DDoS protection
So I recently found about this called “DDoS” which is an attack-type that affects sites.
What it does is that it takes advantage of the specific capacity limits that apply to any network resources – such as the infrastructure that enables a company's website. These attacks are also illegal and can have up to a $500,000,000 fine.
I'm kinda worried, so does scratch have any DDoS protection? And if not, can Scratch have DDoS protection?

im sure scratch has measures to protect itself from ddos attacks, you should note that ddos attacks aren't very sophisticated. you just take a ton of data and then throw it at a server from different places.

Not that I'm aware of. There were some issues with the filtering system but they weren't related to any kind of DOS. I think scratch did get a DDOS attack today.

I've seen another theory that the filter was temporarily deleted. Would that be closer to accurate? It would definitely explain what happened. Not that I'm aware of. If the filter was deleted, wouldn't everything be uncensored? i was in a studio, and some people claimed they were testing the filterbot to see what it did and did not filter, and there some things that still got them muted, so some part of the filter had to be workingI've seen another theory that the filter was temporarily deleted. The evidence that the filter was deleted was that if you went to the filters admin panel, while it would normally just show you the login page, instead gave an error. This is not supposed to happen, and implies the filter software stopped working. There might be another filter in place other than the main one, just for backup.

AFAIK Scratch Team uses Fastly that does come with a decent amount of DDoS protections (i'm not an expert on this but iirc there are different levels of DDoS and Fastly does take care of some of them) and I'm pretty sure that the Scratch Team can purchase additional protections if they require it. Companies like Fastly and CloudFlare seem to do a really good job of preventing DDoS attacks from actually denying service.

Does the Scratch Team use their own filter or some kind of service? Where is the filters source/URL thing?

Sorry, you have to wait 60 seconds between posts.
If you can't download the normal 2.0 editor, try these steps:
Download the Adobe Flash Player Projecter here: https://web.archive.org/web/20220401020702/https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html (sadly they took it down recently from the official site, thanks to the Internet Archive for archiving it)
Select the program that is right for your device. Do not download the debugger, just the projector. After you download it, install/open it.
Download Scratch 2.0 here: http://cdn.scratch.mit.edu/scratchr2/static/__ff878b6c9b6c4d18fab154a707dc253c__/Scratch.swf
Now, go into the Flash Player, and press File > Open, and then select the .swf file you downloaded.
Now you should be able to use Scratch 2.0 on your computer!
