Gimp > MS Paint
PS > MS Paint
MS Paint is an outdated program perfect if you want to create or edit images quick and easily without the fuss of buying or installing a better in every way paid or free program such as Paint.NET, Paintshop, Photoshop or the almighty GIMP.

UmmmmGimp > MS PaintIt's simple, straightforward, nice-looking, and gets the job done. I wouldn't call it outdated just because there are other programs with more features

I definitely agree the old MS Paint is better than the one they started shipping with Windows 7 (or was it vista), with antialiasing. However all the tools I mentioned can turn the AA off, to give the old school look. In P.NET, just click the jagged edge button on the toolbar. On Gimp use the pencil tool instead of the Paint tool.

However all the tools I mentioned can turn the AA off, to give the old school look. In P.NET, just click the jagged edge button on the toolbar. On Gimp use the pencil tool instead of the Paint tool. While the rough-edged pixel effect can be achieved in all the other program, it all boils down to the usage. As someone put it best before, using a feature-rich program like Photoshop or GIMP for pixel art is like using a machine gun to kill a fly - in other words it's doable, just so heavy-handed that it's not really all that practical to use.
Now with that being said, let's all take the time out to have a look at a weird six-legged Jirai Gumo spider. Made in MS Paint, of course.
