Starwish • A writing competition entry | Fan-fiction • 751 words
Abilities based off Keeper Of The Lost Cities

9pm

Whispers are calling for me, in the darkness- only for me to be deceived.
Following the path that looked less dangerous I was cautious of each and every step I took.
But wait - there was a dead end right ahead of us, with my horrible lack of surviving skills I went through the woods.

Eerie sounds make my bones shiver - the coldness was my last resort
Finding a damp blanket alongside the path I was taking the shivering slowly came to a stop.
A moment had passed…

“Do you need help?” a soft accent said above me - giving me his hand
Too cold to think I grabbed his hand and he said, “I’m Oliver - a member of the Starwish.”

My body and everything else was aching, I whispered, staring at his periwinkle pretty eyes, “I’m Ellie.”

“Nice to meet you, I’ll take you to one of our hideouts.”

Oliver supported my weakest side as we limped to one of the Starwish’s hideouts.
We were greeted by one of the leaders of the order Lloyd.

“Welcome to the hideout of the Starwish, Mira also known as Miranda will help you with your wounds.
It’s dangerous to walk in the cold crisp darkness,” Lloyd said.

Several minutes had passed and a teenaged girl in a dark black cloak arrived.

“Nowwww let’s treat those wounds, shall we?” she said.
Mira treated my wounds then offered me a sedative so I wouldn’t feel the
pain. I took the offer reluctantly as my body was aching, but I wanted to know my surroundings better.

Next day: Afternoon

The sun was against my skin, and the smell of pancakes woke me with a start.
I noticed Oliver staring at me, but he didn’t notice I was looking at him till a few minutes later.

“Ayyy you finally woke up!” he said when he noticed me.

I blushed, but tried to hide it hoping he wouldn’t see that and smirked,
“Miss me? Anyways- what time is it?”
“It’s noon,” Oliver replied back.

Groaning and tucking the covers over me I looked around and saw kids around my age,
wearing what?? Witch hats. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was looking correctly.
Yes. They were wearing witch hats.

Oliver must’ve noticed I was looking confused and he said, “You're a witch Ellie,
we have abilities like telepathy which is where your mind
can be linked to others and you can read people’s thoughts. That’s what
I have, and I’m sorry for reading your mind without your permission. You just didn’t hear me say are you ok.”

I’m a witch???? What abilities do I have??? How did they find me????

Lloyd decided to come in at the right time, and said, “Mrs. Kai it’s time to help
you manifest an ability. Also I heard that young Oliver has told you about telepathy, but
the other mentors will tell you some more about them. Anyways, I am an empath and
I can sense your emotions. Now let me introduce you to Lady Kalea.”

With that a tall woman came to stand next to Lloyd, and she introduced herself,
“Hi Ellie I know this might be overwhelming as you’ve lived amongst other
species but I will be helping you manifest and meet the other mentors.”

She held out her hand for me to reach it, and I took it.
“Now I’m a froster so why not we attempt to manifest you as a froster.”
Lady Kalea led me to a room, there was one word to describe that. HUMID.
“This is the room where you will possibly manifest as a froster. Trust your instincts
and unleash all the frost you can get. Scream if you feel overwhelmed and overheated
and I’ll come your way,” she said.

Lady Kalea walked to the other side of the room and made a forcefield of snow around her.

It’s so hot, ahhH!!!!

With my whole mind focused on cold thoughts I felt overheated and collapsed on the floor…

Next day

I awoke with a start, about five pairs of eyes were on me. Lady Kalea strode over to me and
said, “Hello young lady. I’m proud to say after you became unconscious, you unleashed snowball
after snowball tell you had a force field around you. Now I will be your mentor if you attend the academy
Wishtree Academy and the leaders of Starwish will be giving you some adoptive parents who will take
care of you, while you remain in the Starwish clan.”

Winter palace (Light-dark blue) - Sky
Lester (mint blue) - Grass
Atlantic charter (Dark blue) - forest, trees

Alderaan is known for its blue planet. Blue. Everywhere. It looks quite similar to Earth, but when you live in Alderaan everything is blue actually. The forest is blue, and Alderaan is known for their lush, dense forest as some forests are known as a natural landmark. Many blue grapevines grew in Alderaan and now they have emerald wine. Alderaan once was on the Death Star of things; but then after shattered pieces of the side lost, parts of Alderaan have joined the Republic, though some people who live in Alderaan do not stand by the Republic. Many people who stand by the Death Star, attack the Republic. The population of Alderaan is about two billion; and the majority of the population stands by the Republic as the Republic stood by them, when they were ambushed. Alderaan is also located in the Core Worlds - the planet used to belong to Killik’s, but then the humans took over Alderaan. Alderaan was one of the most peaceful planets until the war. During the war Death Star destroyed Alderaan and little parts of Alderaan now remain. During that attack the king and his wife both died. Alderaan is a mountainous world, consisting of massive hives.

