offsite and of course ewcrp! while i often do join other roleplays, i've been in elements the longest and am most consistently active there - even if i don't do any roleplaying, i almost always have it open as a tab and tend to lurk there. applying for litters is one of my favorite parts of roleplaying, and i'm super excited for vegakit and the rest of this litter!

⇨ Final Gender & Sexuality
being assigned intersex at birth, vegakit will definitely face a bit of confusion about their identity, though they wouldn't give it much thought until around early apprenticehood. the decision to use they/it pronouns will come quite easily to vega, as they aren't one to unnecessarily overthink or worry over matters. their final sexuality will be asexual and their romantic orientation will be unlabled - if they find a cat they like that's fine and dandy, and they'd rather not confine themselves to a label

⇨ How long you’ll keep them
though i can't make any promises, i plan on keeping vega for as long as possible - until elder age preferably, and over 40 moons for sure. if i ever do lose connection to them then i will try to find them another roleplayer rather than just kiIIing them off. once their time comes to d1e of old age or potentially some other reason (though this still won't happen until they're pretty old) i'd likely turn them into a proper oc, as even just with these ideas i have for them i like their concept a lot and would love to continue fleshing them out even once their in-roleplay days are over.

⇨ Roleplaying Experience
for most of my life i've loved writing stories in my head and playing pretend with irl friends, but i officially got into roleplaying almost 3 years ago now, which started out as storylike roleplays on google docs with friends from school when we were on covid lockdown. around or a little after that time i also entered my first “official” warrior-cats centered rp, again with a group of friends but this time more extended and with people i had met online. i joined scratch in late 2021, and soon after joined a few miscellaneous roleplays, most of which didn't last long however. eventually (around last spring) i decided to join elements and have been here ever since, among other roleplays that didn't always last long. i likewise have a tfcrp character (a kittypet named symphony), but am often overwhelmed by the size of that roleplay and end up always coming back to ewcrp. my very first character here was wildkit (who is now wildspirit), and my past characters were thunderwhistle, tupelo, and acornflare, all of which were deleted because i wasn't very connected to them and felt like they were going nowhere. i also briefely had cranesbillkit, who was won from a litter but then passed on to another roleplayer due to lack of connection + to free up character slots. currently my characters are wildspirit and haventrill of lc, asteroidpaw and eclipsepaw of rc, and tempest the rogue

⇨ Kit Personality
one's first impression of vega is that they are a withdrawn young cat, silently watching the world through wide, solemn blue eyes - and while they are rather quiet, vega is actually quite a friendly and sociable individual, always making sure to greet you and ask about your day. they make it a point to treat everyone with decency, no matter how rude or difficult the other cat may be. ever compassionate, vega is always there to lend a listening ear and sympathetic remark no matter the time of day, and you can be certain that anything you tell them stays only with them. though polite and well-mannered to everyone, they care especially deeply about those close to them, and often let them know that through little things - gifts, acts of service, and even physical affection all on a small scale.

vega is a very laid-back soul, always keeping a cool head and committed to not wasting any time worrying about things or overcomplicating them. they always make sure to appreciate the little things in life and don't see the point of getting yourself all worked up - they just prefer to go wherever life takes them and take some time to smell the flowers. though not a fan of concerning themselves with philosophical questions, vega is something of a dreamer and tends to spend much of their alone time lost in a blissful reverie - and not just their alone time, either. vega's daydreaming tendencies contribute (or perhaps are a product of) their absentmindedness. though they might have all their denmates' favorite plants or prey items memorized, vega is rather featherbrained when it comes to most other things, like remembering where they left that cool rock or that they have to groom their fur. as endearing as this trait might seem in kithood, it will definitely become an issue as they mature and take on more responsibilities.

vega does tend to be stubborn and impulsive as well - their “go with the flow” mindset doesn't have any rules against “go off and investigate that interesting smell”, after all, and once they have a notion in their head it's no easy task talking vega out of it. though confident in themselves and their decisions - not necessarily a bad trait to have - that also leaks into being absolutely certain of something once they've made their mind up, and no amount of reasoning, however logical, will be able to talk them out of it. paired with their strong sense of curiosity, this is a surefire recipe for mischief once they're old enough to be out and about. in their effort to be the best person they can, vega can often come off as a little pushy, being unable to take no for an answer even if doing so would be better for the other person. if someone they care about is feeling down, vega's response is often “let me help you”, even if that isn't what the other cat needs at the moment. despite their good intentions, vega often tends to overstep or ignore others' boundaries in situations like these, and this trying too hard often makes the situation worse. though they usually come around and realize how hurtful their behavior was, whatever damage they may have done was still done, and this is perhaps the biggest flaw of theirs they struggle with.

