The Odyssey - A Board Game [Rules]

So I made an Odyssey Board Game for school and made a virtual game board on scratch. Since I can't link people to the Google Docs with the rules, I've posted the rules here.

Odyssey - The Board Game
2-4 players
Ages 10+
30 minutes

Introduction
Long ago in ancient Greece, the mighty Hero Odysseus had won the Trojan War and set off with his men to return home.
Now you are Odysseus and must face many trials and overcome great obstacles if you are to ever make the treacherous journey home.

Objective
Move across the board and complete each of the 6 obstacles in the path
Be the first player to reach your wife Penelope safely

Components
1 gameboard: a map of ancient Greece that you must venture through.
1 six-sided die.
20 trivia cards.
4 player tokens

Set-Up
Give each player a player token and place it on the start space.
Shuffle the trivia deck and set it next to the board.

Order of play
The oldest player starts first.
Play continues clockwise, in a circle.

Turn Structure
On your turn, you first roll the die and move your character the indicated number of spaces.
While moving your character, if at any point, you reach a Trial space, you must complete the trial.
If you complete the Trial you may advance to the space immediately following the Trial space, and your turn ends.
If you fail the Trial, you must stay at the space immediately behind the Trial space, and your turn ends.
If you don’t land on a trial space, your turn ends.

Trials of the Odyssey (Read when you get to each trial)

Trial 1 - Island of the Lotus Eaters
  • This island is inhabited by strange men, who eat nothing but the Lotus Flower. They attempt to lure you in with the sweet flower, but beware hero! If you eat the flower you will lose all hope of going home…
  • Roll the die, if you roll a 1 you give in to your desire and eat the flower, failing the trial.
If you roll any other number you safely pass on.
Trial 2 - Polyphemus the Cyclops
  • You stop at an island full of trees and sheep. You go to see who’s inhabiting the island when suddenly a Cyclops shows up and eats two of your men. It will take great trickery to outsmart this beast.
  • The person to your right must draw a trivia card and ask you the question. If you get it correct, you have shown you are smart enough to escape the cyclops by hiding under his sheep after blinding him.
  • If you get it wrong, you remain trapped in Polyphemus’ cave, locked in by a massive boulder covering the entrance.
Trial 3 - Circe
  • Your men have gone ashore an island and been entranced by beautiful women. But then the evil witch Circe turned them into pigs. It will take great effort to convince Circe to turn your men back into humans.
  • Roll the die, if you get a 4 or higher you have successfully convinced Circe to turn your men back into humans and let you go.
  • If you rolled a 3 or lower, Circe rejects you, and you fail the Trial.
Trial 4 - The Sirens
  • Legend tells of Sirens who’s song is glorious to hear. Who knows what good it might bring… if you can resist the urge to throw yourself in the water to get closer.
  • If you choose to not risk the Sirens, you may pass freely, surviving the Trial.
  • But if you want to hear the song, you can have your men tie you to the boat, and hear the song before you move on.
  • If you choose this option, roll the die. If it’s a 1 or 2, you break free jumping into the water and failing this Trial.
  • Otherwise, you hear the song, and as a reward may take an extra turn.
Trial 5 - Scylla and Charybdis
  • Ahead you see two ways to travel, one with a deadly whirlpool, one with a fierce, six-headed monster. You may choose to brave either.
If you choose to brave the whirlpool, Charybdis…
  • Roll the die. If you manage to roll a 6 you manage to escape, and the whirlpool flings you ahead, granting you an extra turn.
  • Otherwise, you get stuck in Charybdis’ deadly pull, getting sucked in. You failed the Trial.
  • If you choose to take your luck with the monster, Scylla…
  • Roll the die. If you roll a 4 or higher you are able to sacrifice six men to each head and escape. Although you mourn your loss, you have passed the Trial.
  • Otherwise, you lose your temper and try to fight back. Sadly you are no match and Scylla eats you. You failed the Trial.
Trial 6 - The Suitors
  • You are almost home, you can see your house. But over the last twenty years, many suitors have come to marry your wife Penelope. Can you outsmart and defeat them?
  • First, you must see if you are strong enough, roll the die.
  • If it a 2 or lower, you are clearly outmatched, and the suitors force you away, you failed.
  • Otherwise, the player to your right draws one trivia card for each number on the die you rolled. You must answer each one correctly to prove your ability to outsmart the suitors and trap them.
  • If you answer any of the trivia questions wrong, you fail the Trial.
  • But if you are able to get them all correct, you pass the trial and are almost home to your wife.

Ending the Game
Once a player reaches the final space at Odysseus’ house, he wins. Read the following victory message.
You have survived six deadly trials, proving your cleverness and strength. You have overcome your flaws and against all odds, made it home to your wife, Penelope. Congratulations, Hero.
