Another question, how do you get the Scratch letters when they aren't even on the thing?

What do you mean by “Scratch letters”? The Scratch logo? Also what's “the thing”?

Yes the Scratch letters are the Scratch logo apparantley there is a font for it and the thing is all the available fonts you can use to type in the paint section of the sprites and background

The font for the Scratch logo is derived from the font Black Boys on Mopeds.

I think these costumes look very similar to the scratch logo font.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say, but if you're asking how to get the font from the Scratch logo into the Scratch editor, I may have a solution.
When you pick a costume for a sprite, go under the “letters” section (should be the farthest on the right) and scroll down a bit. The letters titled “glow-x” or something of that nature with the letter name after it are the same font used in the Scratch logo. Once you bring them into the editor you can recolor them to orange and white if you want them in the same color palette.

Pretty sure they used to be a thing back in those good ol' 2.0 days, but ST removed them due to legal reasons