although their eagerness to help does sometimes hurt others, in their heart of hearts vega really does mean well, and seeing those they love happy is all they need to make themselves happy. it's a wonderful life, and they're going to make sure they enjoy it to the fullest.

under an incredibly thick layer of ice, jupiter's moon europa has oceans estimated to be 40-100 miles deep, which i've always found to be very intriguing

⇨ Trivia (and research)
research for osteochondrodysplasia/folded ears: osteochondrodysplasia is a condition that affects the formation of cartilage and is the cause of folded ears in cats. as this condition is what caused vega's folded ears, i'll be researching both that condition and the effects of the folded ears specifically.

as every cat with folded ears has osteochondrodysplasia (though with varying severity), vega will experience some of its effects as well, though it will have a mild case. aside from folded ears, this condition also impacts bone development and can lead to cartilage abnormalities, again ranging in severity from mild to severe. said abnormalities can lead to arthritis, which vega will develop mildly once they are older, starting with occasional joint pain in adulthood and it worsening - though not to an unbearable level - once they are the age of a senior warrior/elder. arthritis will cause some pain in the joints and thus a reluctance to move, so some days hunting and patrolling might be difficult. with vega's mild case, however, the pain will not affect most of their daily life, with some days being worse due to things such as the cold. their paws and back legs will be most affected. vega will for the most part take this all in stride and try their best to do what they can for the clan despite their occasional aching.

though the condition causing its folded ears has a few effects, vegapaw's hearing abilities should be normal and the same as any other cats', so they should still be able to hunt, fight, and patrol as normal.

though not specifically stated to be a scottish fold, some of my research for vega did come from that breed as the coniditions and such are still applicable to it - i hope that's okay!

✧･ﾟ trivia!

☆ vega will be rather musically inclined, often humming little tunes to themselves and occasionally expanding them into little wordless songs. you can often find them repeating the same tune to themselves over and over again, trying to get it just right.

☆ alongisde humming, some habits of vega's are pacing, tilting their head to the left when confused, walking in step to whatever tune they're humming/is stuck in their head, putting their paw up to their face when flustered/embarassed, and fidgeting with whatever they can get their paws on - it hardly ever sits completely still, even if it's just tapping its paw to a beat.

☆ they're able to fall asleep very quickly and practically anywhere - give them 2 minutes and they're out like a light no matter how uncomfortable the place and their position seems to be

☆ vega absolutely adores taking walks, and have occasional bouts of wanderlust that lead them to amble off somewhere for hours - though most of the time they know their limits and don't stray too far for the most part, however much they'd like to. wanderlust aside, it still makes it a goal to go for at least one little walk per week for the sake of clearing their head and slowing down a little, remembering to look at the little things. perhaps someday they'll be close enough with someone to invite them to join them in these special moments…..

☆ its favorite prey is squirrel, though they aren't very good at or fond of climbing so it's a bit of a rare treat for them. they're neutral to most other prey and don't really have a least favorite. it has a distinctively citrusy scent, which is prevalent even when buried under the smells of earth, river water, and whatever plants it happened to brush up against on their latest outing. they enjoy swimming (though not for too long) and though they enjoy all sorts of weather, they have a fondness for springtime weather with clouds and a breeze. vega's favorite time of day is midday leaking into early afternoon, when the world seems stiller and beckoning it on a walk.

☆ even if they do end up living in a clan, vega will often introduce and think of themselves as just plain vega - they've got nothing against clan suffixes but personally think just vega sounds nicer. it will mostly use their full name for initial introductions and formalities

☆ what with their frequent walks and joint pain sometimes getting in the way of grooming, vega has a tendency for collecting things and often getting them stuck in its fur. they will eventually have a little stash in their nest consisting of things like snail shells, acorns, and pebbles they found in the river. occasionally moss scraps and leaves cling to their fur, remaining there until they crumble away or are picked off in a grooming session (whether by vega or someone else)