Candle #1 - Dreamy Summer Nights: (+117 words)
For my first character I chose the candle ‘Dreamy Summer Nights,’ the label is in a dark forest with a purple-blue background, and fireflies. The fragrance is ‘Orange, Vanilla sugar’ so I’m going to say that my character’s name is Ahsoka. She hides in the shadows and only attacks when provoked; she likes the light, and is on the Republic side. Ahsoka is a Gray Jedi; meaning she previously was a Jedi, but left the Jedi Order due to some specific issues with the Order. Her master was Anakin SkyWalker who fled to the Dark Side. I suppose Ahsoka is a light to the darkest days, as she’s also one of the last several Jedi’s still around.

Candle #2 - Singing Carols:
For my second character I chose the candle ‘Singing Carols,’ the label shows that it’s like in the Christmas season, with a lyrics sheet for some music, and it’s also dark everest green. The fragrance is ‘Mandarin, Eucalyptus’ and my second character's name is Mandalorian or Mando for short. Since the label has a lyric sheet, I’m going to say he likes music, and he enjoys the holidays… well if there are holidays in Space. Mando is a Mandalorian, meaning he does not take off his armour, especially his helmet - but he has been seen taking off his helmet in the public eye.

Dialogue - “If you leave now you lose everything.”
“If you leave now you lose everything,” Ahsoka said when Mando finished his rant. Mando thought to himself, about what she said when he left to go on his watch. Mando thought in his head, handing Grogu to the young Jedi boy; who was also Luke Skywalker. ‘He’ll be in safe hands with the Jedi’ Mando thought. When Ahsoka walked out, for her shift of being guard, Mando reluctantly went to sleep. He dreamed of the sweet little green creature, a Jedi. In the safe hands of his new guardian…. “Yo, sleep head. Wake up!” he heard a familiar voice say. Groaning Mando realised it was Ahsoka. He’d overslept. The bright sunlight filled him with frustration as he realised he overslept past his second shift of guarding. “It’s fine. I wasn’t that tired anyways,, and it seemed like you needed,” Ahsoka chirped realising what he was thinking. ‘Must be a Jedi thing’ Mando thought to himself. “Actually no, it’s not a Jedi thing,” Ahsoka says softly, adding “I just seem to tell your expression.” Mando walked out the entrance and finally said, “I guess I’m staying here. Alderaan needs me.” Ahsoka perked up a bit under her grey, dirty cloak then softly whispered, “So do I. A Jedi always needs a Mandalorian.” Mando glanced at Ahsoka, seeing her smirking a bit… but looking pleased? “Well, I’ll stay for sure. The kid would make me do the same as well,” He replied back,, Ahsoka responded “Well shall we go? We don’t want to let the current leader of Alderaan waiting for us.” “Wait, I have something called a-a Spyball. We can watch where the kid is…” Mando trailed off. Perking up again Ahsoka replied back, “You have a spyball?” then she quickly added “Nevermind about that, just let’s see him.” Nodding Mando pulled out a round cube that was labeled ‘Spyball’ he whispered to it, ‘Show me Grogu.’ Instantly the swirls of colours showed, then they saw a green creature; with a blond Jedi. The blond Jedi - also known as Luke Skywalker, was assisting Grogu into making his lightsaber. The two (Ahsoka & Mando) watched silently as he completed it, effortlessly. When Grogu pressed a button on his lightsaber, shades of purple emerged from his saber. ‘Wow’ Ahsoka thought to herself ‘Making his lightsaber this easily, and it being PURPLE.’ Meanwhile Mando was silent, he had mixed emotions for the scene that he just watched. Happy that the child was making his lightsaber that quickly with the force? Sad that people would criticize them together if seen? Most of all his mixed emotions were happy for the little dude. “Well shall we go?” Ahsoka said, breaking up the silence between them. “I need some time to think about this, if you can go without me t-that would be great,” Mando replied giving a reassuring nod. “Alright, well stay here and make sure nobody comes. There’s been quite some activity in Alderaan lately and I need you to protect our hideout. Meanwhile I’ll go to Alderaan’s ruler and talk some sense into him,” Ahsoka said like it wasn’t a big deal. While Ahsoka went on her speeder bike and her view became less and less clear,, Mando took off his helmet… and let all those tears roll down his pale cheeks. A muffle sound came in, but soon it became clearer ‘Master? Food? Sad?’ Happiness sparks Mando’s face as he transmits back ‘How did you do this kid?’ as soon as he said that he was pulled into some sort of void,, in Space most likely. Mando saw Grogu sitting on a rock eating frogs as he gurgled it quickly. Mando wanted to barf at the sight of that but instead gave a confident smile (His helmet is off) and said, ‘How’s Jedi training?’ instantly Grogu looked up and said numerous words that Mando couldn’t understand when a blond boy came into sight. A Jedi. Luke Skywalker. Luke strolled over to where Grogu was sitting and translated, “He’s doing well, but missing you a ton.” Mando nodded and swiftly said, “That’s good to hear, I miss him too.” After several more minutes of talking and translating, the two Jedi left to go train…. suddenly something shook him to the present day. Ahsoka. “Wake up, sleepy head!” she said, noticing that Mando’s eyes were closed. Mando shook his thoughts away and opened his eyes, groaning. He replied back, “I was thinking…” Ahsoka looked confused and said, “Thinking about what?” Mando quickly explained what had happened and asked numerous questions on how he was pulled into Space’s void. Ahsoka murmured, “A talentful Jedi could only do that,, I can do that to people I see but not people about half way across Space from me.” she murmured other things, but only able for her to hear. Walking away to not break Ahsoka’s concentration, Mando got some water at the nearby creek and thought ‘A talentful Jedi, hmmmm.’ Grogu was a talentful Jedi, but he could also be harmful in many ways. How could Grogu say ‘Master? Food? Sad?’ without his Jedi Master translating for him? How was he able to make his lightsaber that quickly? Many questions filled Mando’s head, but he just shrugged it off coming back to the present. “Croak, croak,” he heard. It was a green frog, tears slipped down Mando’s cheek (Only he’s able to see that as his helmet is on) as he rolled his eyes, and flicked a stone in the water. Five skips. A new record for him,, at least that’s what he thought. After several more skipping stones, Mando headed back to ‘base’ he saw Ahsoka pull out a hologram map of Alderaan’s castle. “What’s that?” Mando questioned. “The ruler decided he didn’t want to bargain. Said he’d rather be with the Death Star, well we’re going to give him a taste of the Republic medicine for not driving a fair bargain,” Ahsoka said with a smirk on her face. “Did anything bad happen?” he questioned. “Oh you know,, the usual threats,” Ahsoka murmured.

