Scrarch Game Jam

Please tell me if there is something like this already but I was thinking that it would be a cool idea to have a game jam sort of like the Itch.io Unity game jam where a theme is selected and you have to build a game within 48 hours based off of that theme.

An official one is a good idea, support but lots of users create their own. You could join one of theirs.

Scrarch Game Jam

For some reason that I don't want to mention, I deleted my email, which will not allow me to return to griffpatch academy and participate in the gamejam because it is final, so I thought why not create a scratchgame itself.
There will be a single list above the page with a distinctive design in which the winning projects appear, and before the announcement there is a button to add a project. If the project is participating in the game jam, you will be able to find the voting button as soon as it opens. Please add this addition in scratch 5, because what I do not like is that the additions are few as well. I don't think I will benefit from it as long as I don't have a camera

I support this idea.

Also, what do you mean by “I don't think I will benefit from it as long as I don't have a camera?”

The Scratch Team generally doesn't make official competitions, because they want to foster fun and creativity with the coding experience, without the added stress of competitions.

I agree, and also, people could get sad and discouraged if they don’t win or if they place really low. So, I don’t support.

Why do some people think 4.0 is coming out soon, others think we're in 4.0, and still others get confused when 3.0-specific features are mentioned? (he says looking at @medians). We're in 3.0- that hasn't changed since 2019, and the ST has said that 4.0 isn't coming any time soon, possibly ever. The block and site colors were changed for accessibility, not because of an update (also you can still use the old block colors- go visit the settings tab in the editor).

However, game jams are fun! It provides a unique challenge, and there could be a “new jam” button, similar to the “new project” and “new studio” buttons in the editor. It could be completely optional, and based on your preference. This would let you choose how much stress you want.

and what happens if you win? No rewards to winner feels cheated, yes rewards the people at a low ranking feels sad and discouraged
And tbh all the *popular* coders would just. win

Like an official game jam? If so, I'm pretty sure the oldest suggestion that suggests this is 476143. That would make this topic a dupe, and I'd recommend moving over to the topic linked in that case.

If you're talking about official ones hosted by ST, they're rejected:

7.17 Official contests on Scratch
Scratchers often host contests about making a certain type of Scratch project, and it has been suggested that the Scratch Team should host an official contest. However, Scratch is not about competition; the Scratch Team would prefer to emphasize the fun of creativity and learning without doing so in a competitive environment. Scratchers are still allowed to host their own contests, but the Scratch Team will not hold any official contests.
I think that contests and game jams mean the same thing.
