Hi. I am wondering what kind of information it is safe to reveal on Scratch.
I'm trying to keep in my head that Scratch does not have bad people here. But my mom keeps reminding me that the Internet has adults who disguise as kids in order to kidnap or even kill kids. My mom is right about this, because there are people like that, but I hope there aren't any on Scratch.
It's because I want to do a Draw My Life project (dat Chezbrgr doe) and I would like to know if it is safe to reveal
the state I was born in, the year I was born in, or even the conditions I was born with.

when green flag clicked
if <safe to reveal info on Scratch> then
draw my life
else
stare distantly, still thinking about doing a DmL
end

If you're comfortable doing so, you can. You'll be safe so long as you don't give out your exact location or social security number.

I don't even know my social security number. And I would never give out my exact location.
What about age, state, and conditions?

These are all okay. They do not specify a single person, but rather a large group of people. Lots of people are the same age as you, live in the same state, and may have been born with the same conditions. If you are uncomfortable with giving out all three pieces of information you could always cut back on personal information, such as birth conditions.

Okay. Here goes.

I was born on December 5, 2001 (the same month and day as Walt Disney, but 100 years after) in Florida, with a condition called “Asperger Syndrome”, meaning that my social development is different from the regular person. But that doesn't mean I'm dumb. I know a lot about a lot. For example, I know that the Internet was started in 1969 by DARPA, or that Windows 3.1 used desktop icons as a way to keep track of the programs you opened once you minimized them, and that you always had to keep something called a “Program Manager” open (you could still minimize it) all the time to keep using Windows 3.1. I also drew a lot of neat pictures in my childhood. I also took a lot of art classes, which basically proves why I'm such a great artist.

That's some true stuff about me. Now, don't go spreadin' this all over social media. There are predators out there.

I know someone with Asperger's and they are extremely smart! And have great memory, too

However reveal it in a project of you wish, not here

I just get really worried about admitting this about myself because usually, people make fun of people who are autistic. Those people are heartless little #$%^s who don't have a life at all. Asperger Syndrome is a part of the autistic spectrum. But I know a lot of things.

If you're worried., don't admit it. And please don't use symbol swearing.

I have Aspergers syndrome too, just not the “great memory” part.

No I don't make projects anymore. I left some time ago.
I only check the forums every now and then, but other than that consider me retired.

Your origin of birth and things like that would not reveal enough information to serial killers….I think it's safe

Ok, guys, let's not turn this into an off-topic share-your-life-story thread. If you would like to share whether you are autistic or not, do it in a project.

i have grown as a person. and ive grown, literally. none of my posts from before 2022 represent me accurately.

That is awesome! I generally get a little nervous talking about it myself. You never know people's reactions. Good for you!
I surround myself with tons of so-called trivial information…

Thanks for sharing! But as others above have pointed out, this isn't really the place to share it. This thread also seems to be rather old, and resolved - please try to avoid bumping up old threads. Thanks.