Dear Poem,

It's exclamation mark! I mean obviously I'm your favourite among everyone else. Like who likes periods? Okay never mind I just used question and periods, I guess they're cool but still I'm your favourite and that's all that matters. That's that. I guess I have a question, why do you use me so much? Sure sometimes you misuse me but it's accidental write? Get my joke haha haha you should get it. I remember one time you were like “My username is !PandasCodingGames!” It's funny when you misuse me; even when it's accidental. Kinda embarrassing on your end though. Sometimes I wonder who your least favourite is, I try to catch you gosip about the other punctuations but eh- you never do that. Psst, STOP. BEING. SO. BORING!! Anyways I know you like to ramble! I do too! Especially with the classic… exclamation mark! I'm going to ramble on how boring it is with you sometimes, you mostly only use me to say “Added!” it's pretty boring, you rarely change it up maybe to like “Adding!!”, and SOMETIMES you don't even use me at all!!! “Added ^^” Excuse me!!! Like please, HELLO, I AM YOUR FAVOURITE, ALSO KNOWN AS NUMBER 1 PUNCTUATION. Don't get me wrong but of course everyone has a love hate relationship, but ours is far much worse. YOU KNOW I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU RIGHT POEM? PAY ATTENTION OR I'LL START TALKING IN CAPS. I mean I know you hate me using capital letters sometimes, but what's to hold? I'M SOOOOOOOOO HYPER AND EXCITED!! But of course several times I wasn't able to be off caps whoops, must've pressed the caps lock button too hard. ANYWAYS YOU THERE? Sometimes I wish you used me more because I'm your favourite. I feel unknown sometimes, and it's depressing when sad and hard things happen I'm not used. Period is always used. PERIOD IS ALWAYS COMMONLY USED FOR YOU, I HATE IT.

Single Gender Education • SWC Writing Competition Entry | Argumentative Essay • 410 words
(Kinda rushed backup entry if I didn't have anything else to enter)

Single-gender schools have become more popular around the globe, but does it really benefit students who attend schools like that? Worldwide there’s been research that has led to multiple benefits but also disadvantages to having a single-gender education. Research states that “girls learn better when classroom temperature is warm, while boys perform better in cooler classrooms.” Do we actually really need to send kids to these types of schools though? I strongly believe in the fact that single gender schools are great for students who need less distraction in their everyday learning.

