In order to figure out how many projects exist so far, just create a new project. The URL will tell you. Don't do that too often though, as that would probably be spam.

No, but there is a better way.

1. Open The officials statistics of Scratch.
2. Check the “Community statistics at a glance” part.

You should find the exact number of scratchers and the time when this is updated.

Projects made before 3.0 (I think these are 104–276660115) and not edited in 3.0 say not found

Projects that say “Not Found” either never existed or were deleted before the release of Scratch 2.0 which made permanently deleting a project impossible.
