When using the text to speech extension, saying “0.83€” makes it say “38 euro cents”

“38 cents”… 38 euro cents doesn't make sense, or am I missing something?

I typed 0.38€ on iOS Notes, and Samantha, the onboard iOS TTS voice, said “zero euros and thirty-eight cents”. So it doesn't say “euro cents”, but it does still say “euros” and “cents”. The fact that part of what iOS says is “zero euros” also seems a bit interesting, but every service has different preferences.

At least as an American, I have heard the fractional denominations of Euros described as “Euro cents,” so it's not completely unheard of. I guess the TTS extension was designed with that in mind.