To start off with the benefits of children going to a single-gender school, in an article it was stated that “While girls are good in some subjects, boys excel in others. When children study in a single-gender classroom, they interact much more confidently and freely and can discuss topics, which they would be otherwise hesitant about. Since all leadership positions are also held by peers of the same gender, children feel empowered and confident about tackling any job,” and with that being said being in single-* schools provides getting better at confidence. When genders are separated boys are eager to try ‘less masculine’ activities, which helps breakdown stereotypes. Studies found that boys are distracted by the presence of girls; while when girls are in secondary/middle school they’re distracted by the presence of boys - so it shows that when genders are separated, they are less inattentive and focus more on their instructors.

While there are many advantages to single-gender schools, there are also numerous critics against these types of education. It creates gender stereotypes, and provides fewer experiences. When these students go into colleges where there is no such thing as single-gender schools, they’ll have a hard time working with a ‘mixed gender society’. In an article it said, “In single-gender classrooms, the boys or girls do not have the opportunity to listen to perspectives and gain a broader understanding of each other.” Research states that it could be harmful for children to go to single-gender schools because both boys and girls would be unable to work together, and in the future society with starting families and more.

Single gender schools (Also commonly known as single-* education), are schools where males and females both partake in different classes. There’s many pros and cons with attending a school like this; and it’s really up to parents, and the way they see it for their kids to attend single-gender schools.

Society • SWC Writing Competition Entry | Poem • 380 words

As she walks through the garden,
An electricity of bolts vacillate the sky,
It’s an array to the eye.

With steady hands she moves to the corner,
There lies an unknown species in the awakening,
Animal? Tree? Alien?
Those are such simple words. . .

The word “species” could possibly mean many things,
She wasn’t worried of her surroundings anymore;
Her eyes were fixed on the moving creature,
Was she scared?
Her thoughts trickled with fear,
But in the darkness of it all, that fright was swallowed with amazement.

At last the words began to piece together,
“Hello?” she questioned, with immense anxiety,
“Hello!!” responded a cheerful voice, the voice was simple yet unrevealed.

Crackle! A ripple of an effect occurred.

The world was split into two.
On one side lay the intricate species and on the other. . .
Was the woman;
And it was that exact moment she feared for her life.

Roots were shifting in great measure,
Within seconds– the globe was off the ground.
I’m losing grasp, don’t let me drown,
Was the woman’s lost horrific thought.
And poof, with a blink of the eye she was gone from the holy world,
Death is an event that takes place;
It’s never unusual and the ash has ceased to continue living.

Except there is no ash from this particular woman,
It’s all bone.
Yet this was the last woman on earth’s surface,
Her husband died in the tragic arson,
Trying to save the life of a homeless.

In this world so-called “earth” it’s a diverse community.
People are selfish yet selfless,
And when you’re 100% one things beg to differ;
When the world changes it’s horrendous. . .
There will always be three sides to a party,
Sometimes life can’t change,
And that ‘sometimes’ will be alltimes.

Because within everything there’s only one species on earth,
It’s been identified,
Moondrops.

They’ve been known by the folklore to survive all natural disasters.

Climate change changes life, species, and everything in between,
We’ve got to act now before other unknown lives take over.

Take the world for granted in between sips of water;
Live life to the fullest ability!
Spend time with the people you loved,
Because you never know when the day may end.
A second from now, a year, it’s all an illusion.

Poem's Writing ☬

11/23 Weekly
+2311 words

Part One: +506 words

“You’d think that I would learn not to procrastinate in the weekly, but no. I never learn,” Star cried triumphantly, she was struggling almighty with the tremendous weekly.

Elfie meanwhile was agreeing with it; which meant her co-leaders were too. Poem was meant to procrastinate daily, they found weeklies amusing, but the words were such to great length they only scrolled through the forum post and left the page open. Other stargazers admitted that the weekly was such a tedious task, but many finished seeking for Poetry to be in first. It was practically written in the stars for Poetry to win. Storm on one side had what Star said repeatedly in their head. It was jumbled with balancing life, and regretting procrastinating on the weekly.

Yet as days went on from a weekly being released, lots of poets struggled. It could be written as a dystopia in fact–they were trying to rebuild their way to first far far away from Adventure and Sci-fi, but the weekly was their task to rebuild first as the story should be told.

Bakie, Kat, Robin, Bookie, and Zura were always trying to figure out ways to make the weekly seem for difficult when others quickly finished ~

All the activities sometimes felt nearly impossible to complete; but determined campers always found a way to complete the weekly.

“Just stop the clock, it’s the sign of the times. . .”

It was a quarter past noon, Lyra was running around with her triplets scrambling to finish the weekly.

