I'd like (oh boy, here we go):
`~!@#$%^&*()-_=+};:'"\|/?.>,< shift, ctrl/command, alt, tab, caps lock, num lock, scroll lock, sys key, f1-12, backspace, enter/return, insert, home, page up/down, end, delete, prt scr/sysrq, and pause/break buttons to be added as ALL of these could serve a practical purpose.
Also this:
`~!@#$%^&*()-_=+};:'"\|/?.>,< shift, ctrl/command, alt, tab, caps lock, num lock, scroll lock, sys key, f1-12, backspace, enter/return, insert, home, page up/down, end, delete, prt scr/sysrq, and pause/break buttons to be added as ALL of these could serve a practical purpose.
Also this:
Support. Also, allow drag&drop into key press blocks, i.e.when (key1) key pressed
(key (key1) pressed?)

Just to note that the characters made via pressing shift then a number varies throughout keyboards, so this may discriminate those who speak different languages.

Low-Support, someone would troll you with closing browser tab or browser window like this:
when green flag clickedor this:
say [Press CTRL+W to see a suprise!]
wait until <<key [Ctrl v] pressed?> and <key [w v] pressed?>>
this won't happen... :: grey
when green flag clicked
say [Press Alt+F4 to see a suprise!]
wait until <<key [Alt v] pressed?> and <key [F4 v] pressed?>>

2. Do not complain to me if I am necroposting. Users have the rights to necropost a suggestions topic if they think there could be more to it.
3. This topic is just about shift. Anything that affects the computer like ctrl, alt, and any of the keys that start with the letter f weren't suggested here.
4. Support. I don't see how this would affect other user's computers.

Semi-Support. See this project. I'm sure “shift” qualifies as a special key.

Partial Support,
although griffpatch's hack blocks workaround is great and all, even griffpatch was not smart enough to …
… get Scratch to tell the difference between a shift key and a ctrl key or caps lock key or most of the other special keys either.
So what we really need is a way to tell the difference between the special keys within Scratch.
If there already is a way, why then did griffpatch not place that in his project or update it with it?
Is it some sort of challenge to see who can edit a .json file well enough or something?
Or is it just really really difficult to accomplish? Does it have to be done differently for each keyboard type?
Maybe there are different ways for a PC, Mac, or Linux machine? … What is the reason?
Oh and is griffpatch more than one person? …. I just feel like maybe he is more than just one person.
All those projects and almost all (if not ALL) of them are really good.
A prodigy that started Scratching back when we were all coloring outside the lines in coloring books maybe?
Or a rich kid with a programmer father that taught him everything he knows fairly quick?
I feel like I spend sooooo much time on Scratch and still have not done the scope of projects that he and
maybe even a few other remarkable scratchers as well have made.

I am adding to a suggestion. Sorry for NPing. So, support.
<key [shift v] pressed?>Found a workaround (simple) for it, but it makes this:
when [shift v] key pressed
undefined (join [(key here)] []From this:
<key [(key here) v] pressed?>

Quite sure this is the oldest duplicate.I forgot, but I've seen so many duplicates. I think I is all keys on keyboard but I have no time to find it.From where? Duplicate
Anyhow, a poster from a younger duplicate pointed out that it would be best to have it in an extension because extensions have blocks that require additional hardware (not all keyboards have the f1-f12 keys, for example, and Macs have a different name for enter and backspace and use a different key for control):
<key [space v] pressed?> // original sensing block with the current items keptI'm using the grey colour rather than pink for the extension block for multiple reasons: one, it has been changed to pen green; two, if/when the Scratchblocks plugin updates to 3.0, the colour will automatically update.
<key [shift v] pressed?::extension> // contains keys such as control, enter, and f1
