Why is Scratch 1.0 not available anymore?

I've just noticed that while Scratch 1 is still available for downloads, it's version 1.4, not 1.0. Can I have an explanation why the very original is no longer available?

It's no longer available because later versions of 1.x replaced it. At the time that it was released, you had to download an offline editor, and upload the projects from there.
You can use the wayback machine to get it now or try installing it from the Scratch Wiki if you want it now though.