“CC hurry up, c’mon!” she yelled agitated at one of her triplets who was a stargazer alongside her.

“Noooo,” CC said rolling to the other side of the bed, “it’s only a quarter past noon.”

“And the weekly is due today bestie, our astronomer leaders always find a way to get some good requirements in on us,” was the reply received.

“So again what’s the requirements?” questioned CC.

Four weeklies, and we’ve done none! There’s other stuff, but we really need that weekly done to get a pfp; and do you even have thirty comets?” Lyra said, once again annoyed.

“Screw requirements, screw dictators and tyrants, screw the world to be honest ahah. Be vibing to those epic pfps but a weekly is like twenty trillion gazillion years away from my reach bestie,” CC responded sarcastically, “Now leave me alone, I still need my beauty sleep on like you and those other leaders.”

Lyra mumbled, and shuffled away quickly. CC did make such a strong point, the weekly was such a long task, but such a gracious amount of points to the sweet taste of victory, not ketchup. Procrastination was a folklore of an event, betrayal was fun, redemption and retaliation was sweet–but finishing a weekly was annoying. The all capital lock moments started to get on Lyra’s nerves, it was fun and she supported it; but wasn’t in the mood after CC’s comments. There were no such ‘dictators’ and ‘tyrants’ in SWC? She questioned and over thought the thought of dictator-hosts in the horizon. . .

Part 2: +347 words

A whole long hard worked week had passed and your mark was soon to be revealed. . .
The possibilities were endless; your mark could be a bird, alocasia, honey, cat, chocolate, or something totally random.

As you walk on the stone cobbled stone, you can see the golden age start to slowly trickle in; it’d only been a week, but slow smooth lines of gold ringed the surroundings. Of course the government was still in place; it’d been a long time since you’ve seen such a beautiful tremendous colour.

You walk into the office which lies the dictator.

“Hello Miss. Sini,” says a deep voice in the distance.

Trembling in a symphony of a musical voice you respond shaken, “Hello?”

“Here to reveal your mark it seems. . . accomplishing to find your mark is a difficult task.”

“Mhm, I’ve just been trying to sleep and take naps–the rebellion leader; our immortal dog, Bookie, has given me quite a bit,” you respond suddenly, afraid of mentioning the uprising.

“Ah yes yes, the rebellion. Don’t you ever ponder on the rebellion not caring about you? Making you head to my lovely office to reveal your mark? They really don’t care about you; you’re tall–hmm you could be a great fighter among my rankings. Anyways, enough of my rambling, let’s reveal your mark,” says the governor looming in the wake of an eye.

You head into the orb, one wobbly step at a time. . .
It’s chilly, you can hear an arrangement of things.

This is way too easy to reveal your mark

A headache hurricanes over you, yep the not so easy part.

You’re knocked unconscious, and when you wake up you realize you lie in the governor's chair.

“I can see you as the governor of our beautiful city don’t you? Too bad the rebellion has corrupted your mind,” a looming figure stands over you, you can’t make out the silhouette but you for sure know it’s a male.

“So umm. . . what’s my mark?” you question, clearly wanting to leave the office after feeling uncomfortable.

“Ah yes! You’re such a strong lady you know that? I feel like I’ve told you already. The orb has given you two choices. . . a pillow or a piano. If I must say the option of piano is way better than a pillow; though another ramble from me is that you should’ve gotten a tiger as your mark. They’re such warriors,” he notes.

You hesitate thinking of the endless options. . . the mark would last until you kissed the rebellion good riddance.

So what’s my choice going to be? They’re both things I relate to. . .

Part 3: +312 words

As you follow Elfie, Sun, and Poem;
You realize this is a path to chaoticness,
Where campers are dedicated,
Yet struggle in their flaws.

When you walk into the tent,
The moonlight catches your eyes,
Writing competition, dailies, requirements, weeklies,
They were all written in the stars.

And if you’ve heard the tale of stars never dying,
It was true in fact.

There lies one single star in the horizon;
Shaped like a light red flower,
It’s one flower that’ll live in destiny. . .
A piece of the grove in the waking.

Long live chaoticness in the everblaze,
Because once you put on your uniform;
You’re committed to the grove,
Requirements are set in place,
Yet the astronomers never follow them–
Theoretically if you don’t complete all requirements it’s fine,
But the most important requirement is. . .
Having fun,
Sleeping in (even on cabin wars),
Attempt weeklies even if you give up on them halfway,
Meet new people.

The celestial grove is your second home,
Within is crazy stargazers;
Who you never know may possibly stay up past midnight at times.
Stargazers are meant to be up at the brink of when the sun lies to rest,
If not those who don’t come to write, meet to fail the expectations.

Only literally know,
Thou shall never have punishments;
To chant “Poetry for the win” is the best.

When you sightsee, it takes a break from writing;
It lets you show the true beauty of where you lie,
Possibly across from Ghostie’s soul,
Propped up against the ancient oak,
Or across from the crystal lake of thoughts.

“Not all those who wander are lost” - J. R. R. Tolkien

As you sightsee, it’s quiet among the celestial sky;
The chaos has faded, being able to hear the frogs hop at night.
Poetry isn’t just rhyming, it can be repetitive, chaotic, laid back, it’s a free verse.

Part 4: +1055 words

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. . .”

The chorus among the crowd of leaders celebrating Alba’s birthday. A birthday on Christmas was such fun, though Alba really wanted to spend time with her favourite person on Earth. . . Sini. The thought of sitting on a sturdy brick wall, singing Christmas carols beautifully, drinking warm tea as the soft snowflakes fall down. It’d been a tradition ever since her best friends thought of the ship name ‘sinba’.

As the crowd quickly faded after seconds of cake, Bakie, Birdi, Kat, Honey, Icy, Li, and the lovely Sini stayed.

“Some alone time for you two?” Li smirked, glancing at Sini and Alba who were staring at each other starry eyed.

“Oh my god guys, we should watch classic Christmas movies and leave those two lovebirds alone,” squealed Bakie, clearly not wanting to bring up romance to the conversation.

“To the couch we goooo!” Kat screamed sensing Bakie’s voice, bringing her black and white cat alongside with her, the cat was grumpy as usual.
As their best friends faded away, the kitchen was alone for the pair.

“So much for the silence–what’s up?” Sini said.

“Just replaying the memories of how we met,” Alba replies slightly grinning, “So what do you say? Let’s bust through 2021’s tradition?”

“Hell yeah,” was the silhouettes response, and hand in hand they headed to the closet to help each other get on some winter attire for the snow.

As the duo walked out with their steaming hot mugs, and SWC Christmas sweaters, they began walking towards the brick wall. As Sini was tall, she helped support Alba onto the wall and with one swift motion got herself on the wall.

“So shall we story tell about life and where we’ve left off on?” Sini questions.

“Perhaps,” giggles Alba as she attempts to catch snowflakes in her mouth, “I honestly haven’t done much songwriting in a while yet alone do covers. The school work life is one tremendous hill to face.”

“School is painful; I get it, but that shouldn’t stop you from songwriting pal–your voice is amazing and it’ll take you so far in life, you know that right? Music is totally something we should collaborate on,” says Sini as she gulps down her hot chocolate.

“Live, laugh, love. Such a quote I would love to have in my life,” Alba replies peacefully, slightly shivering unnoticed.

“You love and laugh with your life love, living is extraordinary so love every moment,” Sini says kissing Alba’s hand in a friendly manner.

“That’s 100% true, I laugh and it can be heard from a mile away,” nods Alba accepting the best friend kiss.

As snowflakes swiftly and softly fall, the weather changes ever so slightly.

“I drowned my cup quickly, want to head inside and watch whatever the heck they're watching in the living room?” Sini asks.

“Let’s take a moment to have this time together; our tradition seems short and we really missed out on the singing,” Alba replies with a frown.

“Of course, the world could never be made without you and this is such a picture perfect moment,” Sini says, taking Alba’s hand.

As the two hold hands, Alba’s head slowly drifts onto Sini’s shoulder, and Sini’s head drifts to Alba’s head.

“Take a picture, take a picture!” a familiar voice screams; it’s the ever so bright Bakie’s voice with her pink hair following the trail.

“Got it,” Birdi replies evil eyed, “It’s perfect, and we now get to notice what Sinba is really like.”

“Oh my god, Alba and Sini–my besties, so cute,” Icy goos her face with love.

“So instead of watching a movie, we did this? It’s cold,” Kat complained, shivering with her trusty calculator and cat.

“C’mon, it’s beautiful; cheer up,” Li responds shyly.

“Romance isn’t epic Li,” was Kat’s response, but she quieted down.

“Ahem, ahem, ahem, ahem; who said you could eavesdrop on the tradition?” Sini says breaking up the commotion.

“It was Birdi!” Li pointed.

“No it was Icy!” Birdi protested.

“Uh uh, it was Kat!” Icy exclaimed.

“Who cares about boring romance even if it’s with my two besties loves, it was Alba’s idea,” Kat replies making things up along the way.

All eyes head towards Alba. . .

“It wasn’t me, I swear,” Alba says innocently.

“Don’t you dare blame other people, especially not Alba you guys–don’t you remember when she burned down the main cabin when we angered her? She’s like Zeus, when she gets mad, she does mad man-like things!” Honey replies.

“You guys know I have my lighter with me at all times, and there’s a lovely bush nearby you know,” smirked Alba, not so innocent anymore.

“No, no, nooo,” Bakie wailed, “It was my idea okay?! I thought we could maybe do a few pictures, and I thought you guys wouldn’t like the idea so I made everyone help me with it, because you know how chaotic I get when there’s a camera with me.”

“It was all of our ideas, what Bakie pointed out is we might want to make a scrapbook out of it you know, just to keep lovely splendid memories,” Birdi says concluding the blame.

“So you guys really didn’t watch a movie? And this whole time, you just wanted to surprise us with some sort of Sinba scrapbook to make our tradition alive?” Sini questions, “C’mon loves- you all deserve hugs.”

Teary eyed, Alba joins in on the hug; “Let’s go watch a movie for real this time, I’m choosing it though!”

“Noooo, it’s my turn! You chose last time,” Li exclaimed clearly, having a movie in her mind.

“At this point, we should just spin a wheel to make it fair,” Kat replies, rolling her eyes as her cat agrees, bobbing their head up and down.

“But the last one standing should be the one to choose the movie, to make it more interesting!” shouts Bakie with sudden excitement, sorting wasn’t her side on things, but if it was choosing a movie she was all in on it.

As the wheel was being made, more refills of hot chocolate were dranken and the fireplace was up and running

“And the first one out is Alba,” Bakie says with a traumatic sigh.

“No! No! No! This can not be happening right now, where is my lighter. . .”

This isn't SWC related at all, but I just wanted to have this as my writing section + not create a new forum post ahah

Arwen - Arwen and I got to know each other several months ago and have a place where we pretty much chat everyday, because we just always seem to have something to talk about B) From art history, to school, to what’s for the dinner tomorrow, it’s always super fun. Arwen is such an amazing friend and we made it our goal to get to know each other more and I’d say it is definitely a success :0 Arwen is super sweet and genuine and has always been a fellow foodie with me ;D I can’t thank Arwen enough for what she’s done — she’s always listened to me no matter what & I’ll always remember Arwen as the person with an obsession of surfing and being the brightest person I know. Everything Arwen tells me is pretty much an aesthetic dream I’d love to live pfft. Arwen, you have no idea how much you have impacted me, even though I haven’t known you as long as the other people receiving thank you notes, but you’ve helped me through the toughest times of my life, mental health, and anxiety. Thank you so much for the positive impact you have brought towards my life, Arwen <3

Dogfin - Dogfin & I go wayy back as we know each other irl B’)) She is literally my best friend forever and has taught me so many things irl. Although we live very far from each other and haven’t seen each other in quite a while, we usually catch up weekly, if not daily, to see how school is going for each other. Dogfin is probably the smartest person I know having skipped a grade. She will literally stop everything to check-up on you, has so much confidence to judge someone for doing something rude to her, and of course, she’ll always be my multiplayer gaming buddy ;D This girl has taught me so much about loving myself, because she struggled through it, and she literally can overcome any obstacle that comes through her life. Dogfin deserves an award for always being there for me when I needed her the most. We did have a time when we weren’t on correct terms, but I’m super glad we came back to being friends, because over that time, it taught me so many things about friendship — This may seem cheesy, but we have a quote that we follow called “Lucky are those who find a true loyal friend in this fake world.” And that’s what we are for each other, supporting each other through tough times that occur for us. Everyone that meets Dogfin thinks she’s scary, but in reality, once you break that ice, it’ll dissolve to show a sweet and funny person. We’re pretty much exact opposites, but we end up finding a way to be best friends, because we’re just built different B) but seriously, Dogfin really has helped me so much. <3

Jex - I’ve known Jex for two entire years now :’’D That’s crazyyy. Jex has a personality like no other, she’s always been super caring and positive about everything. She’s taught me so much about art through her art and leading a crowd of people. Hosting with Jex for two sessions of SAC was incredible, not only did she bring so many ideas to the table, she and I became friends :) I was super intimidated by Jex two years ago, but now that that phase is over, I’ve gotten to say that she’s a friend of mine. Even though we don’t talk anymore, I will always be inspired by her and the talent that’s found on her profile is ✨✨ Jex is friendly, positive, artistic, and there are so many more words to describe Jex. I can’t thank her enough for what she brought to SAC and how she’s inspired many of the leaders. Thank you for being a friend of mine, Jex <3

Lyra - Lyraaa !! Lyra has practically become my mom, if not, grandma, because it’s always the simple things that matter to her. Whether it’s making me laugh whenever I feel tired, whenever she cracks a funny grandma joke, or even whenever it’s a simple reminder about drinking water and making sure to eat. I’ve always struggled with eating, but Lyra has changed my perspective about it and really has helped me through it all even though I’m still struggling. Lyra is literally the oldest of triplets and a younger sister, and she literally is a role model to me for sure. Even though we’re simply just Scratch friends, talking with Lyra makes me feel like I’ve known her for thousands of years. When Lyra left, there was no more communication between us, and that was because she had to finish up her last year in high school as well as go to her new art college in another country. Lyra still comes online every once in a while, so we always give each other updates about our lives, but I really miss when we were able to talk everyday. You’ve helped me grow as a person and matured, as well as teaching me to take care of my sleep schedule + take breaks. She’s taught me so much about taking breaks in life — Lyra is such a powerful, strong, kind, energetic, and friendly person. If you ever want to talk about anything or just vent to her, she’s the person you would talk to for sure. People would say she’s a “therapist” friend, but even if she ever feels like she needs to talk about life or even struggling to figure out her religious belief, she would trust me and talk to me. Lyra is so down to earth and honest, if she didn’t like a person, she would bluntly tell you then be like “sorry sorryyyy” but in reality, if you get a judgement from Lyra, she really is telling the truth, so whenever Lyra says something about someone, I’ll always take her word. That’s what’s awesome about our friendship, we have a lot of trust for each other even though it’s an online friendship. Lyra is literally such an awesome person and she means the world to me ♥️

Minn - Minn, Minn, Minn, the only person who won’t be able to see this letter. Minn, you’ve been part of my Scratch journey for half of the rodeo, and you were the one that shaped me as a person so much. I can’t thank you enough for having a person to talk to every single day when we were both super active. At the end of the day, all though it’s only Scratch, we have to find one way to end our Scratch journeys, and you ended yours first. I have to say that I was devastated when you left, but I picked myself up from that and remembered all the things you taught me. Whether socially, SAC, or other lessons, you’ve shaped me to be my best self and I hope you’ll always remember me, just like I always remember you and remind people of you every now and then. It was exactly last year that you left, but I will never forget the endless conversations we had about life. Leading a lodge together really strengthened our bond together and I’ll always say that you’re my best friend forever even if we haven’t talked in over a year. It makes me sad when I hear the name “Minn” or something close to that, because I’ll always think about you. The iconic Minn and Poem duo, Pinn or Moem. There’s so many endless words that I want to say, but I never ever told you thank you or bye. It never stuck to my head at the fact that one day we would just lose ends and I would never be able to say thank you or bye, because if I could, if I could give you one message back right now, I truly would say thank you and bye. I never got to say that to you and for all the things you’ve done to me, it’s really impacted me in a positive way like no other. I will never know how to repay you for all the things you’ve done for me, because Minn, you truly meant the world for me. The 1 year from my Scratch experience will always be about you. I hope you’ll always remember me and one day see this, though I know this is just a wish that may never be received. <3

Seven - Seven was the highlight of the second year of my Scratch journey. I honestly could never have imagined me continuing hosting SAC without Seven by my side, because fae has been here for a lot. I wish I could go back to when I dared you to say “I LIKE CHEESE” on one of your followers profiles or when we were the epic host lodge leading Botanical. It feels like ages ago that we did those things, but in reality, it was less than a year ago. Time is our enemy, it makes life pass by so fast, that we wish we could turn back time. Botanical could have never been made without you. You always took into consideration my ideas and co-founded a lodge that made it say “established by Poem and Seven” for sure. I'd like to thank you so much for your resilience, kindness, professionalism, and all the memories that we’ve made together :) You were more than a friend, a best friend, a best friend who I could endlessly talk to whenever the time-zones allowed us to. Four sessions of hosting with you is incredible. I could never find the exact words to put our friendship together. It’s like a puzzle with millions of pieces slowly coming. Memories being made and memories ending. ♥️

Waldo - Waldo isn’t exactly a person, more like a character. Kiju made him up after coming up with “Sparkly Alligator Chomp” to replace Scratch Art Camp. The other hosts and I then kept adding detail to him like him wearing a wedding dress and having sunglasses as an accessory !! Waldo was the reason why I wanted to enter the art contest, but he also signifies the new people that I’ve met and the people who weren’t included in this entry that have a special place in my heart. Frosty, Aaron, Pia, Linh, Lee, CJ, Kiju, SWC friends, and many many more. Waldo signifies the many fun memories I’ve made with all these people and the memories that will always continue to unravel with whatever the conversion leads to. Although Waldo is simply a character, Waldo will always have a special place in my heart to signify so many people that have been part of my Scratch journey.
